The PA I saw was helpful and prescribed me a couple of medications that I think will help. I did feel rushed by the provider and MA/nurse though. My appt was for hair thinning. I gave my insurance card to the front desk and checked in. When I was taken back, I had to sign a form saying that I understand that my insurance might not cover this service because some companies classify it as cosmetic. I asked the MA/nurse for an estimate of the visit if insurance didn't cover it. She explained that the price depends on if I get a Rx etc. I understand that. I mainly wanted an idea of the visit charge. I decided to stay because I was embarrassed about the idea of leaving. I spoke with billing today and she was kind and helpful. She explained that the office charged my insurance company about $450. I'm worried about the price of the visit as I'm struggling to pay my expenses. I'm disappointed that I wasn't given the information at the time of the visit. read more

Amended review: I rated this place 5 stars 2 years ago. Was a 5, now a ZERO! I've use them several times in the past few years. However I will NEVER use their services again and would recommend to avoid this place like the plague. Their billing practices are HORRIBLE and atrocious. They scheduled me a year in advance for my next appointment, which I added to my calendar. A couple of months before my appointment, they called me while I was working and said that they needed to move the appointment to a week earlier. I did agree, but didn't update my calendar as I was busy at work when they called. As a result, I missed the appointment and they charged me $50.00... when I called to dispute the charge and explain the circumstances. I was told that there was nothing they would do about it and if they removed the charge they would have to give everyone a credit for their missed appointment fee's. I've had a better experience speaking with the IRS. This place is a money-grubbing cesspool and be forewarned that they will charge you for whatever they can and not be reasonable at all. I even offered to pay 50% since I was partially responsible for not updating my calendar. I'm absolutely disgusted and if you do end up going there, good luck... you better have a chain attached to your wallet! I made an appointment for a routine preventive skin check and possible mole removal. The doctor said the mole removal would be $200 each so I said no thanks. Then he offered to freeze 5 skin tags of my choice with liquid nitrogen and he would charge me $75 for all 5 spots. I said that sounds like a good deal. He told me to pick the 5 spots I wanted frozen and he proceeded to zap them. Took less than a minute. I paid my $75 as I was leaving and thought that was the end of it. Yesterday I got a $249 bill! When I called to inquire what it was for and why there was no credit for the $75 I paid I was told the $75 was just for the liquid! The actual procedure was $217 and they don't bill insurance for the liquid. She was very condescending and proceeded to tell me of course they would have explained it in the office. No, they did not! He said $75 for 5 spots. Not once did they ever mention that was just for the liquid and I would get a separate bill for the procedure. If they had, I never would have consented. What a scam. Each visit lasted about 15 minutes and included a very superficial mole check--despite clearly noting a family history of melanoma. Our family is diligent about thorough skin exams because they are truly life-saving. When I called to express concern, the office manager was dismissive and offered no apology--essentially saying "that's just how it is." A year ago, I originally gave this place 5 stars because of the service that I received. I have had 2 appointments with them without any issues. Today I received a letter from Teresa Graklanoff, PA-C that I found very rude and disingenuous. I do not know who this woman thinks she is sending me a letter like this, but she needs to be counseled on how to correspond with patients. She stated that I missed an appointment and that she has instituted a $35 deposit for patients who do not show for their appointments or give less than 24 hours notice when canceling an appointment. Had I known that I had an appointment, I would have shown up. I am not irresponsible as this letter implies. I DID NOT know that I had an appointment. The letter does not even mention what date the appointment was supposed to be. Whatever happened to courtesy day before telephonic reminders? The last time I had an appointment was a year ago. If I did schedule an appointment for a year out, then I forgot all about it. That courtesy phone call or even a reminder post card would have been very well received instead of this threatening letter. After losing my job and having to switch to Medicare as a senior, I was billed almost $600 for a 5-minute visit with David Barclay P-AC. He found a single small spot on the side of my face which he zapped with liquid nitrogen. My bill was $563, of which I was told my responsibility was $156. Its hard to believe how doctors can get away with this type of pricing for literally a five to ten minute visit. When I spoke with their billing department, I was told the billing is not based on time, but on the "physician's assessment of the situation". What an absolute rip-off. Awfullllll! I called to make an appointment for an allergy kenalog shot and the girl said they did them and asked if I can you get there in 15 mins I said yep l left work and headed over. Got pulled back just to find out the doctor I saw "doesn't feel comfortable" giving those shots for allergies. I know the risks involved and it's the only thing that has worked for me. He did no exam on me and told me to continue taking allergy pills like I have. I then checked out frustrated and was charged $100 copay. I called back later to request a refund because I didn't feel like it was right that I paid for the doctor to deny me and they said they would talk to him and call back to see what they could do. Update I heard back from billing the PA I saw Jason Smith feels the charges are "appropriate" which I completely disagree with since he gave me no information that I didn't already know. Meagan in billing is very condescending and rude. Another update: Week later I heard from Mart the office manager and he was so beyond mean to me right off the bat. After 1 year, the soonest I could get an appt with her was 6 mos out and the openings have only gotten worse. I scheduled an appointment for my daughter to have her warts frozen off. Since I was bringing her in I figured I would have my one tiny wart frozen off as well. I came in fully anticipating to pay the $30 copay for each of us to have our warts frozen off. The medical assistant asked us to sign a document on the iPad. I asked what it was and she stated "it's just recognizing that warts can take a long time and can become costly" to which I responded "it's covered by insurance, right?" She responded "yes". I signed the document still believing the office visit was covered under our copay and that there wasn't going to be additional charges. The provider told us about wart peel which I ordered (for $100). She then said if she froze them off it would jump start the process. So we did it. I would have never agreed had I known it was going to be billed in a way that we would be paying out-of-pocket over $400 for the freezing, as well as our insurance being billed, and the additional wart peel cost. I have spoken with Patient Services and Billing but they aren't able to do much. They will refund me $31 (15% for my wart service). Unable to do anything for my daughters bill. I am very disappointed and shocked by the response/resolve of Ada West. Be careful what you are signing! read more

I've worked with many doctors and nurses for cosmetic procedures and fillers over the years in different states. The worst result I've had had-to-date was with Dr. Boozalis who injected filler into areas I did not desire and did not fix the area I came in to correct. How I looked after her work was disturbing and continued to be so. She graciously offered to correct without charge, but was not readily available to do so. I finally had all the filler taken out by her as I my face was misshapen. My lips are still uneven. I also felt more pain with Dr Boozalis's work than I have before. I found Trista Shakeridge owner of Aesthetic Beauty who knew immediately what I wanted and needed and corrected with filler for immediate facially enhanced aesthetic results---and no pain. Can't say enough praise to and for Stacey Driskell. My younger son went to her for laser hair removal after a complex pilonidal cyst removal from a general surgeon. We didn't know where to go for the laser hair removal initially, but my large family has been going to Ada West Dermatology for years, so I thought I'd give them a call. Due to my son's anxiety and concern for privacy, since pilonidal cysts are in a delicate area, it was imperative he went to someone with knowledge, experience and discretion. From the beginning, Stacey made my son comfortable with the treatment, it was quick and painless. She was aware of my son's hesitancy and nervousness, and made what could have been an uncomfortable experience, the best. She's down to earth , explained the entire process and had relatable conversations. We are so grateful to her for how discreet she is and how comfortable she made my son feel. read more

The providers at Ada West Dermatology are great. The office staff and billing department leave much to be desired and for that reason, I will not be going back. The Treasurer Valley has many providers and when you only spend 5 minutes with a provider and pay $213.44 for the provider to have a prescription refill (granted it had been over 3 years since I had been there - however was the same prescription and same issue) - that is crazy. Even more crazy is that they make you pay for the appointment prior to the coding and sign off by the provider or submitting to insurance. PLUS they cannot even provide you with a detailed receipt. I call back a week later and they say they may able to provide a detailed receipt in 7 - 10 days, but no guarantee. Really? However, they could take my money immediately. The staff in the billing department was combative and could certainly learn a bit about customer service. Patients have options, and the billing staff has directly influenced my decision to not go back. If you are on the fence of who to go to for your care, I would avoid Ada West Dermatology for the above reasons - there are many competent providers in the Valley- just avoid this group. read more

I got booked for a new patient appointment, showed up right on time but got stuck with lots of paper work. The MA took me back and made it a point to state that I "finally showed up." She had me stop doing paperwork and asked all the questions herself but became frustrated when I couldn't remember all my medications and allergies. Then she gave back the paperwork and told me just write it down. She didn't have me in a gown like I was expecting for a skin check, didn't undress at all, also the room was set up for the next patients excision not me? They had all sorts of tools and sterile gloves out on the counter. I don't think that was for me because the Dr. came in, took a look at me, said "oh that's this, see you when ur 40." And left. I am very disappointed in my experience with Ada West Dermatology. It originally started when I went to get my mole removed that had changed a little in appearance. This was my first time going into the office. Dr. Wells said he wasn't too concerned about it, but suggested sending it in just in case. I had asked the MA how much the appointment would cost and she responded with "insurance will cover it because it is preventative". Which I took as it being completely (or at least a big chunk) paid for by insurance. I got the mole shaved off, sent into the lab and tested. I then received a call saying what they found was not cancerous but again, may as well remove the rest just in case. I then got the bill in the mail. After going through two insurances, it came to $1,700. When I was under the understanding it would be "covered by insurance" as I was told. I called and asked about it and was told "I hate when our MA's use that wording. I wish they would use the word accepted rather than covered". There was no budging on the bill as they said it was the cost of the lab and the procedure. Very disappointed in my experience as of this point, but then it got even worse. Throughout the next year, I did EVERYTHING Dr. Wells instructed me to do with caring for my scar to reduce the appearance of it. I used creams, I massaged it, I protected it from the sun, etc. Even after this, my scar healed terribly. I had many people tell me that I should go back into the office and show Dr. and have him redo it as it looks awful. I got a call to schedule my annual appointment and told them I didn't want Dr. to look at anything else on my skin other than how my scar has healed. I wanted this appointment to be as cheap as possible. I then emailed to get a quote on pricing of this appointment before going as I was not even going to go if it was too expensive. I was told by two different people on the phone the same thing on two different phone calls. That after running through both of my insurances, I would only be paying 20% of the total appointment. I then asked for an email saying this quote. They sent me an email saying the estimated rate is from $63.00-$248.00 depending on the level of the office visit. I emailed back asking for them to include that I would only have to pay the 20% like they said and got no response. I went to the appointment as scheduled and then emailed them again a week after the first email stating "just following up on this" with no response again. My appointment was a total of 10 minutes. If I had to guess, Dr. Wells was in the room for 5 of those minutes. He asked if I wanted him to look at other spots on my skin, I told him no, only to look at my scar. His response to me showing him how poorly it healed was I have youthful skin with elasticity and collagen. The only ways to make it heal better would be to continue doing the creams/massaging as I had been doing, get it redone when I was old when my skin had less elasticity, or pay for a laser treatment. 3 weeks later, I emailed again as I received my bill of $92.78. Even if my appointment was the $248.00, 20% of this would be $49.60. I explained all of my dissatisfaction in my email to them. I got a call from them and they said they would have Dr. Well's assistant give me a call to explain the pricing of the appointment. I got a call as I was losing service, so the guy said he would call me the next day at 11am, no big deal. The next day, no phone call. Weeks go by and I call back as I never got a phone call. I called back and the lady tried explaining it to me the best she could and said Dr. Wells is able to choose a code which would then price the appointment. She said out of the two codes, he choose the more expensive one and that she would have him give me a call explaining why, but not to worry about timing as they don't charge more until after 90 days of receiving the bill. Again, weeks go by and I don't receive any phone call or email from anyone at Ada West Dermatology. So I finally called again. This time, the lady on the phone told me that Dr. let them know that he coded me for the lower priced appointment and that this is the cheapest price he could've charged me. Not sure where the $63.00 quote came from up above if $92.78 is the cheapest he could've charged me. I decided to just pay it as I knew I was not going to get anywhere and now it's almost to the point of being charged extra as the 90 day period is approaching. Nothing I am told by the employees at Ada West add up or agree with what other employees tell me. It is constantly me calling back to follow up even though they tell me they will. It has been months and months of terrible communication, terrible service, terrible with following up, and a terribly healed scar that I have paid $1800 in total. I wish I would have NEVER gone to Ada West Dermatology and I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

The office itself is very impressive, but don't base your experience on that---doctor was very uncaring, forgot to give me my lab sheet to get the labs she wanted, but when I looked it up what she was wanting me to get, it had NOTHING to do with what I am going through? I felt like I walked into the room knowing much more than her???? I brought her everything I had been taking to make her job much easier, but without examining me, asking questions, diagnosed what I had and then said "yeah, it could go on for 2yrs...." I greatly wish that I would have read this reviews before using this place. But the more of us that speak out, the better. I came in to request testing for dermatitis herpetiformis, a rash unique to Celiac disease. (I was showing a lot of other medical symptoms of this condition, as well). I made the P.A. explicitly aware that after going off gluten for a few weeks, I had gone BACK on gluten for barely under two weeks to prepare for testing. (Deliberately eating gluten to generate an antibody response for testing is called a "gluten challenge.") He indicated that this was OK by proceeding with testing. This is wrong. I only later learned that actual protocols call for *at least* one month of a gluten challenge. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4435051/ I ended up with $800+ in charges from the office visit + lab fees and no definitive answers. When I seek care from a medical specialist, I am paying their egregious fees because I expect them to know more than I do and hold expertise that I don't. This was not at all the case here. My daughter needed to have her skin looked at before school started. Thankfully, they could squeeze us in with a provider before we see the pediatric dermatologist. We saw Theresa and she gave us lots of tips and tricks to help clear her skin up. We did have to wait a bit for our appointment but they are super popular, especially before school starts. It's with a heavy heart that to had to fire my Dr at Ada West Dermatology today. Not for anything he did wrong but for the total disrespect for people's health shown by the check-in process and the state of their lobby. Is was like the Lord of the Flies in there. Then when trying to discuss it with the office manager I was told that they were not going to "live in fear". When I tried to explain the science and studies behind why their lobby should be better controlled I was told "oh we're not going to get into that". And then I was told I could take my business elsewhere if I didn't like it. Those poor receptionist are standing shoulder-to-shoulder! I had seen specialists all over the country, and traveled the world looking for someone who could treat my condition. One of the Doctors who I will not name in this review gave me a their personal cell phone number which I had used very sparingly. That Physician was incredible. I was a regular Medical patient of Ada West Dermatology for 10+ years. At the height, I had three appointments per week. This morning, I attempted to make a follow-up appointment with the Dr. and was told rather rudely by the front desk that I could not make an appointment without a referral from another physician. I have been publicly speaking about my condition all over the country. I have also recommended Ada West to people struggling with my condition. It is absolutely clear that the culture in this office has switched from 'providing care' to 'billable events.' This company does the bare minimum for their patients. The provider I saw talked over me while I was answering questions he asked, making me wonder why he was asking questions if he didn't want to know the answer. The main reason I came in for my visit that day was met with "I don't know what that is but lets try this antibiotic for three months and see what happens". With no follow up appointments. MAJOR billing issues. I was told my insurance wasn't correct at the time of my arrival, so I was told I would need to sign a waiver to my rights for insurance to be billed. When I asked if I would be able to call once my insurance was sorted out and they would provide me with a refund and bill any other charges to my insurance, I was assured that I would definitely be able to do that. After 3 weeks of calling and trying to sort everything out on my end, with no assistance from them whatsoever, I finally got it resolved and was told that they wouldn't be able to charge my insurance because I didn't have a referral. This is not something I was told I needed or had ever been mentioned to me before. When I brought up the fact that I was assured I could call to be reimbursed, the lady stated that I signed a waiver that stated I was declining all use of insurance. I had been lied to and deceived. Had I known there was no option and it had been made clear that I would not be able to use insurance at all, I would've made a different appointment. They also wouldn't take my HSA because the amount left on my card wasn't the exact amount due. They did nothing to help me, stuck me with the bill that I feel they coerced me into signing away my rights for insurance. I have insurance and have had insurance for years, their company is the only one that had problems with it and refused to try to even bill my insurance because it wasn't listed properly. Assuring me that it would all be squared away after I fixed the primary insurance listed, I was left again with a bill and no help. This company is deceiving, delivers false promises, and does the absolute bare minimum to help their patients. I will never go back or recommend to anyone. read more

AVOID this place if you are a self pay patient!!!! I would not give this place one star. I am self pay and was given an estimate of $80 when I called and scheduled the appointment. When I arrived I had to pay $80 before I was seen and another $56 at check out. I was in the room for less than 12 minute. 2 weeks later I received a bill for an additional $67 dollars. I was not informed that I might receive an additional charge once the doctor writes up his notes. My total bill was $203 for less than 12 minutes. I had pre-cancer squam cell on my ear June 2019. They removed it and billed me 300+ Dollars. They said they would in-house finance the balance due for 90 days with no interest. I agreed and have until September to pay it off. By July 20th, I have a Bonneville collections company calling me all hours of the day and night for the 150 left on my balance due. I called and talked to Heidi and she advised because I was a week late on a payment, I am in collections. Now my credit is ruined and I am suddenly paying interest for something i was supposed to settle with them by this September.
