Horrible customer service and charging for services not provided, and difficult cancellation processes are common. They charged my account that is on auto pay for video service etc. that I never had. They billed me for updating my service which I never have. I've had service for 30 years and the payment has been 36.00/monthly for monitoring only. I never changed anything and they refuse to send me the document that they said I signed to update. They are deceptive and rude. I talked to Janetta a manager. She would not supply me with the document that I supposedly sign upgrading my service with video, etc. I had no video ever etc. Horrible. I know this is illegal that they won't provide me with any back up. Had to call my bank to research the charges. read more

I just hung up with ADT alarm service for my home that has had a WiFi error communication for the past two days every two minutes a BEEP goes off showing the WiFi error. I called ADT twice today and the first call I was told by a service rep that it was an error from ADT from a software update on their ADT side that was causing software issues. aDT said they would fix it while I was on the phone and apologized for the beeping. One hour later the beeping:WiFi error showed up again. I just called back and was on the line for over an hour and could barely understand the ADT customer reps and the third person who I was connected too, was no help at all that I had to hang up. I signed up for ADT with a rep from ADT and their local affiliate Safe Streets. After I crunched some numbers I realized this would not work with my budget, so I canceled within the window if time I was allotted. No problem, except they kept taking my autopsy after the cancelation and after all the equipment was removed from my house. Neither ADT nor Safe Streets has been responsive. ADT Home Security: I've waited to post this for a while but it's time... If anyone is looking to get a security system for their home steer as far away from ADT as you can.... We got one and, before we realized how bad they were we recommended them to our kids... The installation was terrible, their product is just as bad, and their support tops off the list with being even worse. Installers are contractors who promise much and deliver little - install the sensors wrong (had to come back 2 or 3 times) and don't follow through with the credits/rewards promised at sale time. The support is worse: CO sensor kept going off, very hard to get someone to pay attention to the issue and schedule a repair. When the repair guy came he didn't have parts and then ghosted any calls to try and get it fixed... When I cancelled the service they said I was in breach of contract so I had to pay the balance (almost $400)... when, for the last month or more, I had to disconnect the whole system because it kept going off every couple hours (all through the night of course)... I would NEVER recommend ADT to anyone EVER... be careful, you get a lame product with even worse support with these guys. I only give them one star because I have to give them something read more

I'm not sure which location has been dealing with my issues with ADT, but regardless, ADT is the worst company to deal with. I've been trying to get my camera system fixed and access to it since August 29, 2024. I had a theft so I went to my camera system- couldn't get in to it because the QR code the system sent me contained symbols my keyboard didn't have. By September 9th I finally got the repair man here only to find out the camera was broken, but of course he had to order the part! On the 20th, the camera was replaced. But we couldn't get into the system to change the time because I needed a computer, which I no longer have, to download the new format to a flash drive to install on my system. He was on hold with ATV, the developer of the system, for 3 1/2 hours when his boss told him to leave. I had ANOTHER repair man out on the 26th, after he was on hold with ATV for 1 1/2 hours, HIS boss said to leave without finishing the job, told me someone will call to make ANOTHER appointment. As I have not heard from anyone yet, I called them-I was once again on hold for 45 minutes to be told they have to order that part and then they will call me to make another appointment when they receive the part. So, they had not ordered the part until I called them today. If this is the kind of business you would put up with, good luck! BTW-I should have looked into ADT on BBB.org, there are over 9500+ complaints. Save yourself a month of anguish, get another company, NOT ADT! The system isn't ADT, it's another company called ATV, between the two of them they have little to no communication to support the paying customers. Stay away from ADT!!! ADT is awful. The carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors they install expire after a period of time, and when they expire, the devices keep sounding alarms randomly and unexpectedly (especially in the middle of the night). Then when you contact ADT to try to get the issue fixed, it literally takes about an hour on hold just to talk with someone. Then you find out that they can't just ship you new units, they've gotta make a service call to install them, and the service call will cost hundreds of dollars. And then finally you're told that getting these new devices to replace the ones that no longer work will increase your monthly fee! ADT is a scam. They don't care about protecting you or your home. Any trust I had in ADT to provide protection and security was destroyed by their nickel-and-dime approach. I happily cancelled my service. read more

Their reviews are all spot on! Terrible customer service. I had our system for 9 years nothing but problems. With all the technology now a days why would anybody spend and waste their money with a company like this! We started to smart home and automate our house and ADT is so far behind when it comes to Camera Quality. That was our first reason for dropping ADT. Then they charge $70 per month monitoring! they just sent me an email indicating they were raising my rate an additional $5 per month. Another reason I'm leaving! There are literally dozens of companies that offer 24 call center should you have an alarm go off for $20 per month! I spent 2k on our home system plus an additional 2K on key pads and extra cameras and I'm very disappointed with the waste of money I've spent over the years with ADT. Get a real professional who knows electronics and have them build you an awesome home automation and alarm system that will be ten times the quality and run everything for about $35 per month. ADT has the absolute WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE imaginable. They deserve 0 stars. Kiara in billing was particularly bad. I would stay away from them and use a better and cheaper service with better customer service. Their "customer service" agents are defensive, indifferent, and lack authority to solve problems, even when the problem emanated from ADT's mistake. It is ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE to talk to anyone at this company. I literally spent an hour and a half on the phone being endlessly transferred to a variety of departments, each of which told me they "do not have authority" to help me with my problem, which resulted from ADT's mistakenly assigning two account numbers to my account. The number of departments they have is staggering, and none of them communicates with other departments. Each department I spoke with provided different information, and each department has an exceptionally narrow scope of authority. If I did not already have ADT equipment installed I would simply cancel my service. After more than an hour and a half on the phone I ended up paying a fee I did not owe, simply to avoid the annoyance of dealing with them further. Can other companies monitor ADT equipment? After I signed up for ADT and it was installed correctly I began having a fire engine and paramedics roaring into my cul-de-sac. It was embarrassing since we could find no reason for their arrival. Our neighbors came running to help. The firemen went through the entire house and found nothing. One week later it happened again! Both the fire engine and the paramedics came roaring to my house. Again the firemen went through the entire house and found nothing. Two weeks later it happened again! The fire department drove more slowly to my house and the paramedics didn't bother to come. After this third time I callled ADT and told them it was not doing any good and was in fact doing damage. I told them I was done and to turn off the account. Now in September I have been turned over to a collection agency to pay missing payments for that time. DON'T SIGN UP WITH ADT! Purchased ADT security equipment with associated services. Installed by Safe Streets, LLC. They damaged our home on installation. And, the system never worked completely right. Outdoor cameras didn't work within a short time after installation. Later, the doorbell camera stopped working right. I've called and called and sent many emails. No resolution. The last technician that came brought his manager who admitted that the system they installed (and I've paid over $70 a month for over two years) was insufficient. His offer? $500 off of the rest of my contract or they would install a new system that would require me to sign another lengthy contract with a company that has faulty equipment and incredibly poor customer service. No way I'd do more business with these people. read more

My mother has had ADT security in her home for many years. She is now suffering from dementia and has caregivers that come to assist her everyday. Every night my mother would turn on her security system but she could not remember how to turn it off so the alarm would come on everyday and the police were called out to her home almost everyday which resulted in false alarm charges. Since I'm the one who pays her bills, I called ADT to have a remote system installed which would allow the caregivers to turn off the alarm before they would enter the house. That didn't work either because my mother still set off the alarm and the police were repeatedly called. What I didn't realize was that my mother was asked to sign something when the ADT person came to install the remote. As I said previously, she has dementia and had no idea what she was being asked to sign. Although I live in another state, I am the one who ordered the remote service and the one who pays her bills every month. To avoid any more police visits, I cancelled the ADT service but to my surprise, whatever the installation man had my mother sign, resulted in ADT's insistence that she continue their service for another year. When the service was cancelled, they sent her a bill for $1,229.91. She is so confused that she has no idea what she is being charged for. When I contacted ADT, they asked me to fill out a form that stated the document my mother signed was "FORGED" which was not truthful and I did not comply with that request. ADT insisted on the payment and therefore turned over the $1,229.91 to a collection agency which has confused my mother even more. ADT has tried to take advantage of a senior citizen with dementia by compelling her to sign a document then trying to bill her for services that were discontinued. This company is obviously interested only in money and has absolutely no regard for customers and their circumstances. read more

RUN, RUN, RUN!!! Got signed up through one of their "vendors". Received a phone call from ADT "corporate" stating that the other vendor hadn't turned my service "on". His name was Frank Carbone. Said they had full authority to take over the contract since it had not been activated. Half the time the cameras never worked and would have to reset them to get them to work. Long story short-ended up with 2 contracts, two months of double billing, and said I had enough. Cancelled the service and WILL NOT EVER USE ADT AGAIN!!!!!!If you move, they start over on your contract, they just don't tell you that part when you sign up. read more

They will not uninstall their equipment. I'm moving, and my landlord does not want the alarm system left in the unit. ADT says they will install new equipment in my new unit, but they will not take away their equipment in the old one. They said to call an electrician to do it. All the electricians I've spoken with said that they cannot do it, because it's specifically ADT equipment that they don't have the tools for. I'm going around in circles! read more

We have had this service for over 10 years, always paid our bill on time. Yesterday I noticed our motion detector was not working. We called them and got the run around so we decided to make sure it was not the batteries. We bought new batteries but it still did not work. We called them back and was told that if we wanted a serviceman to come to our home to fix this it would cost us $95!! Yep $95 for them to fix their faulty equipment! Ripoff. $279 per camera for them to install a $20 Chinese camera. And I was locked into a 3 year contract. So for 3 cameras the grand total is about $3000, plus I had to get an electrician to run electrical wires for the cameras. When you move, you are still stuck with the contract. read more

I cannot imagine worse service. When we called to cancel they had a salesman call to try to keep us. It is very expensive to cancel (80% of what they charge), but they had been unable to make our system work for a year and each time we paid for a repairman to come out it never got better so it was not worth keeping even at a serious loss. The salesman convinced me they could make it right and get my system working. Well, I signed a renewal for the remaining time on my contract and they never showed up to fix the system as promised. On top of that it looks like they cancelled my new contract and I am still paying to make the old one go away, but no one called me to let me know what was happening and my email got ignored. ADT does not care about its customers and just wants more long contracts and money for new hardware. They must sign people up for 3 years to keep them on when their hardware breaks after the first year. read more
