I have had ADT for 35 years. My daughter just brought to my attention that I had been paying them 87.00 monthly. I am 81 years old and to me that is a lot of money. I started checking around for other services and found them much cheaper. Before I cancelled ADT, I thought I would call them. GOOD LUCK! Four separate days I called and each time the wait was at least 45 minutes. Each time I gave. Sometimes I got a person from India that I could not understand Several times after 30 minutes someone would answer and could not resolve issue and passed me on for another 45 minutes wait. I have had the worst experience with ADT. I've been a customer since 2001 and had great service until I tried to cancel the CCTVs since I'm not using them anymore. This is on the new property that I have been at for 7+ years. I have called 7 times thus far with a minimum time online of 50 minutes and I end up talking to several people one after the other. They cancelled my account altogether and now they are back-charging my account when they were not protecting my house!!!! This is disgraceful. Today, I've talked to 2 different people in now 40 minutes and no one can tell me if my house is indeed monitored again and why I see a $400 bill suddenly show up on my account. I have yet to get an answer after calling 7 times!!!!! What type of business has this become?! read more

The closest thing I have ever come to a crime while under contract with ADT is dealing with the company itself. Customer service offered free repair service to entice me to stay, but then charged my credit card $222, blaming their 3rd party repair company. While they admit it was their fault, I cannot get them to refund the money back to my card. They refunded the money to my account, but I don't want to stay with them additional months (contract now expired) to recoup the money. They are the criminals we need to be protected from. I will dispute with my bank, but likely will have to forfeit the money ADT stole. Do yourself a favor and don't get involved with these criminals. If I worked for the company in any capacity, I would be ashamed. read more

Scam! Worst company I have dealt with in Tennessee. They will rope you into a long term contract that you cannot get out of unless you pay them off. Their customer support phone numbers will leave you on hold for hours hoping that you will give up. The guy who installed here told me that he was carrying loaded weapons into my house and also told me that sometimes he has blackouts due to PTSD. This has been a Nightmare! read more

If you want to protect yourself from criminals and crooks, do not let ADT through the door. If you decide to not listen to that part be 100% you listen to this, DO NOT EVER allow them to bill your account to your credit card or bank. That has to be a deal breaker for you. They will screw your eyeballs out of your head. It will be a bill that recurs for all of eternity. If you want to cancel, you will be placed on hold for eternity, you will be given all these specific directions to mail them a letter blah, blah, blah. Then, when you inquire in the future, go through the same steps. They play the long game. If they can drag it out, it is possible to get another billing cycle out of you. Hell, my alarm hasn't even worked for the previous quarter. I have taken the step of actually closing my bank account so the thieves can't charge anything else to it. Everyone BEWARE before doing business with them. Note, also, that no review on here is for anything other than 1*. None- To the ADT people that monitor this, I'm putting it here just so i don't have this displeasure of speaking to anyone from ADT again. I don't want the money back. Horrible customer service. Trying to update my payment. Unable to log in. Then they want my Verbal password. Which I have written down. Said it doesn't work. They can mail it to me. Which take 5 to 7 days. Looking at other companies and a gun. So frustrated! Shame on you ADT! read more

I have been trying to get through on the phone called once and was on hold over thirty minutes to have the call hung up on when the operator answered the line as if he couldn't hear me. only to call back and placed on hold another hour to get a sensor issue resolved that only work for a few minutes. So, I tried chatting I did get a faster response but one of the chats ended unexpectedly. After two techs later and the problem not resolved I asked if a tech could be sent out and work the issue out instead of remotely. was told I had to go through an online tech first but the days he had available did work with the schedule of my job and asked for a weekend call. I was told to call back for a different day which is total BS to me at this point I am ready to end my service and cut the cord with #ADT read more

I had service with ADT for years. I replaced some doors in mouse so I called them to have the sensors moved and they didn't seem to know what I was talking about. After six months of trying to reach an employee that knows how to do their job, I finally gave up and canceled my service. They then called my wife several times a day over the next few days to beg her to stay with them. They convinced her to stay if they sent out a technician to upgrade the system for free. The tech came out but apparently he didn't know how to use a screwdriver, so he cut the wires coming from my window and door switches to the contacts so he could remove the old sensors. He then stole my old sensors, which I bought from ADT, leaving the old contacts and magnets, with the cut wires still attached. He then installed 17 windows/door sensors and charged my wife $150 for the free upgrade. His reason is because the old sensors could cover two windows at a time, but the new ones only cover one each. He also said that our 2 existing motion detectors would not work with the new system so we now don't have motion detectors. When I got home from work I checked the app and 12 of the 17 sensors are showing that they are open, when I clearly don't have 12 windows or doors open. The panel shows them closed. So I wanted to cancel, instead I got swindled into paying them to come out and literally rob me, install sensors on 1/3 of my windows and doors, disable my motion sensors, sign me up for a new 3 year contract, and charge me $150 to do all of that. I still have three business days to cancel. They are supposed to show up today between 12-4 to "fix" the issue. I expect it all to be fixed, or I will cancel and expect my old system to be reinstalled, along with new wires. Just got a response on here from ADT and it is a joke. I tried for six months with countless phone calls to try to get the simplest thing handled. How about you just provide a decent experience instead of trying to make it seem like you care on here. read more

Was on the phone for over an hour after being transferred 4 times. When we finally got a hold of someone she said she'd fix it (as we had moved) and made sure we would be billed just one month ($19). Imagine our shock when received a bill for $723 with no explanation. Now I see why all the reviews are just one star. Buyer beware!!!! This how they treat a 20+ year customer! read more

We've had ADT for three years and it was a pain, their sneaky contact and policies. Every time you try to add couple of extra things they try to rip you off. Customer service is rude, deceiving and unhelpful. They only time they started treating me decent is when I said I'm going to cancel their services. They were offering hundreds off of their equipment and even free stuff. But I found another service at that point. Just really sad that their hundred plus years of experience really worth nothing! My entire ADT experience has been a nightmare. I'll start at the beginning when I called after believing an ADT ad that promised protection for $27/month. The man on the phone said that I would be charged a $105 installation fee but if I didn't go through with the service then that would be refunded. A day later someone showed up, IMMEDIATELY put a hole in our wall to connect the main hub, and not until after an hour of messing with our wall and our outlet did he presume to explain to us that we would not be able to opt for the $27 plan, and that without a phone line we'd have to do a $52 plan. On top of that, all our windows and doors weren't even covered, and each little gadget per window cost an arm and a leg. We felt utterly scammed; tricked and pressured into paying way more than we thought we would. The man seemed like a professional, so we calming explained how we felt - he spoke to his supervisor and they worked with us a tiny bit on the price. This entire process took some time and we needed to leave for work, so the man reluctantly told us he would come back to finish installing, but he needs us to sign the contract that night. After work, we read over the contract (which did not even have our address spelled correctly) and we decided we really felt uncomfortable being bullied into this expensive plan. We decided not to sign and request the installation fee back. Yes, now we have an inconvenient hole in our wall for nothing, but better that than going down this ADT rabbit hole. So we thought. Turns out, WITHOUT EVEN SIGNING THE CONTRACT, they started charging our credit card for a service they did not even complete!! Nothing was installed except for the main hub, which to remind you is not connected to any other device or phone line or anything. IT'S USELESS. We have no security and no contract and still ADT was charging us a $54.99 monthly rate and the $105 installation fee. We tried to get a hold of an ADT customer support person, and after being transferred from sales to customer service to who knows where an hour and a half later on this endless phone scam, someone finally said they'd "put in my request with a supervisor and be called back in a couple days." Of course I was NEVER called back. I finally had to contact my credit card company to explain everything and THEY refunded me the money. The entire ADT experience felt disgusting and phony. It was oddly convenient to be told a higher price after installing the main board. The installer never even contacted us or came back to try and finish the job they charged us for (even though we already tipped the gentleman because he seemed like a nice guy). At least we never signed a contract so they have nothing on us. NEVER SIGN ANY CONTRACT WITH ADT. We'd never go with ADT or recommend it to anyone! EDIT: As soon as we left this review on one of the ADT pages, we finally got a supervisor to reach out to us about our experience. He only kept inquiring about if we may have signed the contract (we did not) and refused to acknowledge how they're falsely charging us and did not even hook anything up in our house. He told us that he'd contact the technician and call us right back (this was 1 week ago) and we have not heard back. Meanwhile, our credit card is on month two of being charged 54.99 for nothing. read more

ADT IS A JOKE!!!!! I SIGNED A 2 YEAR AGREEMENT. THE DAY THE AGREEMENT ENDS, THEY RAISED MY RATES. OF COURSE!! I try to cancel and they won't let me because it is under my husband's name (even though I have the pass code and everything else on the account). My husband calls two days later and they tell him they don't do cancellations over the phone, he would need to fax it in. We fax it in and don't hear anything. So I call to make sure it is received. It takes them 2 weeks to go through their faxes AND the lady this time said we can cancel over the phone but only my husband is allowed too. Would have been nice for the first rep to allow my husband to do so. We also have to pay for 30 more days (even though we moved and don't live there) because apparently they require this, even though we are no longer in contract. Dont use this company. Contacted them for info on a system. Had to have a Risk Evaluation on site by local tech. This required securing a Credit Card they told me but we are not charging you because we dont need your security code they told me. Made it perfectly clear I was gathering info and would make a decision. Appt was for next day at 8:00 am. At 7:47 that next morning my wife text me informing me the charge went thru. I was livid. I will say promptly at 8am the tech knocks on my door. In just 13 minutes I had decided I would not do business with ADT. Dealt with the call center in Indiana so felt kinda bad for the local tech....at first. He gets on his gets me on the phone with some mid level mgr. It was obvious this is their tactic. Said my card would be refunded. That hadnt happened. So called back 3 days later. Finally got someone. Told my story to Jasmime....oh boy. I could imagine her sitting back with headphones on, legs propped up, filing her nails or something as I explained what had happened. She even burped in my ear!. Wow. Based on what I have read, that 100 bucks was well spent actually because the cost of doing business with them would have been much higher. ADT needs negative stars read more

I was a loyal customer with ADT for about 30 years and spent over $50,000 on equipment, installation and upgrades, not counting extra for monitoring at $750 per year and $950 per year. I recently spent another $15,000 on automation which required multiple service calls. Some very good experienced Technicians and a few new inexperienced which didn't understand the system complaining about their workload and time spent at a location as they trucks were being monitored by GPS. After last visit when a prejudice Technician couldn't diagnose and fix the problem, he made fun of my foreign accent and I then received a letter of termination. I had thirty days to scramble and couldn't find another company to use and integrate the system. They forced me to spend money on these upgrades and then dropped me cold eleven months later. read more

I called to try to get someone to come out and give me a quote for a security system with several cameras and all the other doors and window protection they offered. After going through 30 minutes of finding out what I would get, asking over and over if there are any more things, and sure enough they kept adding things to the packages I asked for. When I finally felt that I had come across a good deal. They asked for my birthday. That seemed fairly innocuous so I told her that. Then she asked for the last four of my social. I told her I wasn't going to give that because I wasn't committing to buying. She kept insisting she had to have it and I told her it was a dealbreaker and that they didn't need it until I purchased it, so she sent me to her supervisor who told me he could do a credit just on my birthday, so he could see if I qualified for some promotion. That's when I finally lost it because I asked him if it was a soft credit pull or a hard inquiry which lowers my credit. He responded by saying " I am not allowed to tell you that". This is an obvious shyster sales deal that everyone should avoid. If it wasn't for my vast knowledge of this stuff they would've gotten away with it. Shame on them read more

If you want to keep the crooks out then don't let ADT in. I contracted with ADT for a security system on a house that I inherited, because no one would be living there until I was able to sell it. I explained this to the ADT sales rep and he noted on the policy that the contract period would be two years instead of three, since I would be responsible for 75% of the remainder if the house sold. The house did sell and I notified ADT. They then sent me a bill for the remainder of a three year contract. I contacted their billing and she refused to accept a copy of the document by e-mail mandating that I mail it to her. (they had it on file themselves, but wouldn't look for it) I mailed the documentation, then I received another invoice for the remainder of the 3 years, talked to another person in billing that said she would follow-up. Then received still another 3 year bill. So I just deducted the erroneous extra year and sent them a check. Then nothing until today when I received a letter from a collection agency saying that I owed ADT $5.00 and a $69 collection fee. Such a poorly run company with incompetent billing people is a disgrace and they don't even deserve this one star. read more
