As a guy there is no experience more humbling or embarrassing than venturing into a sex shop with…read morethe purpose of making a purchase. While I won't share exactly what I was hunting for, I will say that the experience of being surrounded by artificial male genitals, wall to wall, in more sizes and colours than you could imagine... Is humbling to say the least. Ahem. I mean seriously, how am I supposed to focus on my shopping when there is 14 inch phallic object hanging a few inches from your face that resembles the leg of a small child (or baby's arm). Also the name - "Thunder C&$k" doesn't exactly help the male ego. But I digress, the point is that most visits to novelty stores whether you grabbing personal lubricant, something for some light BDSM, a personal companion, specialty male protection or just some good old fashioned black market Chinese boner meds (disclaimer... This was not the point of said visit) are and can be awkward and produce spouts of childish giggles. Thankfully it was just myself and the store manager the day I stopped in and she could tell I was nervous to ask my questions. And like a doctor of sex toy-ology she took the awkwardness right out of 14 inch dildos (also not the purpose of my visit) and spoke to me in a matter a fact way. Almost scientifically. She addressed all my inquiries professionally and expertly and even made suggestions for various options to do with my "goals." I won't elaborate either on the success or failure of my purchase/purchases BUT I will say they were "satisfactory." Great shopping experience and I'd recommend this place to you if you like a personal boutique shopping experience when buying personal items.

Good For Her is a gold star example of what an adult, sex-positive store should be - none of that trashy big-boobed-mannequin-from-mainstream-porn crap. As a sexual health educator committed to non-judgmental and sex- and queer-positive services, I always recommend Good For Her to clients who are exploring sexual pleasure and broadening their sexual horizons. They offer a regular workshops for a whole variety of things like oral sex, open relationships, BDSM, etc etc. The store front is quaint with a pretty little picnic scene painted on the side of the house. If you look closely, you may find some discrete surprises :) The staff are knowledgeable, open and non-judgmental. The store is a great place to check out as long as you can be a little open-minded and mature... you might be surprised what it can introduce to you. I noticed that they had sexuality workshops and decided to attend one called Giving Good Head. I was intrigued that this class was sold out couple months in advance so I signed up right away. The workshop was being held at the store. The night of the workshop, I arrived at the store and was pleasantly surprised. It's a small store but it's homey, with free coffee and tea and comfy chairs to sample the books. The workshop was held upstairs. The instructor, Lorraine Hewitt (aka CoCo LaCreme), was great at making everyone feel comfortable and introducing her own exploration into sexuality. I actually learned some interesting things in the workshop (complete with handout!). I loved that everyone there, even if they felt silly, still took part in the workshop with enthusiasm. No one felt uncomfortable asking a question and it was good to have that camraderie with other people. During our break, the store was open for shopping and perusal. I was impressed by the Lorraine's knowledge of various products in the store. When I go into sex stores, I sometimes feel like the employees are just part-time student workers who may know some things but will mostly giggle at what you might ask. Lorraine was nice enough that you would feel comfortable asking her advice on a book or a solution to a problem. Being gay/lesbian/transgender-friendly just boosted the experience even more. All in all, it was a great experience. Whether you're taking it seriously or just as a fun night out solo or with the girls, Good For Her is a great environment to explore your sexual side.

We were quickly greeted by a guy with a clipboard who took our names. We were served in about 15 minutes and got to watch soccer on the TVs for a while. The person who helped us was also very polite and we got our new modem and remote control with some directions on set up in 5 minutes. The experience was fine, but not really something I'd like to repeat. I wonder if it's only so busy because it's inside a mall?

It is far less serious for a sex shop to ask for ID (not going to kill someone with a dildo), but I can understand upholding the law. So, I walked into this shop and politely greeted the lady at the cashier. She was just giving me a dirty look and asked for my ID. I said okay, gave my driver's license, and she told me that she couldn't accept it. I asked her why, and she told me it could be fake. I said okay, well I have my health card. She told me no again. She said that no establishment accepts health cards as ID, which is completely false given my career. That's 2 valid pieces of ID. I then told her that okay, well if she doesn't accept those, I have a picture of my passport on my phone. She tells me she will not look at it or accept it. I asked her why, and she said I look too young and I had too many pieces of ID and now it's suspicious. What? Now also keep in mind; I'm 27 years old. She's denying the evidence in the 2 ID's I presented, and also my passport on my phone. I even offered to verify the accuracy with my Bank statements and pictures. She still told me no. She said I look too young. She didn't even want to look at my other forms of proof. You're legally allowed to deny service, but the fact that she's blaming it on the fact that I look young when I have so many forms of ID that prove otherwise, is really unprofessional. And I see other reviews that mention the same problem. I contacted customer service after and I told them the entire story. They got back to me in a week, and I was offered a gift card in exchange for my troubles. I accepted it, and they told me they would get back to me the next day on how to process it. It was a fake promise. They never got back to me. I didn't get a single thing after all that trouble. Disappointing. EDIT: Customer service has gotten back to me and officially gave me reimbursement for my troubles. I came back to the same shop and the same lady was super friendly and fun this time. She's also really knowledgeable about the toys there, give me plenty of suggestions and recommendations. I was pleasantly surprised. I'm still going to leave my story here because it was an annoying experience, but I'm thankful for their understanding.

The first thing, as I walked up to the shop, was the cute little Pride window they had. Of course, I was already sold before I walked in. The whole vibe of the store was calming and relaxed. The person in the store was the owner (whose name I'm totally blanking on) but they introduced themselves and made my whole experience wonderful and gave me all the space I needed as I poked and prodded around the vibrators in peace, poking my head out every once in awhile to ask questions. What I liked about this shop is that I never felt pressured into buying anything and I never felt uncomfortable about the stuff I was looking at. The whole space felt like a super high-end sex shop, something that you would see in Europe or something.
