I appreciate how the staff were patient in explaining all the specifics and details of how to use the bow , safety of the class and also how to maintain a safe environment when not using the bows. The instructor provided us (class of 6) with useful tips on aiming , positioning and also how to load the bows . I would love to come back with a group of 10 to experience the fun atmosphere just like we did and let more people know about this place and the fun of archery or even fencing as it isn't popular in southern PG

We decide to go with archery and price per person is about 27 dollars. First, the facility is a bit hard to find because the front door is located in the back behind the baseball store but atleast it has a big parking lot so no issue there. Upon entering we were greeted by the staff and seated to prepare for our archery lesson. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the lesson fun. You know that when you are having fun that time seems to fly by so that hour archery lesson went by quickly. All in all, I had a fun time here with my family and would highly recommend anyone of any ages come here and try some archery.

Experience: 5/5 Friendliness: 5/5…read moreLesson: 5/5 If you're on MeetUp, I highly recommend checking out the DC Archery Club (and mentioning this Yelp -- so they could claim it eventually, haha). I found this archery area while trying to find fun activities to do in the DMV area since I love trying new things. I have done archery in the past in my youth, but it has been awhile since I've held a bow and arrow. The DC Archery Club, which meets here, practices on Saturdays. They have a free 1-2 hour lesson taught by a volunteer who has been part of this club for numerous years. She actually helped setup the electronic aspects for the club to make sure it has more of an online presence in this world. It's optional to donate to them, but they also note that you could donate $10-20 for those who could afford it to help keep the club alive/offering free lessons. I went at 1:45 pm for the 2:00 pm start time, and I had brought a friend with me. They have parking available (regular parking, not parallel), and it's free! When I arrived, they had greeted me with a bright smile, and Gorge, an older gentleman, also joked with me, making me feel like I'm already part of the family. I was tested for eye dominance, given gear quickly, and we were then taken to the lesson range. There were about 7 people taking the lesson for the day with two instructors. I love that the instructors took the process step by step and provided us tips as well. They did not overwhelm us with all of the information at first but instead focused on our form and then added more information as we got better at aiming at the target. At the end, balloons were setup for us to aim at. If we hit the balloon, we were also given one golden coin, which I loved the gamification aspect of things. It made things even more fun! At the very end, I even tried splitting an arrow (which I failed to do), but it was a fun experience. I'd say definitely give this a go! It's a really fun and welcoming experience. In addition, bring your own water! They have some bottled water, but if you're just visiting or trying it out, I'd say be kind and bring your own (be prepared). :) My advice: bring a hat, sunscreen/sunglasses, and bug spray. We're on the grass for all of it in direct sunlight, but there are some shady spot to rest. I've gotten quite a lot of bug bites from this experience!

I came to this DMV area range after deciding it wasn't worth the drive to Adelphi but also seeking…read moresomething a little more scenic. While the drive is actually quite easy compared to Adelphi from where I live, and the area much nicer, I have to say that the range itself is not. Major problem is the layout. It's excruciatingly ill thought out. I have never seen such a poorly laid out archery range in all my life and I am no stranger to archery ranges mind you. I know space is a premium in the DMV area but to design a range so small, with targets facing multiple directions and one nearly aligned right behind another is just insane and easily jeopardizes the safety of all on the range. The layout also has a real cramping effect on the range. This is exacerbated by the fact that the range is rather popular and has many meetup style clubs that conglomerate upon it during the weekend. Don't get me wrong, I think its great people do things like that but given the circumstance, this is just not the range for this type of thing. Things get even further complicated by the many different styles being practiced on this range in which some people need a particular target to use and then things become territorial. Some clubs (not all though) have a tendency to try and throw their weight around on the range creating problems. This can potentially happen at Adelphi too (archery 'coaching' and clubs is quite a DMV thing apparently), but given how well thought out the layout of the range is there, its less likely to occur. Needwood really looks like a mess actually at times. I think a redesign would benefit the range greatly. I now appreciate Adelphi even more despite how hard it is for me to get to it and regardless of how unappealing the area is.

After chatting with my fellow members and archery lovers at IWLA ARL-FFX, and my bowhunting friends at work, they all swore by Hoffman. The latter was interesting, as my friend lives near Quantico, so the fact that he is willing to drive up to Hoffman's from that distance speaks volumes about the quality. I went up yesterday after work to swap my peep sight and buy new arrows. And I gotta say the entire experience was fantastic. If I couldn't see Hoffman's 100000 rating out of 5, I would!! The entire staff was super friendly and extremely knowledgeable. The store had plenty of the good stuff -- no junk archery crap. And if you have questions or come prepared with stuff in mind, they'll have a healthy discussion with you and ask you questions, so that 1. You get your money's worth and 2. It's catering to your archery goals. Businesses like that are rare to see, and they provide a personal flair that explains why so many peers are repeat customers. The pricing was fair, and I didn't feel like I got ripped off. I received great service from friendly, knowledgeable staff, and I will return for all my archery needs. Hoffman's got a new repeat customer!!

Multiple types of games, zombies, dodgebow, targets, medics, etc. Great for all ages (our group was 30s-50s), even for us out of shape peoples. Bows are easy to pull and shoot pretty well. I called multiple times, but the Owner's voicemail box was full. I sent a text message and an email and never received a response. When we arrived, the building was locked. At that point, we weren't even sure if our activity was happening. Then a separate group arrived and we were all standing around just waiting and perplexed. A woman from that group said she also never received a confirmation email and had been unable to reach anyone. So this wasn't an isolated issue. A little after 1:00 PM (when our activity was supposed to start) two employees arrived. At first they had a hard time accessing the building and had to go through an alternative route to let us in, so that killed more time. The employees explained that the owners were on vacation and all they knew is that they had had instructiins to be there at 1:00 PM. We eventually got started, but several things bothered me. The overall operation seemed disorganized. During check in, the topic of waivers came up and none of our groups had completed waiver forms before playing. I was also surprised by the lack of a beginner safety orientation. The website states that players receive a 10 minute orientation session. We were first time players. When we arrived, safety goggles and small black arm guards were sitting on a table, but they were not handed out or explained to us. As beginners, we had no idea what "those little straps" (arm bands) were for or that they protected against bowstring injuries or that goggles were [required] throughout play. Instead, we only received rules on how the game is played. Another concern was the protective equipment itself. The website shows players wearing full face protective masks and states that protective face masks are provided. However, there are were only goggles provided. During the event, my husband was struck in the eye area by an arrow after removing his goggles because they repeatedly fogged up and made it difficult to see. His eye was sore afterward and bright light is still bothering him. We hope there are no lasting effects. My daughter also suffered a significant abrasion on her arm from the bow. When we asked for ice, the employee told us there wasn't any available and ended up providing frozen popsicles instead. I have no clue why ice wasn't available for situations like these. There were not enough arrows available at times, so players had to wait for arrows to be returned before they could continue playing. The equipment did not appear to be well maintained either. Many of the arrows were missing fins, and some had only one fin left. The playing area was small, and there didn't seem to be enough barriers for the number of players. The space was also very warm, with only one industrial fan running. There was no water cooler or bottled water available for purchase. Finally, disinfectant wipes were sitting on the equipment table, and I guess people are responsible for cleaning their own goggles before use. When I wiped ours down, the wipes came away dirty, which made me question whether the equipment had been sanitized between groups. To be fair, the employees working that day were polite and did their best with what they had. They apologized profusely and even offered to let us play longer due to the delays. The young man was swift with addressing my daughter's abrasion. My frustration is with the ownership and overall management of the business. Between the lack of communication, unanswered calls and emails, poor safety procedures, lack of ice and general operational issues, this was not an experience I would pay for again.
