Dinner seating started at 7 so we had a drink and watched the sunset next door (great people and good cocktails) then headed over. Great greeting, nice table. The food was fantastic- steak for me and monkfish for my wife. The wine and bread were great. We struck up a conversation with a French couple at the next table and hope to see them on the path.

After a bit of research I found this place... and I couldn't have been happier. We shared a wonderful bottle of Portuguese red wine, the equivalent of a caprese salad, and a couple of margarita pizzas. Everything was super fresh and tasty. The salad was big enough for two to share.... and contained lots of lettuce and tomatoes and mozzarella cheese with a balsamic drizzle. The pizza had a wonderful toothsome crust that was slightly charred from being baked in a brick oven. It had the perfect sauce to cheese to basil balance. It was so wonderful to enjoy the taste of Italy while traveling through Portugal.

It was easily the best restaurant experience that we have had in Portugal yet. We both ordered the Peregrino special which included soup, bread with local butter and sardine spread, wine, a main dish of either fish or meet, and a dessert of your choice for 12.50€. The sole waiter (who is also the owner) was friendly and personable as he was taking care of many other customers. Given the chance, we would definitely return!

The original place for this was next to the bridge starting in the 70s. But then the building had…read moreto get knocked down and this place moved to its current location since the 90s. I liked this place a lot but I think it was partly because of the vibe of my tour. Simply the tour guide had his hometown near this area and we shared A good snack. Not many people "dine in". So they only have 4 tables. Many people such a bikers stop by for a snack. Some people will drive and order big quantities of baked? Or fried goods to take with them to their families and friends. The woman who knew my guide and serviced me Was extremely friendly and pleasant. The cafe offers a very homey feel being in a rural or rural-suburbanish area. I do suspect that if I was on my own and somehow ended up here, I do not speak hardly any Portuguese. So, I would probably be unaware of the famous local spaghetti squash pastry nor notice how truly friendly the staff is here. Because of its remote location, they don't necessarily need to offer too many options which could make for a typical 4 star experience. I would not consider myself the typical customer or guest here either.
