Seems like this place is still somewhat of a secret because I only learned about it through word of mouth from my massage therapist. A fear of risking further injury to my bones and joints usually makes me hesitate getting chiropractic adjustments, but I found that doing just muscle massage alone really wasn't enough to effectively relieve the lingering aches and tightness in my neck and back related to a car accident. It makes sense to me that applying a combined treatment of medical massage (and/or acupuncture) along with joint adjustment and physical therapy exercises should provide far better results than relying on just one method by itself. The catch is finding good healthcare providers and being restricted by certain insurance coverages.
Turns out that Dr. Adam Diorio has amazingly skillful hands and a smooth technique so I felt no pain when he manually adjusted those areas where my range of motion was limited (neck, shoulders, back). He explained what he would do and made sure I was ok with it before actually doing the adjustment. I was prepared first with 15 minutes of heat and electrical pulsing to relax my body, which helps minimize reflexive tensing up before the cracking. I cringe every time I hear the crunching sound of my joints moving back in proper position, but it's worth enduring that for the almost immediate loosening and pain relief afterwards.
Dr. Diorio has an exceptional, easy-and-approachable bedside manner, thorough knowledge of his profession, and a pleasant sense of humor. I felt like he actually listened to me, and I appreciated that he also took the extra time to give suggestions on simple exercises to try at home that would support my recuperation. And, best of all, Dr. Diorio is punctual!!! The outside waiting room is quiet and comfortable, and the single unisex bathroom is very clean. His polite front desk staff brought me inside at my scheduled appointment time and, unlike many other doctor's offices where you're put into a room only to still be kept waiting and wondering when the doctor will finally walk in the door, it was only a few minutes later when Dr. Diorio came in to see me. He's not one of those chiropractors who won't touch you unless you get (and get charged for) an x-ray or just checks you for 5 minutes and then onto the next patient. Dr. Diorio will fully address your health concerns and give you useful and substantial feedback.
Dr. Diorio is a chiropractor who gave me a truly positive healthcare experience, and I hope he gains other positive reviews (if more people know about him) in the near future! He doesn't seem to have a business website (yet) or electronic receipt processing (his workman's comp patients require hardcopy documentation). I paid out-of-pocket, and I thought his fees are reasonable ($100 for the initial visit and $50 thereafter), especially because his technique and treatment worked quickly and well. Located on Pecos close to the freeway, the plaza parking is fairly plentiful and easy to get in and out of. It's a small and modest office, no fancy or unrealistic promises here, just competent and careful treatment by a responsible and trustworthy chiropractic doctor. :) Dr. Diorio's high-quality service will have me returning, and I'm strongly recommending him to my family, friends, and fellow Yelpers! :D read more
