Instead of hiking around a supermarket trying to find party hats, plastic cutlery, streamers and themed balloons, these guys have it all on their shelves. Pretty much any conceivable party necessity from costumes to wedding accessories can be picked up here. I used to come here for party poppers more than anything when I was a kid. Very wide range of stock at pretty good prices. The second part of their party business is the setup element for functions. They rent and set up marquees, bouncy castles, balloon decoration and a lot more. I've been to a good few functions set up by these guys and everything was set up and tied down perfectly. I'd recommend these guys as your one stop party shop.

Apart from the Empire pool lounge, which frankly is quiet seedy, it is the only pool hall in the city. There are not too many pool tables, but every time I have been there, there has been one available. It's not expensive to play, just a couple of gold coins a game. There is also a jukebox, that also plays the matching music videos, so you can decide what terrible classic you want to listen to whilst attempting to hit balls into pockets. I really enjoy the atmosphere up there. I have never felt uncomfortable and it is even suitable for families with teenage children. Importantly, they have a bar so you can sip on a beverage whilst playing. The drinks are slightly expensive, but nothing too ridiculous. The hall can also cater for functions of up to 200 people. The interior decorating is very interesting. They have some of the weirdest statues and other items I have ever seen, there are even things hanging on the roof!

The Ballroom was one of my favourite places to go, and was a good way to spend a boring night on The Parade. Back then I wasn't too bad at sinking a few, but nowadays I try to save myself the embarrassment. The Ballroom would be a perfect place to shoot a bar fight. It's dark and a little seedy, but not too intimidating. There are plenty of pool tables available and the place is hardly ever busy, so you won't have to worry about waiting. In the event that you do have to wait for a table, you can always grab a drink from the bar and hang around or watch some of the other players flex their skills. The jukebox is also another great source of entertainment with tonnes of old hits - although I don't think the majority of the patrons would appreciate playing a game of pool to Vengaboys, so it might be a good idea to stay away from the pop one hit wonders!

AYBS have a fantastic reputation for providing efficient staffing, delicious catering solutions, drinks, complete with licensing and hire equipment for events ranging from boardroom lunches to private functions including weddings and other milestones. I have worked a couple shifts as a caterer and I cannot count on my hand the number of times I have been thanked for the service we provided for these functions. The staff are always lovely and have a smile on their face.

They were to provide me a list of ingredients to buy so that I could hire their cocktail staff to make the drinks on the night. They agreed that this was possible. 3 weeks before the function I wanted to change one of the drinks and they would not return my calls despite trying 3-4 times. When the finally got back to me via email they were rude and told me that "this was a service" they did not provide. Besides obviously not wanting the job anymore, the person who wrote the email was extremely rude.They have put me under significant stress, one week before my function, having to find new staff. Perhaps they are good for corporate events where people spend big dollars that aren't theirs. For the simple customer, I found their coordinator rude and horrible. At $45 an hour rate per staff that they were charging, I found this absoloutely unjustifiable. I cannot believe they they are still in business! I would not treat anyone like this.

It would be a lovely venue for a special event, like a wedding party or birthday party. There's a mix of all kinds of seating and tables. It's kind of art deco plus some other decorating touches. Nice place for a romantic dinner. There's a full bar and menu. I chose the burger to take up to my room. This was in the evening and the instructions were to order at the bar. I've found that restaurant food is expensive in Australia, and even a bit higher here. But the burger was big and came with fries and even a few onion rings. The soda I had was priced about the same as other places. Strangley although I had specified takeaway, it came out on a plate. I wasn't given napkins or anything. When it was brought out to me, a french fry fell off. The bartender saw it, made a comment about it, and then just left it on the floor, which I thought was odd. She didn't come back, so I picked it up. Another fry fell off, so now I lost two. I couldn't find a trash bin and the two bartenders were busy, so I left the fallen fries on a counter. The burger was good, nice and juicy. It was topped with bacon and the usual suspects of lettuce and tomato. There was a mayo topping that seemed to have a mild kick. It comes with beetroot relish but I asked that it be left off. The fries and onion rings were crispy outside. At first they smelled a bit fishy - must have used the same oil - but thankfully they did not taste fishy. It was a satisfying meal, the hit of protein and fiber I needed. The restaurant can be reached by stairs or elevator, so it is accessible. However, I did not use the restroom, so I do not know if it is accessible. There are Happy Hour specials. Check them out.

The number of wedding processions pulling out of the Ayer's House driveway should be enough proof of this. The glass conservatory building around the side of the house is where you'll be for functions, and its impressive to say the least. The table decorations are impeccable, the interior decor is beautifully crafted, and everything is planned to perfection. I came here for a school formal once, and whilst it was very nice and fancy at the beginning of the evening, the kids lifted the roof on the dance floor. Whilst its appearance might put out a quiet, dainty character, once enough PAs are put into this place, it goes off! As John has pointed out, this isn't a walk-in establishment, and is only catered for private functions and big events. This place always seems to have something going on, so its advised that you book in advance.

One of my favourite items is the hexadome and crossover marquees. I used them for a community fair and I got constant compliments about how amazing they looked. They are very stylish and unique in the market in Adelaide. They light up like a big glowing bubble with the use of strategically placed lighting. It is so nice to use something different to the normal pavilion or marquee. I have also used their awesome LED furniture. Once the lights go out, they create such a cool colourful disco effect. Would you believe that they even come with remotes to change their light settings! This is the future baby! Great customer services and support from the team. I definitely recommend speaking to them if you need something fun for any sized event or party!

Catering for presentations is excellent and the screens and sound systems are well configured. The foyer area is pleasant and well decorated. They have a range of coffee machines that can serve anything from hot chocolate to cappuccinos to espressos and just about everything between. When I was here for the Powerful Learning Summit, I found the facilities to be well set up. Lunch was excellent with a wide range of sandwiches, cajun chicken, pasta dishes and vegetables on offer. Staff were also friendly and helpful. Overall, I must say that the convention centre does a great job of hosting events. I was very pleased with the organisation in particular.
