I hesitated between two accent-reduction programs and decided to go with Jon Berton. His program was significantly more expensive--nearly twice the cost of the other option--but he had far more availability, whereas the other teacher was almost fully booked. In hindsight, that alone should have been a red flag. Another warning sign was the constant follow-up emails and PayPal invoices sent before I had even fully committed. I usually trust my instincts when someone pushes too hard, but for some reason, I ignored them this time.
Unfortunately, the experience lived up to my concerns. The teaching itself was poor, and the online lab was extremely outdated. After just three underwhelming classes, it became clear that this was not a worthwhile investment. I chose to cut my losses and politely explained that the program was not working for me.
Despite this, I continued to receive messages encouraging me to sign up for "part two" of the program, completely disregarding the fact that the training had not helped me at all. It felt as though the only priority was collecting payment via PayPal, rather than any genuine concern for student outcomes or program effectiveness.
What ultimately pushed me to write this review was seeing the experience of a friend who enrolled with the other teacher I had originally considered. She shared the material from just her first class, along with access to the online lab she's using--and the difference was STAGGERING. The lab was modern, comprehensive, and truly top-of-the-line. Simply reviewing her first lesson and experimenting with her lab taught me more than my entire time with Jon Berton.
Because I wasted a chunk of money on his program, I can no longer afford to enroll in the legitimate, high-quality program my friend is benefiting from. That is deeply frustrating, and it's the reason I feel compelled to share my experience so others can make a more informed decision. read more
