It was my first time at this particular AutoZone and it will be my first stop from now on, judging…read moreby the excellent customer service I received. What I needed was simple: daytime running light, brake light, and back-up light. I walked in, was greeted right away, and headed over to the book on the shelf that shows which bulb goes with which car make/model. As I scanned the rows of bulbs that all looked alike, employee Al Kapelewski, approached and asked if I needed help. I was very relieved because the book was showing a dotted line where the corresponding number for the daytime running light would be. Al quickly found the brake light and back-up light, but when saw that AutoZone did not have a listing for the daytime running light, he said he didn't want to see me have to leave and go to the dealership or elsewhere just for one bulb. So he began investigating which other bulb in the store would work. To do this, he went outside in the 100 DEGREE HEAT (at 2pm, which was super-hot), opened up my car's hood, took out tools to take out the bulb (not completely easy) and went inside to examining the markings on the socket to see if he could locate something similar. The first attempt didn't work. Neither did the second. Seems there was a connection problem by the socket. This required Al to now try to jiggle the connection points and try out new bulbs. All of this attention for just a $8 bulb. And that's exactly why I'm writing this review. Al Kapelewski went FAR BEYOND great customer service. I really appreciated being treated as if I were a long-time, high-paying customer, that's how welcome I felt and how the service really exceeded expectations. It's not often people come on these sites to leave a good review, but judging from my experience, I just had to. Thank you, Al, and whoever your boss/manager is.

Yesterday, I would have agreed with all of the reviews for A to Z auto. I really dislike doing this…read morebut I don't appreciate being lied to. Gil farmed my work out to a specialist which I was ok with. I was promised to be charged his shop price- cool. What happened next was completely out of Gil's control. The other shop kept my truck for 2 weeks due to some snafu regarding parts for the repair. It was frustrating for me because it was my work truck. During one of our discussions, I told Gil I may have to rent a car for the weekend. He offered to help with that as he felt bad that the other shop was taking so long. ( Gil was frustrated too with dealing with the other shop) At one point Gil told me to deal with the other shop by myself. When my truck was finally finished I paid a higher price than what was quoted because I was no longer getting Gil's shop price. Gil offered to make up the difference but then reneged on that offer saying he couldn't do it. As I had to have a fluid change at 500 miles I asked if he would do it and he agreed to for only the price of the materials. Well, today my truck was ready for pick up and he quoted me a price that clearly included labor charges. When I reminded him that he agreed to do the job for the price of materials he kept reciting excuses why he couldn't. He finally relented and I got the price HE originally agreed to. I never held Gil and Jayne accountable for the misgivings of the other shop, and I told them that. A to Z has done some good work on my truck at a reasonable price and in a timely manner. This is why I went back to them. I certainly trust the quality of their work, but this? Three broken promises is a bit too much for me to accept. I finally found a decent mechanic and now, unfortunately, I have to find another.
