I have been going to DeBlieck Dermatology for many years. I liked the ability to be able to pay $100 for cryotherapy on the many keratosis I get. I also have a chronic problem with skin cancer. 5 out of 8 of the last lesions I observed were cancer. A few yeas ago the office lost a biopsy that was taken and they could not charge me for it. I was told not to worry about it because the site had been destroyed. I let that one go, but I had three scabs on my nose this spring for three months. This is a typical basal cell cancer for me. I have had over 10 removed from my nose so I am very sensitive about this. I made an appointment for June 23, 2020 to have this biopsied and have a treatment for my keratoses. She looked at the thick scabs on my nose an told me they were pre-cancerous. She did not offer a biopsy, which I thought strange, and treated them with liquid nitrogen along with the keratoses. I also asked her about the strange lump on the other side of my nose and was told it was cartilage and that comes with age. I was very dubious of the nitrogen treatment on what was , to me, an obvious cancer; however I waited for the burn to heal. It scabbed over again. I had to wait until the first of October to get in to my skin surgeon who biopsied the scab. As expected, it was a basal cell cancer. It took until the second of November to get on his Mohs schedule. The cancer was so deep, a skin graft was required to cover the hole in my nose which was the size of my thumbnail.
with my history, that spot should have been biopsied without question. My skin surgeon said that had I gone any longer, I would have lost the end of nose. This is not the first time Dr. DeBlieck would not biopsy a suspicious growth.
Although Dr. Deblieck is personable and I like her personality, she is not careful and when she is tired appropriate treatment is skipped. . I went in to the office to pick up my records and told the staff why I was upset.. After I got home and reviewed my file I discovered the entry for 6/23/20 was missing. I called and went back to get it. There was no mention in my file of any discussion or treatment of my nose or the fact that I came to get it taken care of. The cryotherapy of the keratoses is the only thing there. It appears to me that it was carelessly left out or purposely omitted. I feel she should retire. read more
