For this "quality" florist, I am disappointed to see the flowers wilting after only 1 day post Mother's Day and needing to throw out some after 2 days. I changed the water after 1 day. The larger roses are bruised and battered along the edges and looking poorly, the spray roses and hydrangea had to be thrown away after only 2 days. With clean water this shouldn't happen after only 1 or 2 days. read more

I came here on a field trip with my schoolmates from floral class at cuyamaca college. We were able to get a private tour of Adelaide's because my professor Diane is very close to the owners and staff for many years. I got to learn about their processing, family business history, the chemicals they use and how they store they flowers. I even got a private lesson on tropical arrangements thanks to Renee. Having lived in La Jolla for the better part of the last 20 years, Adelaide's has been our go-to florist whenever we need to send flowers locally, or just pick up some flowers to take home. A neighbor's brother recently died and we wanted to do something special. Picked out a very nice succulent garden to have delivered the next day. My husband bought me a dozen long stem yellow roses for our40th anniversary and they never opened up. He paid $150 for lousy roses. When we called we were told we were suppose to cut the stems and change the water daily. No instructions were given with the delivery. No refund either or any help whatsoever. Grocery store flowers are much better and less costly. We will NEVER order anything from them again. read more

Their flower arrangements are always so incredible and the customer service is like coming home to a family member's house for the holidays. I am a long time customer of Adelaides and have had an account with them for many years. I recently place an out of town order with them that turned into a nightmare. Not only was my order not delivered but they claimed they couldn't get a hold of the out of town florist that they placed the order with. They said we would not get a refund from them as it was up to the out of town florist. Finally one of the managers refunded our money, but the recipient never got their flowers and we will have to find another florist to send the flowers. I am extremely disappointed in the customer service and will be looking for another florist to do business with in the future. They advertise & Edie phone rep says they are open today until 5pm (I called at 4:47pm & say "on way" as I need some cut flowers for a present) & that ex-Owner Gina even did my $20k flower wedding 20 years ago). Adelaide's did the flowers for our our wedding and knocked it out of the park. We had a unique color palette and style that Mishele 100% understood. When you're getting married you want to feel like your florist gets it. I'm no floral expert but I knew how I wanted our wedding to feel. We left the rest to her. She's a great communicator, was always upfront about costs and even helped us by spraypainting our custom centerpieces gold. She told them exactly what I wanted, and they were able to deliver a reasonable, beautiful product. My review is based on their consultation services for my wedding. I did not book Adelaide's Flowers for my wedding due to a lack of communication and follow-up. I was able to get in contact with Maribel from Adelaide's Flowers for a Facetime consultation service during the COVID-19 quarantine. She listened to the vision of what I wanted for my wedding and she said she would get back with the proposal within the next following Monday. Monday came around and I did not receive the proposal. I wanted to give Maribel the benefit of the doubt (knowing that a lot of the wedding vendors are going through a hectic time rescheduling/postponing March/April weddings) so I waited 2 weeks to send her a follow-up email. Still no reply... It's disappointing when I told Maribel my experience with another florist not responding to me and she ended up doing the same thing to me.... I genuinely wanted to work with Adelaide Flowers but it ended up being a disappointment and a waste of time consulting with them. read more

Ordered a $125 bouquet for girlfriends promotion at work. A bouquet showed up about 1' by 1'. Flowers were dying. Called and complained and they sent a new bouquet. This was bigger but probably worth about $30-40. Flowers died the next day and we trimmed them and kept them cool. On top of all that, they charged a $25 delivery fee that was never disclosed. So instead of paying $125 for a nice bouquet, I spent $160 (with taxes) for 2 pieces of sheet. Better off to go to Flower Wharehouse and build your own. Adelaide's isn't what it used to be. Been ordering flowers there for over 40 years. Never again. My mom would be rolling over in her grave! So sad to see this.... read more

Our florist, Mishelle was amazing for our wedding! She was kind, calm, and most importantly PATIENT. I made a lot of changes and not once did I pick up any frustration or hint of irritation. The flowers/style looked exactly like I envisioned and that was just me sending pictures for reference. Yeesh...how do you employ a rude person around the holidays? I was walking through La Jolla late in the evening and made a poor Christmas tree ornament choice. I already had concerns about the store with employees complaining that they had a few sales walk in the door at the end of the day. With the death of retail you're complaining about sales? The wife was not keen so we brought it back. One of the employees noted their 'no returns no exchanges' policy. Wait seriously? Especially for Xmas items you're going to reject a mom from even exchanging? It's not like we are in January and then I get it. The employees said they would get a manager and see what they could do. It had only been a couple of days. The manager takes the receipt out and quickly points out, 'you see? It clearly says no returns or exchanges'. Ah yes we all read the small print on receipts about policies around returns for things...we have already bought. Note there are no signs around the Christmas products. It's on the receipt. Saying you can't use that receipt for anything. The manager was beyond rude and brusque and said rather flatly, 'I'm sorry about that' to which I replied, 'it doesn't sound like you're sorry'. Santa is going to sling some serious coal at this piece of work. To add to that the ornament was a complete piece of junk and yet they charged $50 for it. Avoid! read more

I went into Adelaide's yesterday with an idea in mind to piece together a bouquet for my sister for under ~25$. Jessicah came to my rescue and helped me put together a gorgeous mid-sized bouquet. I told her the type of flowers I was looking for and color scheme and she lead me in the right direction all while keeping my budget in mind (without making me feel frugal). What drew me to these florists was the quality of the flowers (no dyes), the large variety, and the care they take in arranging them. Adelaide's is not what it used to be. I have been using them for close to 15 years and this past year their quality has been sub-par. Arrangements are not what they used to be in terms of design and size. Their customer service is poor. They can't compete with Floral Palette. Floral Palette has excellent customer service and gorgeous arrangements! I do not recommend Adelaide's and will not be using them in the future. read more

Adelaide's Flowers was my florist for my wedding in La Jolla just this August. From the beginning to the end, they were lovely to work with - primarily Mishele Freeman. I planned my wedding remotely from NYC, so pretty much everything was done via the phone and email. Mishele instantly got the vision I was looking for (and although I am not at all a flower connoiseur) she delivered the most beautiful bouquet arrangements, centerpieces, etc without me having seen a sample! She also had individual flowers made into a half crown for my hair the day of! I loved all of it and guests made several compliments on the florals. we used Adelaide's Flowers for a corporate event at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club's celebrity suites. they came recommended by the venue and I can see why. From the start, Craig was fantastic to work with. He had phenomenal ideas and gently steered me in the right direction ensuring our flowers wouldn't clash with the venue (since I'd never been and he frequently does the flowers for the club). He was also sensitive to my budget and didn't try to up-sell me which was a relief because being a work event, there was a limited budget. Being a 'corporate' event , with predominantly men present, I wanted flowers but for them not to be overly feminine/wistful. Craig nailed the design. The arrangements were elegant with a beautiful display of greenery, white roses and succulents. It was not only right on 'trend' but suited the space. Also, my biggest pet peeve is too much greenery but this was a very balanced arrangement. I loved it! And most importantly, there were zero issues with delivery. They arrived prior to our arrival and were displayed as requested in our suite. I even received a confirmation email of delivery! You will always be happy with the arrangements. They also sell decorative tchotchkes. When you send flowers you are also sending a subliminal message. Adelaide's - Initial consultation and thought process - Florists Near Me - La Jolla, California

So, I decided at practically the last minute (a week before the holiday) that I wanted a centerpiece for the family Thanksgiving dinner table. After browsing various online floral retailers and lamenting about the waste of collecting vases, baskets, and other flower-holding vessels when ordering online, I was made aware that I could actually take something into a florist and have then use that, cutting down on waste and redundancy. So began my search for a local florist I could hopefully trust with custom arrangement. I selected Adelaide's based on the reviews here on Yelp and called to see if they could do a custom arrangement on such short notice. The woman I spoke to seemed friendly and told me they could get an arrangement done and to bring by my pumpkin (I have one of those open-topped pumpkins that have become so popular for fall arrangements that I wanted to have re-floraled). On the way out of the house, I also grabbed a long, narrow, wire bread basket, thinking maybe instead of a small round pumpkin arrangement, I could see if they could do something more linear, which would better compliment our long table. On my drive over, I decided to get two separate arrangements done - one in the pumpkin, one in the basket. Upon arriving, the florists were happy to see the "pumpkin girl" was here. Gini (I believe her name was) was assigned the somewhat arduous task of discerning what I wanted. Both arrangements needed to be organic, flowy, not-so-symmetrical, and not filled with typical centerpiece flowers. In particular, not chock full of roses, although I did think some mini roses would be sweet. The pumpkin arrangement could be brighter and more whimsical fall colors, as it would sit on the sunny kitchen table, while the main centerpiece would have darker tones of similar fall colors. We decided on prices for the two arrangements and I pre-paid. The whole next week I spent kicking myself for spending so much on flowers, sure I would be let down. Not that the woman helping me didn't inspire confidence, but I am so used to spending a lot and getting little in return that I was sure I might as well have thrown a couple of Benjamins into the ocean. However, when I saw the arrangements a week later, I was floored. They were gorgeous, exceeded my wildest expectations, and well worth the cost. I could not have been happier with the quality of the flowers, expert design, and overall presentation. The layers of flowers, veggies, and other natural elements allowed for new discoveries the closer you look and the quality of materials is exquisite. I will never again doubt the cost and craftsmanship of Adelaide's. Well worth the price and the flowers stay fresh forever. Adelaide's has definitely become my exclusive florist for all my floral needs. Cannot wait for Christmas to have another opportunity for a gorgeous arrangement! read more
