He came to NYC and did the job in just a couple of hours, along with a few other pieces of wood furniture that needed help. I can't say enough good things about Fix My Furniture. But it seems the company is under new ownership. My more recent job with them was subpar. When I reached out to them, they tried to blame me for misusing the item. The item was a diner booth bench. I was sitting on it! How could I misuse it?! Eventually they agreed to pick up and fix it but not before I had to fight with them to do so. Everyone makes mistakes. It's how you deal with them that makes all the difference. If they had simply apologized and fixed their mistake, I wouldn't have to be writing this bad review.

The cross bar on the bottom of one of the chairs had separated, but I did not realize it. My husband sat on the chair and the leg broke off, splintering as it did. The cross bar broke in half. I looked up furniture repair services, and this was the only one within an hour of me. I called and talked to a very nice man. He encouraged me to bring the chair, and it would be fixed. I made the hour drive, and the owner was waiting outside for me to assist me in getting the chair out of my car. He told me he would be done in about a week. I called about a week and half later, to ensure he had enough time to complete the work. He assured me that my chair was ready and done just as I had asked. When I returned to pick up the chair, he was again waiting for me. I was overjoyed at the quality of his work! It was like a brand new chair -- and when I gave it to him, it looked like it was ready for the trash. His price was very reasonable. I cannot give a higher recommendation if you are looking for furniture repair or restoration...absolutely the best!

On a scale of 1-10, I would rate Jim and the quality of his work at least a 15. Jim sent me photos, of the various stages of the restoration, on a regular basis, just to keep me in the loop. And, the job was done without any excuses or delay. I also saw some of his other projects in his workshop ~ his work is just excellent! Jim is a fine, upstanding person, who sincerely cares about what he is doing. I gladly, and highly, recommend him to anyone looking to do a restoration/refinishing project. I couldn't be happier with the results (as the photos show).

My plan was to use this coffee table as a bench at the end of the bed, however it was very wobbly, not sturdy enough to be sat on, and had at least a 5" crack in the middle of one of the legs. I contacted Jim via email and sent pictures, to which he replied to promptly and provided a rough estimate.... so I made an appointment to bring it in. Jim is both a gentleman, who was a pleasure to deal with, and an expert craftsman, who has 28 years experience in both furniture repair and upholstery. He knows his stuff! His shop was absolutely immaculate and he was both kind and easy to talk to. Top notch customer service :) 4 days later my table was ready! Apparently, it required pretty much an entire deconstruct of the second shelf and all the legs, regluing and reinforcing all interior dowels and then reassembly. The cracked table leg? I couldn't even notice it was repaired! I'm thrilled to have my treasured sentimental table back with the ability to use it in more functional manner as a bench for the end of the bed! I would absolutely recommend Jim to anyone who needs furniture repaired. Overall it was a top notch experience in every way.

Net/net, they did a fantastic job!  The only issue was that it took a long time to get the leather we wanted.  Since they are a small shop, they don't have the quick access that a larger shop has.  However, once they had the leather, it took just a few weeks to complete the job.  Another thing to be aware of is that they couldn't do pick-up and delivery.  I had to get the chairs to them and back home, which we did.   We are so happy that our 25-year-old chairs look like new.  If you have the time to wait and the ability to get the items to them, I highly recommend their services!
