So to start off. on April 7th I called advanced for a quote on an engine cleaning and tumbling. they gave me a quote of 120$ I took notes on this and compared it to places in my general vicinity. i told them I'd look for a plate for the engine but just for the time being, I wanted a hot tank and a tumble. he told me it would be a week or so due to employee circumstances. Completely under stand it, stuff happens. between the 7th of April and the day I picked it up on the first of may, they contacted me twice the day before it was done and the morning of. communication problems again I get it. stuff happens, where my problem comes in. On the afternoon of the first of may I headed in and was very respectful to the service manager behind the front desk. He told me it would be approximately 243$ aka double what he first quoted me. This was given to me without any reasoning or justification. I asked him about it in a respectful manner mentioning that when I called 4 weeks prior I had noted he gave me a quote of 120$. He immediately throws away the 243$ repair copy and changes his price on the computer to 120$. then he askes me "do you go to the tech here" I replied with "yes sir" He then tells me "that makes sense all you kids do is b*itch and complain". then proceeded to tell me I don't know the difference between a quote and a final statement. Im not sure if he gets paid on commission or salary with a bonus but regardless talked to anyone let alone a customer is unacceptable. then trying to upcharge me on a job that was extremely small. I was planning on bringing other work there but since this interaction I will NEVER recommend anyone to there service. looking back I should have drove down to Colorado. After that interaction I asked for the owners number and he happily gave me Leonards name and number and told me "feel free to call him he will agree with me". I left Leonard a long voicemail right after explaining my incident and it being 4 days later he has not tried to contact me other than there automated customer service text. I would love to speak to the owner call or in person. the ball is in there court. advanced automotive doesn't care about students or there customer service reputation here in Laramie. Along with ALL of this I will be informing every student that atends wyotech to not bring there business here. And there is no way they can have almost 600 reviews on there website while having 6 reviews on yelp. One having a "4.8" and the other being a "3" Ball is in your court Leonard. read more

This shop outright lied about what services I needed. They replaced my spark plugs, but also told me that my brakes only had 10% of their life left and needed to be replaced immediately. I went to another shop that told me they have upwards of 50% of their life left! Don't fall for their scams! read more

We were on vacation and broke a front shock. They were recommended by someone who worked at the campground we were staying. They manage to fit us in the same day we walked in. Truck was fixed on time. Now we are set for the 1,000+ mile trip home. Thanks for a job well done. read more

I took my car in because my engine light was on. They gave my car a thorough inspection. When they were done they sent the inspection along with pictures to me via text. I can always access this information. I couldn't fix everything but they helped me figure out what needed to be fixed asap and what could wait a little bit. I also like that they have a warranty on all of the work they complete. read more

I am a student on a budget and cannot afford to pay for all maintenance at a moments notice. I went to them a couple of times and each time felt like they were tacking on repairs not entirely necessary. My first experience was when my 4wd stopped working and they diagnosed a short in a relatively inexpensive part ($120). Later that day they called back saying now the part further down the line had been shorted out, adding another $250 to the total. Again later that day, I received similar call where yet another part had shorted out and added another $200 to the repair cost totalling now $550! To top it off, I could've swore the guy at the front desk said that they had shorted one of these additional parts themselves and I am now paying for it. To be fair, I was upset and cannot be positive. For this reason I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went back to them when my check engine light went on. It turns out my car was just signaling routine maintenance, but they said the spark plug wires should be replaced and quoted $160. Later that day I received a call and said they have good news: the wires don't need to be replaced so they just replaced the spark plugs for $100. This tells me that my wires did not need to be replaced in the first place, and were trying to squeeze more money out of me instead of resetting my computer for an affordable $60. Also, spark plugs are the easiest thing to replace yourself and will only cost $30. Furthermore, they forgot to mention that the $130 original quote didn't include a $60 charge for resetting the computer. Which is fair enough, but it would nice to know that in advance. In the end, I paid $160 to have them change my spark plugs, which I could have done myself. Last straw; I will be going to someone else. read more

My car wouldn't start. Brought it in thinking I needed a simple fuel filter change. They call me the next day telling me I have all sorts of problems keeping my car from starting (battery cables, distributor, valve cap) and that it will cost over $750 to fix. Naturally I was suspicious of the hefty price, so I called my mechanic back home that family has used for 25 years and trusts to see if it was legit and he told me 1) he could fix all those problems they were charging $750 for for less than $300 with parts and labor, so they were way overcharging me, and 2) Considering what was happening with my car, it didn't even make sense for these things to be the reason it wasn't starting. Knowing this information, I called them and told them I didn't want them to fix it because it was too expensive and I am just a college student who can't afford that. Then they charged me $115 just for an inspection. The guy even admitted to looking at the car for less than an hour. Most car places charge $30-50 for an inspection if you don't get any work done by them. These guys have an absurd shop hourly rate of $115. In the end it turned out that my problem could be fixed over the phone with a few simple instructions from my mechanic back home. They tried to charge me almost $800 for something that took 5 minutes and was free. My car is working fine now and all the problems they told me needed fixed were nonexistent. If I hadn't been suspicious of the high price, I would have paid over $750 for imaginary problems. Moral of the story is that I will never return here. Their information was bad, and they tried to take advantage of me with inflated prices. I would not recommend it to anyone. There are far better shops in Laramie read more
