This is going to be long, but I would like to explain the circumstances and my review in full…read more I arrived at Robertsons Monday January 12, 2026 to order a passenger seat for my Honda HRV. I was told that it should be the next day. The following day, I called before driving 45 minutes to Wareham, to make sure the seat was there, which it was. I'm not sure why nobody ever called to inform me that it was ready. Upon arrival, they had the wrong seat, it was supposed to be cloth and the one they had appeared to be leather or "pleather". I politely asked "Is this considered cloth?" The man working, had an attitude and simply replied "You can go inside and complain in there". I went inside and immediately they attempted to rectify the situation, and I was told they had reordered the correct seat and now it will arrive in 2-3 days. I called again, two days later and was greeted on the phone with confusion, placed on hold and then sent to a voicemail. I left a voicemail, and nobody ever called back. I called back again on Thursday and this time, I was told "the part was never reordered, but now should be here Monday (1/19). Monday came and went and I never heard from anyone at Roberstons once again, to tell me that my part had arrived. Tuesday morning, I called and asked to speak to a manager, he immediately said he was taking care of it and the part should now arrive in 1-2 days again. The afternoon Thursday comes, and still have not received any phone calls from Robertson's, so I once again call and find, after some confusion, that my part is there and ready to be picked up. It was ready since the day before, no notification!!!! So ultimately I am just relieved that they finally have my part, because I need it to pass inspection this month in my car. I notice that the receipt they gave me, does not match the amount of money that my card was charged. I was charged an extra $9.08. When I asked, I was informed that that was the credit card processing fee, which I do understand, but it is not posted that you will be charged extra for the processing fee. In fact, I had cash in my hand when I went to pay and the guy shoved the card reader towards me, so I just ran my card instead of using my cash. The "cashier" proceeds to tell me that there is a sign, and there is a very small sign on the left lower corner of the window that says "save if you pay cash" nowhere does it say that you will be charged if you use a credit card. I told them that, they should probably move the sign to a place where people can see it and make it more clear. A good place to put it would be on or right next to the card reader, and she proceeded to tell me that usually people "hang out for 5-10 minutes next to the sign". The manager even came over and said that they usually tell people about the transaction fee, but sometimes they "forget". This is by far the most shameless and shotty customer service I have experienced in a long time. SEEMS PRETTY SCAMMY TO ME!! And to top all of that off, not one person offered an apology or any solutions, except for the one manager I talked to that finally got my part.

Awful service! Tried calling multiple times. No answer. Finally got through and they sent the wrong…read morepart. When I called and told them it was the wrong part I got a major attitude from Zach telling me I was wrong. Will never use them again!

I have written quite a few Yelp reviews at this point. I think I am, for better or for worse,…read morebrutally honest here. This is the best review I probably ever will write. If you want to build a kit car you should buy it from these guys. We are in the process of building their MK IV roadster and the engineering on this thing is excellent. From the ordering process, the delivery of the kit and the customer support through the build process these people have proven to be absolutely top notch. Do your research. There are several companies that sell kits that look like the roadster, however from my research not all of these companies have managed their logistics in order to deliver the way Factory Five delivers. Factory Five's "Complete Kit" roadster arrives as...a complete kit. Once it is delivered and tucked away into your garage your first step is to start taking inventory of all the parts - about 20-25 boxes full of parts. It's a mixture of excitement as you start looking at everything but there also is a bit of "OMG, there are a lot of parts here." But once you start bolting things to the immaculately designed frame the big time fun begins as you realize that Factory Five has organized the parts so well that all of those boxes of parts simply go together, one small project at a time. Also, they don't just drop a bunch of parts on you and leave you to figure it out. The assembly manual is fantastic. You can call them for tech support. But probably the most helpful source of assistance are the two internet forums. Factory Five has a long history and has sold a few thousand of these things, this means that there is a robust group of builders who have enthusiastically engaged with one another to solve problems and answer questions. We have yet to find a question that has not already been answered on the forums. Seriously, it's so thorough it's almost comical. Google search "FFR" followed by whatever question you have and I would be surprised if you don't locate the answer. Just be sure to check the dates on the forum posts as some of the challenges people encountered were with earlier models of the roadster and the suggestions they make might not apply to the current model. Factory Five clearly has monitored these forums and has actively tweaked their design to fix some of the common issues from early models and, they have even incorporated into the MK IV some of the custom modifications their early buyers engineered (e.g. driver's foot box mods). Set your expectations appropriately. These guys need to deliver complete, unassembled automobiles. Even with an old and relatively simple British roadster that is not a small task. They have identified, acquired, organized, and in many cases - fabricated, thousands of parts which usually fit perfectly. Many of these parts are common to current production cars, so a smaller company like Factory Five sometimes has to wait for parts when Ford places a large order. So they send your kit with a short list of back ordered parts - usually just minor stuff. Not only is this "no big deal" as it has not interrupted our build one bit, but it's actually pretty exciting as the parts continue to arrive. These guys are absolutely first rate, you WILL get all of the parts. Not only is Factory Five a great design house, but they also are a skilled logistics company. If you decide to by a MK IV roadster here are a couple of suggestions: Get the frame powder coated. Order the body with the cut-outs done at the factory. Get the optional independent rear suspension. Buy a powered (e.g. pneumatic) riveter. Get some extra, high quality 1/8" drill bits and some cleco fasteners. If you ignore most of this advice, get the cleco fasteners, those things make assembling the sheet metal easy and fun. And unless you can pick up the kit yourself use Stewart Transportation for the delivery. I first saw the Factory Five roadster kit in 2000 and wanted to buy one. I opened a small account and started saving money in an account I called the "snake pit." A home purchase, a few cars and 2 kids later we bought the kit in mid-2019. We are having the time of our lives putting this thing together. If you're on the fence about getting one of these kits take this advice: Do it.
