Avoid Golden Advanced Auto at all costs!!! They sell bad batteries and then refuse to honor the warranty you pay for! Twice now with 2 different cars the brand new DieHard platinum batteries I purchased with 36 month warranty went bad in just 6 months! 2 in a row! Sam used the stores tester on my last one and said it's not the battery, it's my alternator, I said it's probably the battery since the last one in a different car lasted only 6 months too, Sam refused to honor the 36 month warranty and continued to blame my alternator, he even said he was sure it's the alternator.... I said in a stern voice I'm gonna need a new battery here today and Sam said he can get me a new battery but it will void my warranty, so I said fine, let's install the new one......but then he wanted to charge me full price for a new battery and even said there would be no warranty cuz he said my alternator will just eat it up. I was turned away with a dying battery. Sam refused to honor the 36 month warranty that I paid Advanced Auto for! So, I located a new alternator and went to Auto Zone to pick it up, scheduled my mechanic to come install it and when he came out and put on his tester he said my alternator is working fine, and that the battery is bad! We went back to the store together and manager Joe put it on the same tester they have and instantly honored the warranty and gave me the free replacement battery that I wanted in the first place from Sam. But I had to pay my mechanic $125 for the service call! I called corporate to complain and the district manager Glenn Richardson called me with stall tactics, wanted to argue my mechanics diagnosis, didn't seem to accept any responsibility, and would not refund me the $125 I had to pay my mechanic. He didn't seem concerned with his stores negative reputation and now he doesn't return phone calls! Glenn Richardson could not settle my complaint, he's just a yes man for Advanced Auto Parts!!! What a waste of time and money dealing with these people! Avoid the nightmare at the Golden Advanced Auto!!! I should of listened to the negative word on the street that I heard about Golden Advanced Auto, they have a really bad reputation that's getting worse! Every time I'm in that store there's always a customer complaining about the service there! Avoid this nightmare store and go to Auto Zone or O'rieleys just down the street! PS: One time when I bought a new battery, I now remember as he was wheeling the battery up front on the cart he was wiping the battery down cleaning it... why did they have to clean up a new battery? It appears Advanced Auto is taking in the returned bad batteries and putting them on a charger then selling them as new batteries!!! read more

Just needed a return or swap out of my cable, the big guy with the scruffy beard throws my part back to me and says "these are good parts, we use them here, nothing I can do for you" I go to the other Advance store and they just gave me a different one no questions asked! Is it really that hard to simply offer customer service rather than be in a love affair with the other female employee? read more

I needed a battery swap and multiple places including AutoZone and Batteries+ said they were not able to change my battery due to "battery location". I brought it into Al and he took 5 minutes to change my battery and he even showed how easy it was. The customer service was excellent and I would recommend to anyone! read more

I wasn't expecting to write a review for an auto parts chain. However, I received excellent customer service. A level I haven't seen in a long time. I called to see if they had brake lights for my make of car. I spoke with Andrea and she looked it up, told me they had it in stock and could install it for me. I told them I would head over. Andrea saw my car pulling into to parking lot, and actually greeted me at the door. She came out with me to the car and started to install the light. It didn't end up being as easy as just screwing it in, so she took the time to remove the plate and put in the light which certainly made my life easier. We then headed inside where I paid for the light. The whole transaction took about 20 minutes and Andrea was helpful and very friendly the entire time. It's rare to receive attentive, friendly customer service anymore, let alone for such a small ticket item.For that reason I felt compelled to write a review and give Andrea the attention she deserves. read more

Best customer service I've had at an auto parts shop! A worker named Zach (Ries?) was extremely knowledgeable about the products and passionate about providing top notch customer service. He recommended a BG product to improve engine performance and suggested I watch a couple videos online to hear the difference. I never felt like he was pushing a product or trying to sell me anything I didn't need. Went in to find two items. It took 45 minutes, three employees and I still walked out with empty handed. They couldn't tell me what head light I needed and didn't have a filter in stock. Each previous time going in was easy and the employees were helpful but today that was not the case. I'm annoyed and still have to go back to get the parts I want. read more

John the manager, blonde hair and drives the old Tacoma, does not treat the employees with respect, the employees hate him so it motivates the others to steal from the store. John once did not know how to do a return and after a simple disagreement he ended up kicking me out of the store and threw my parts out the front door like a bowling ball. John got verbally abusive and asked that I become physical with him so he could press charges and make this a legal matter. Well that would have been an easy way to get rid of me. I am not a car buff by any means which translates to the fact that I am usually intimidated going into auto part stores. Today I walked into Advance Auto Parts and was greeted with two big smiles. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to mount my new license place on the front of my car and simply asked if they had "License plate screws." Yousseff not only helped me figure out the correct screws that I needed but also installed the plate. He even removed my old plate from the back of my car and installed the second one. Each time we went in and out of the store he held the door open and was very sweet and didn't treat me me like a "clueless woman" which is how I have been treated at other auto places. After all of this work and 30 minutes of help later my total bill cane to $3.21... aka, they are truly in business to help. Overall, I had a great experience and will be going back for all of my car needs. read more

I went over to this Advance location because I'd had a good experience there a year or so ago buying a taillight bulb for my '98 4Runner, but this last experience a few weeks ago while buying a new battery really deserved mention here. As soon as I walked in the door, one of the sales folks (Jeff) immediately greeted me and asked how he could help. I told him my battery was toast and, moving as swiftly as he did, he nearly jumped over the counter to grab the battery/electrical systems tester. While completing the testing, he asked about my weekend, but not in a 'just taking up time' kind of way--he was genuinely friendly, polite and very knowledgeable. After checking to ensure my alternator was ok and nothing in the truck was sneakily sapping juice (thanks!), he gave me a diagnostic printout which he reviewed with me and quickly removed the old battery. He then answered all my questions about the new one I'd already picked out from their website (and there was zero pressure around upselling--he just showed me the other options available, most of which were actually cheaper than the one I'd chosen), then just as quickly got the new one in. Oh, and I offered him a tip three times, but he politely refused every time, asking instead that I help support their yearly store fundraiser in September. (Now, I want to make it clear that I absolutely think that tips should be offered in situations like this and I still always will whenever I have service done there, but the fact that Jeff instead asked me to support their fundraiser, well, it just says something about the culture there.) Highly recommended, and I'll definitely continue to be a return customer. read more

Horrible experience!!! First, the motor oil they claimed to have in stock (and at other stores as well) was not in stock. [I had spent some time online before traveling 18+mi to the store trying to find a specific oil for my car]. The clerk (tall, heavyset with bald/shaved head) seemed disinterested in helping any further and I had to ask for him to check the back, he also seemed put off by the fact that I asked for him to call another store; the website claimed others in the area had it too. The call to the other store started with an off-topic non-work related conversation with the individual on the other end while I stood there. Not to my surprise at this point, the other store didn't have it either. Clerk seemed uninterested in helping any further, maybe find another alternative. I work on my car myself, have pretty much all my life... so researching parts is something i'm used to. Very disappointed in the inaccuracy of the website, even MORE disappointed in the customer service. I won't be back. O'Reilly down the street saved the day for me. read more
