Once there, they were not able to help me with getting the code read, so I went to another business in the area. The code was read, but he did not provide me with a code number. Feeling like I didn't really get any assistance, I headed to Christiana Auto Parts. I was greeted and immediately assisted, providing me with the code number. I let him know that my son is a mechanic was at work that day and just needed the code. He asked if he could look under the hood, I agreed and he started asking questions due to curiosity on what could caused this to happen. He was very determined to find the cause, and asked to speak with my son. They messaged back-and-forth and worked together. This young man went out of his way and very determined to solve this problem. It ended up being a cap on the intake manifold that must've rotted and fallen off. He would not take any money for his efforts. He just seemed satisfied to be able to figure the problem out, reminded me much of my son who is the very same way. When a challenge is presented, it's like finding the missing piece to a puzzle. Bottom line, the courtesy, friendliness, and desire to help me out really impressed me. The only thing he requested is if I ever needed work to be done on my car that my son couldn't do, to come and see him. His name is Tommy, and said he and his father (and I think brother) run this business. I know it has been there for some time, passing by it for years. I only wished I had thought to go there first! I'm telling you, being a woman who has had many car problems in her life, know there are a lot of untrustworthy auto shops out there. I felt this business to be trusted in the short 20-30 minutes I was there! While I don't know the extent of work they do there, but definitely recommend checking into this place! I told him I had someone on their way to pick me up since it was going to take about two hours. He double-checked my number, and I was told they'd call if they needed anything. I waited in the lobby for about 20 minutes until my ride got there. At no point during my wait was I asked to leave a wheel lock key, and since they're a tire shop, I initially assumed they'd have a universal key or tools for common vehicles like mine. I later realized that wheel lock keys aren't universal -- they're specific to each car or lock set -- so I take responsibility in that regard. That said, no one asked for it at drop-off, and that lack of communication definitely played a role in the issue. My original appointment was for Friday at 11am, but I rescheduled it on Wednesday to a later time. I let them know I was available any time after 3pm, and they suggested 4:30. A little after I got home, I received a call saying they couldn't find the wheel lock key after checking "all the places it usually is." I told them it would be either in the passenger side door, or in the pocket behind the back passenger seat. I received a second call not long after, stating they still couldn't locate it. When I returned, the employee handed me my keys. I opened the passenger side door and found the lock key within 20 seconds -- exactly where I had said to look. Again, I would've had no issue grabbing it before leaving, but this was my first time replacing all four tires, so it completely slipped my mind, and I expect to be told if I needed to present something -- especially in the confirmation email after scheduling the appointment. I understand that oversights happen, and again, I could've asked more questions up front. But claiming they searched twice, only for me to find it instantly, with the areas looking completely untouched? It just felt like pure laziness -- especially given how much I was about to spend and that I'm almost positive I should've been asked for the key before I left . That level of care just isn't acceptable. I won't be returning.
