To my surprise he looked him over well 10 minutes, then said he was ok, probably nothing. Mentioned otherwise good health for age. Trimmed his nails. And charge a reasonable $120. 2 months ago this same cat had ingrown nail infection. Brought in. This time new different lady Dr. ... Shortly after examining him she says, $750 for blood tests and trim nails and shots for everything. She said it in a weird way ... the price, as if to test me to see my reaction. Seemed too high to me, but love my old cat and just agreed to pay. So now some friends of mine recently saved an abandoned / stray kitty from a tree and the freezing temps. Nice younger, healthy, pretty grey female short-haired cat. I'm considering adopting her ... So I call them as a current client of the clinic today. Explain my situation w possible new cat. Ask them for a general ballpark estimate of costs to get her all taken care of ... exam, spayed and shots. After a few minutes on hold their reply stunned me, it was between $1500 to almost $1800. This is a 2 to 3 year old healthy cat I'm wanting to save... It's only $400 to adopt a cat from other local Boston shelters, all in, because I've already been approved there. I'm saddened because of the outrageous fee's this establishment is trying to charge for what shouldn't be half what the quote was. They started off nice and reasonable, then got stupid, then simply outrageous ! Ridiculous ... I will never go back ! I recommend everyone to go somewhere better before they disappoint you too. 2.7 stars ... Just horrible numbers ... more 1s than anything else. Now, I completely understand why.

So, a review: Five stars for pets hotel/play dates! My dog loves them. Tail wiggles and lots of kisses on the way there, fond farewells on the way out. I snuck in once only to see him cuddling with the caregiver during afternoon nap time. I love the attention, care and professionalism of all staff. And the few times we had to leave him at the hotel, he seemed that he didn't want to come back with us A special shoutout to Hannah, his trainer. She is his favorite human ever, and loves seeing her. Yorkies are super smart dogs, sometimes challenging to train. We started with puppy classes when he was only 5 months old with Chris (who is not there any more) and continued with Hannah. What an amazing individual! She gained his trust right away and taught us (humans) how to better communicate and work with him. When we were away, we book some one-on-one training with her too; keeping the dog both entertained and engaged is important! Three stars for grooming. I don't have a favorite groomer, but a couple of times his nails are overtrimmed and he is really scared going in there grooming salon... Three stars for the store. Nothing special. Overall... we are enthusiastic fans of the petshotel. Thank you to all there for great experiences!!

I'm a helicoptor dog mom who shamelessly obsesses over my chihuahua. I wouldn't bring my dog to just anybody. Dr Kayla really cares. At every appointment, she explains everything to me about my dog's health both now and in the future. She and I have a care plan that we are working on together, and I only want Dr Kayla caring for my furbaby in her final years. But Doctor Kayla is not the only lovely person at this practice - techs Tanisha and Nicole are wonderful. I just started working with Tanisha who is sweet and knowledgeable. I have worked with Nicole alittle longer, and my chihuahua loves her. Everyone at this practice is a pet parent; everyone is compassionate, patient, thorough, down-to-earth, and very trustworthy. Whenever my dog is in her appoinment, I go out for a coffee and/or snack without any worry - because I know my dog is in good hands. Many of the reviews here are from years ago. The new management now in 2026 is truly top-notch. I really mean that. Give this practice a chance now, and you will not be overcharged or disappointed. They are really good and competent folks. (PS: No longer living in the Chicago where - in my experience - the pet vet scene was awful. So when I say someone is a good vet, I mean it.)

There is no better way to describe Lance and his two other trainers as miracle workers. I have a…read more1.5-year-old cattle dog/husky mix who is extremely fear reactive. It was impossible to walk by other dogs without a huge scene or even people without him growling. Baths and nail cutting were out of the question as the local groomer told me to never bring him back, and when I attempted, he would become aggressive towards me. I have always believed in Kevin and thus have been to A LOT of trainers in search of helping him reach his full potential of being a great dog. Away from his fears, Kevin is the sweetest dog. The number of people who told me he was "incurable" and that I would have to simply manage with what I have the rest of my life left me deflated and hopeless. Then I stopped to chat with a woman who was walking her German Shepherd one day and she told me I had to go see Lance. A week later I was sold. Lance has been a blessing. He has achieved more with Kevin in a matter of months than others said Kevin could accomplish in his entire life. While Kevin still has some work to be done, he now can walk by dogs without a scene, LOVES pets from people and even just this week had his first bath and nail cutting without any issues. Kevin's sister is another shining example of Lance's work. She was returned to the rescue by a family who said she was heavily resource-guarding and acting aggressively. My mom adopted her but was worried she was too much to handle. Since working with Lance, Luna is a new dog and easily the best dog my mom has ever owned. It is not just Lance's abilities to train dogs that are so incredible, he is also there for the owners. He understands and allows us to speak our minds and even vent with frustration about the different obstacles we have faced during the training process. He is ALWAYS available to the owners and truly loves what he does and the dogs he works with. I really cannot say enough great things about Lance and his team. If you are struggling with your dog, Lance is the answer. I rarely write reviews but this one was necessary because I empathize with the difficulty of finding great trainers--Lance is beyond great.

Wisdom, experience, care and intuition! We highly recommend training at Compatible Canine!read more

Bella the pittie mix was in their care for over a month, during which time they treated the multiple serious conditions this abandoned dog came in with, including surgical treatment for a painful eye infection. When I met Bella at the facility, I got to see her interact with several of the caring staff and volunteers: Bella was obviously very comfortable and attached to them all. It was touching to see each person take a private moment to sit on the floor, pet her and say their personal goodbyes. From the copy of the extensive veterinarian medical records I was given, I can see that Bella's vet care was proactive, thorough, expert, and regular. Perhaps most importantly there was evidence that Dr. Walz sought and valued the insights of the staff and volunteers who provided daily and hourly care to Bella. For example, medication was issued for a finite period based on the observations of the attentive staff (hives with which Bella came into the shelter reappeared after she ate a peanut butter treat, then a few minutes later ate a bee in the play yard). Bella and I have now been together for weeks and I am learning more about her behavioral and trust issues from being abandoned that will take us time to heal with patience and training. Realizing this makes me all the more impressed with how comfortable, safe and happy she demonstrated herself to feel when I observed her in the care of the shelter staff and volunteers.

I arrived 8 minutes late for my dog's 9:45 AM grooming appointment. Upon entering, I found a line out the door and patiently waited my turn. Unfortunately, no one greeted me, and I felt completely ignored. A groomer, Hannah, glanced outside but didn't acknowledge the growing line. After waiting, I was told I was too late, even though I had been outside for 10 minutes. The groomer seemed stressed and said, "I can't do it. You're late," without offering any alternatives. She mentioned I should've called, but calling while waiting in line wouldn't have changed anything. Instead of offering solutions, I was told to cancel and reschedule. However, there were several options they could have taken to resolve the situation: Rather than turning me away immediately, they could have asked if I was willing to modify my dog's grooming experience to fit the time I arrived. A shorter grooming session, or adjusting the focus of the session, could have worked for both of us. If my assigned groomer wasn't available, they could have quickly reassigned me to another available groomer, which would have minimized the delay and ensured my dog was still taken care of. Alternatively, since PetSmart offers walk-in services, they could have added me to a later slot that day, even if it meant a slightly longer wait for my dog. This would have shown flexibility and a willingness to accommodate. I left the salon discouraged, only to realize I had another appointment in 15 minutes, making me 45 minutes late. I returned, explaining how inconvenient this was, but was met with no resolution--just a dismissive "Have a nice day." The lack of empathy, communication, and professionalism was appalling. A simple acknowledgment of my situation and a few alternative solutions could have turned this into a positive experience. Instead, I was left feeling completely dismissed. As a loyal customer, I expected much better treatment. This experience has left me questioning whether I'll continue using PetSmart for grooming moving forward.
