Initially they were not easy to get ahold of as the HVAC season was at peak however neither was anyone else. I had them come and provide a quote for air quality as my original HVAC provider quoted a very big number and would not explain why the number seemed so inflated. The person who came on site was informative and gave me several options, all of which were a fraction of the other quote. Absolute worst service company I've ever had to deal with. In late May, I called Adams and asked for them to service our generator which has been leaking oil. The customer service rep I spoke with suggested that I sign up for their membership and schedule it as "annual preventative maintenance", assured me that that service would take care of the issue and that the amount of money I'd end up paying for the membership would even out/be less than what I would have to pay for the service call ($169/hr, give or take 2 hours to fix the leaking issue). She made it make sense and I truly felt like this person was looking out for me. She scheduled the PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE for June 19th and said that I could call back any time to sign up for the membership and that it would be covered under my monthly payment, which I did. On June 16th, a tech showed up at my house. I was confused because we scheduled it for the 19th, but figured it was better we get it looked at sooner. The tech was professional and friendly, but nothing was resolved as he couldn't see where the generator was leaking from after letting it run for several minutes. He cleaned up some of the oil that he could reach and told me to check it in about a week to see if I could tell if it's leaking from the front or back. I asked him if he did the rest of the preventative maintenance stuff since that's what I scheduled this as, and he showed me on his phone that it was actually scheduled as a service call. As soon as he left, I called Adams to try to resolve the issue with scheduling. I was told that the person that scheduled me would call me back. The next day, since I didn't get a call back, I emailed info@adamspower.com and explained what happened, asked if I'm still scheduling for the preventative maintenance on the 19th, and making sure I wasn't going to be billed for a service call since I was told that I wouldn't be. They responded that I was not scheduled for the 19th and that my billing dispute would be escalated to finance and that an Elly would call me in the next few days. A week later, I checked back in, no response. I let another week and a half go by, with no follow up from Adams. I thought maybe since I wasn't being sent a bill, maybe they weren't going to charge me for that service call after all. Since I was already feeling like I couldn't trust this company, I decided to call and end my membership. The runaround that they put you through is insane. First person says they can't cancel my membership and that it would have to be escalated to financing, transfer me to a different line, get sent to a voicemail that will never reach back out. I call again right away, am told that they can help me with whatever membership questions I have and I say, "great, I'd like to cancel it." They try again to transfer me but I say I don't want to be transferred, I just need my membership canceled. I get put on hold for a few minutes, then finally they come back and say that it has been cancelled. And I'll be seeing a refund. I ask if I'll get an email confirmation just for peace of mind, she says that I'll just see the refund and that she can send me an email herself stating that my membership has been canceled. It's been 5 weeks since that call and I've gotten no email and no refunds. I wish I could say that was it! A few days after I cancel my membership, guess what email I receive from them? My invoice from the service call! Why would they wait to send me an invoice over a month after the service, right after I end my membership? Since then I have been calling and emailing, with absolutely no help. I keep being told that it's been escalated to a manager, billing, finance, etc etc. and that I should be expecting a call back. I think they're just waiting for me to give up. And after seeing other people's reviews and experiences, I don't feel so alone in the way I've been handled as a customer. read more

Adams installed an iron filter to take the smell out of my water. The results, after spending $4,000, the water still smells. The first system that Adams installed, resulted in a sand type substance coming out of all my facets, Adams said the equipment was faulty so, they installed a second unit, cost me $1,500. That unit did not reduce my water problem. I had a second plumber evaluate the problem and they suggested that I spend another $2,000 for additional equipment. Adams serviced my home standby generator last year for $175. The work performed was satisfactory. As a result, when Adams called this year to ask if I wished them to perform the same annual service I agreed. The technician performed the work and finished in less than thirty minutes. Later, I received a bill for $299. This bill was for the exact same service as was performed a year prior, and they expect me to pay an increase of more than 70% above last year's price. No verbal notice was provided to me during the scheduling of this service about this exorbitant increase in the pricing of their services. I have attempted, multiple times across multiple days, to have a revised bill sent to me, because this price increase, coupled with the lack of communication about said price increase, is absurd and unreasonable. During my communications, I have offered to pay more than what I paid last year, and have asked for a new invoice. Ultimately, Adams did send a new invoice. This one for only 20% above the price of last year's service. Included with the new invoice was a sheet detailing their new pricing structure. I have no intention of working with Adams again. The annual maintenance is something almost any person can perform, especially thanks to the copious amount of informational material available through YouTube and elsewhere. Greed was their downfall, and I caution you against working with Adams. read more

Had Adams in for some electrical retrofitting and updates to and older home. Awesome company to work with. Did the job as requested, efficiently and competently, fairly priced. Right on time, they were able to complete the job without telling me the wiring was not to code (which i already know). It's an old house, and they did what was needed to make it closer to code, and more importantly, made it safer for my daughter to live there. Terrible experience so far. Adams placed the generator on our lot back in early September. I expected that they would be coordinating with my electrical contractor, Meier Electric to get the unit operational, but essentially nothing happened for the next two months. I made inquiries to my contractor and received no response. Finally started calling Adams directly and after the project manager did some digging, they finally found my account and got me on the schedule for start-up last Wednesday, just before the big storm hit on November 27. The technician arrived and immediately told us he could not finish the job because the propane company did not install a regulator, however two different techs from the propone company told me that Adams always wants to do the final regulator install themselves, so it became a finger pointing contest with me, the customer holding the short end of the stick. The propane company, Ritchie Propane were the only ones who were actually responsive. After I had to call them (even though the Adams people said they would), they came out immediately and installed a regulator. The Adams technician said that I only had to press two buttons and the unit should start, once the gas line was completed. I did that and all it did was crank and crank - no fire!. Of course, Adams did not respond to my frantic calls and predictably, we lost power that evening. Luckily, I was able to pull out my old portable unit and hooked up about 10 extension cords and was able to get the essential systems running. Meanwhile, I have to look outside and see a $10,000 unit that is about as useful as a boat anchor. Have not had even a phone call back from Adams after two days and I do not expect to. Terrible integrity and only looking to charge you and not actually maintain or repair anything. They have been "maintaining" our standby generator for 5 years, but never once came inside to test that the power actually switched from shore to generator power. Needless to say, we lost power and the generator didn't power anything because the auto voltage regulator was shot. Two other neighbors also have generators installed and maintained by Adam's and theirs all failed for the same part. They would have identified that if they ever actually tested it via the breaker panel in the basement. We called and they said the customer has to request they test the generator circuits, but how is a customer supposed to know that needs to be done? They never mentioned it or asked if we wanted it done. But we still had to pay for the annual maintenance even they did not complete to work they were required to do. Getting a refund also now seems like it will be a difficult process. Do business with them at your own risk. read more

Where to begin. Purchased a generator after flooding in 2017. Serviced it yearly with Adams, as others mentioned the service cost went way up! In July it did not run its weekly test. Adams sent out tech and we were told it needed battery, then it needed 2 more parts, etc. We were given a bill of $1400 and left with a non running generator!!! They said it needed a new motor, but it would be a problem to get one. But they sure wanted to sell us a new $10,000 generator. We called another service from Spring Grove, Il. The tech believed it just wasnt adjusted properly. He was correct, all it needed was a valve adjustment. In 45 min he got it running and it turns on every week for its 12 min check. Cole, the VP of generator operations, will not return our call. This is a shortened story, but I have zero respect for Cole and Adams Electric. It seems he needs to send his technicians back for training at Generac. Sounds like other reviews agree that they are not the ones to call for generators. But sadly, there are few options for service in this area so many turn to Adams Electric. DONT! read more

Misleading sales tactics. I was solicited by one of there appointment setters. Ashley called me and told me I had a tune-up left on my contract (I purchased a 4 pk). I questioned her if I really had one left, she confirmed that I did. Adam's came out and serviced my a/c, they did a good job doing that. But I was surprised that I was billed for the service call that Ashley told I would not be charged for. I contacted the billing department, I was then informed that Ashley "was mistaken" and I would have to pay for the service call, an extra $125 that I had not planned on spending. Basically, their company made an error and I got stuck paying for it. I am not happy with the companies lack of accountability. I have been a long time customer of Adams/Logterman, now I will be going elsewhere. read more

Waited two weeks for a tech to come out and look at our generator since we had just bought the house and it was our first with a generator. Tech says we need a battery, gaskets, and an oil change. He doesn't have the "specialty" battery or gaskets in his van and did not do the oil change. Told me to contact the office to set up return visit. After two weeks of calls I was told they were having trouble finding the battery. Called another company who came out next day and had a battery with him, did the oil change and didn't know what the guy meant that gaskets had to be replaced. No one I talked with since knows what the heck was so special about the battery that it could not be obtained at any auto supply store. Received a bill for $140 from Adams and paid it rather than fight it. I live in a smaller equestrian community with an active social media network so I took the financial hit for my neighbors and warned them to avoid this company. The company the community used sold out to another who referred me to Adams which services my zip code. Companies forget communities now have social media accounts that rapidly spread the word on who to use and who to avoid. BTW I checked with the chain auto supply store near me and yes they have the battery for my generator in stock. read more

I called Adams Electric because our generator was not working. A guy was sent out to repair the generator. He spent 4+ hours working on the generator. Upon completion he indicated that he had installed a new battery and we received a $700 bill. Within a month we lost power and the generator did not kick on, we again called Adams to come out to repair and we were told that we needed a new battery. We diluted the assessment indicating that we just had a new battery installed 1 month ago. Adams agreed and installed another battery for " no charge "; but we again received another invoice for for over $700; in which Adams claim that the charge was gas a service charge. We met Adams Electric at the WI State Fair and had been thinking about buying a generator for about 9 months. After talking with them we knew we wanted to buy one and we wanted to buy it from Adams Electric. Don, the VP of Sales came out to our house about a week later to see what size we would need and answer any additional questions that we have. Don is very knowledgeable and honest. We closed the deal before Don left. About a week or so after Carolyn, the coordinator for installing generators contacted me to set up the day we wanted our generator installed. She was very organized and said she would follow through with any and all permits that we might need and she would handle everything and she did. The Service Technicians, Jason & Jeff came out and installed our generator. They did an amazing job and arrived actually a little earlier than they said they would. They were very professional and had our best interest in mind the whole time they were there. They showed me what to look for and watch out for and answered any questions that I had. When they were done they had cleaned up everything in the yard and left me no mess. If your in the market for a Generator make just ONE Call to Adams Electric, they will take care of all your needs from top to bottom. We lived over 2 hours from their company and they never made a single comment on how this might be an issue and they handled this as if we lived down the street from them. One of the guys that we had originally spoke to at the WI State Fair was Ben, the Owner... he never mentioned it and was as polite and interested in our needs and concerns as anyone could be. I contacted Adam's electric for a generator quote, and Don came right out. He was easy to work with and dove right in. Our house was difficult because of our geothermal system with large electric backup heater. They had to work with Water Furnace to rewire the system so as to minimize the size generator required. All of this took a great deal of time and coordination, but Don and the electricians figured it out. We were able to get it all to work with a 22kw home system rather than spending a lot more for a higher output water cooled unit. When installation time came, the guys were very courteous and thorough. The installation took longer than expected due to the complexity, but they completed the job without complaint or added fees. Overall I highly recommend Don and Adam's electric. They spent a huge amount of time on this project and ended up completing the job in a timely and professional manner. Great work! read more
