Maybe they are ok for buying parts but don't bother with their 'services'. All Advance Auto Parts shops will do certain tasks for free - like diagnosing your battery. So I came here to get my battery tested since I had to jump start my car earlier and I know the battery is quite old. First the lady asked me to move my car to right in front of the shop - it was literally no more than 10 meters away in an empty parking lot. But ok let me move it. Good thing I drove enough to the charge the battery so it started on its own this time. Then she proceeded to keep on readjusting the reader's clamps because the reader for some reason wasn't working. Didn't bother try getting another machine. Just told me I needed to go somewhere else to clean off the terminals. Seriously? You couldn't get some corrosion spray and a metal bristle brush? Went to another Advance Auto Parts shop and they had no issue diagnosing. Girl - you just had a bad machine. No vehicle expertise (or common sense) at this location. read more

Good staff here. They definitely do well with customer service. Need to check a code on your car? Go here first, because going to a service place knowing what it is, can be quite helpful. The folks here are both efficient and friendly. Also they are quite knowledgeable about vehicle accessories and the like. Inflation has increased all over, but auto parts is through the roof. Even windshield wiper fluids cost is ridiculous. I'm not pleased about this, and find oil, along with other essentials high in cost now. No it's not only here, but it is frustrating. This place has a problem, and it's either one, or the other, or both: 1) A serious lack of basic knowledge about how cars work, and how their own inventory system works. or 2) They are a criminal enterprise who intentionally tries to extort 'customers', who they see as marks. I went into this location today after being notified by my wife that the battery in our other car was dead, while I was out and in the area. A quick google by myself while at lunch for '2016 Kia Soul EV 12v battery replacement' showed me several results for batteries that fit my car, including one that cost $189. I went to the Advance Auto Parts site, and put that same search into their own system, to confirm that they had what I was in need of. It stated that they had it in stock at this location for about the same price. Maybe $194. No big deal. Don't mind playing a few extra bucks for convenience, pus, the store has to make a profit of some sort. I went in and looked on the wall for it, and couldn't find it initially. No big deal. The manager 'Edwin' asked "can I help you?" Not in a kind and helpful tone, but more like, why are you looking at the items for sale in my store? I told him I'm looking for a battery for my car. He said "go to the front, she will help you." "She" was the cashier at the front, and she asked me what kind of car I had. I told her. She said: "250". She didn't say: "250 dollars." Or "we have this one for $250". Just: "250." I look shocked I guess, and I can already feel that they are trying to scam me out of $50 at least. I lean toward the screen that's facing her, so she turns the inventory screen toward me, and points to the top, most expensive result (of multiple listed, at various prices) which is indeed $250.00 I point several rows down where the battery I want for $194 is clearly listed and in stock. She says: "that's different. It doesn't fit." I say, as I pull out my phone and show her on the Advance Auto Parts website with her store clearly selected: "it shows on your own website 'exact match' for my car". She says: "no..that's different." She then calls "Edwin" over and he says: "That one is small, and skinny. The other one (more expensive) is bigger, and fits better" (he had no idea what kind of car I have. he wasn't present for our conversation/search. It's a small EV) he says: "where is the car?" I say: "at home with my wife." He asks me to see if she can take a picture of the old battery. I say fine, and ask her to. While I'm waiting for her to take the picture, I go look back at the batteries on the wall for the one I know that I need. He comes over quickly and says "no, it's none of these.." -clearly trying to get me to stop looking for it. just then, she sends me the picture and I show him. He points to a battery on the wall that I'm looking at and says, defeated: "yeah, it's that one." I take it and pay, but I am fuming because it's clear they tried to take me for a dunce and extort me for an extra $50-$70 By first claiming they only had one battery that fit my car (the most expensive), and then claiming that another clearly fitting option would NOT fit, all of this without bothering to check. Do not go deal with these people. At best, they're horribly incompetent. But in reality, they're manipulative scumbags who will try to take advantage of people who aren't paying attention or aren't terribly knowledgeable. I'm not exactly a gearhead, but I know how a damned car battery works And how to buy and install one. Too bad for them, they apparently never heard of the internet, and I wasn't born yesterday. Do not go to this location. Do not deal with them. And if you must, please do your research and come prepared to argue and insist and then buy what you need and go. read more

Good service! I thought I needed a bulb because my lights were out and they helped me find the right one. He said if it's not right make sure you keep the receipt. It wasn't the bulb and I figured out it was the fuse. I got the fuse and I was able to install that myself and I was on my way. They are very nice at this location. read more

I walked into the store and was instantly greeted. And was helped right away. I had to get windshield wipers and was shown an easy to read display and a very clean store. My car stopped running at the bank located right next to this location, I walked over to ask if I could move the car to their parking lot so they could replace the battery I purchased at this very location less than a year ago and I was told it wasn't possible, there was only one attendant an no customers at all... save yourself the trouble and stay away from this location. read more

Great help with picking out the correct battery for my truck and the service that I received while installing it.

I purchased 2 kinds of oil filter wrenches because I couldn't be sure which would fit best in the confines of my engine bay. I opened the package for the first wrench and though it fit the filter, there was no room to apply the wrench. I have cuts and scars on my hands from all the metal and plastic in the way to prove it. I did find success with the 2nd cap-style wrench and proceeded to return the 1st wrench. Well despite the long wait time at the counter, I was told the 1st wrench is a "used tool" and was not eligible for return. VA state law requires consumers to be notified of return policies prior to purchase. The only notices are hand written signs on 8.5x11 sheets of paper which mention electronics are not returnable. I went to this store location to buy the break light bulb for my car. The sale man Keith G assisted and provided me a wrong break light bulb. I returned to the store asked for a replacement. He became very rude and excused me not giving him the right information to start with. He is mean and gets angry at me, additionally, he told me that it is all my fault that I bought a wrong break light bulb. It was the WORST customer service that I've ever experienced. read more

Firstly they give me incorrect advice to make me buying a wrong item, the worst part is they lied to refuse the return of the product; the product was perfectly clean, they could not find anything wrong, but a guy said he smelled something, whatever he smelled must be from his store, not from the product.
