Full disclosure: I was approached by the door to door window consultation, set up an appointment…read moreas I have been looking for windows. My house was built in the 60's and I have a combination of single and double pane windows. I clearly want and need to replace the single pane windows, so I scheduled an appointment. I did not purchase windows from this establishment. The product looks reasonable, the salespeople however were rude. Let me preface this by saying that I WANT new windows, honestly. If the salespeople weren't as pushy or rude, I probably would have bought from this company. We get down to business: The night starts as they welcome themselves into my home. They walk around my house and good-cop/bad-cop the windows while taking measurements. "Oh these are awful old windows!" / "You got mold here probably!" etc. They sit down at my table and continue by rifling through many many poorly photocopied consumer reports and letters in a binder, talking about how good the windows are, how good their installation people are, and then a bunch of numbers and percentages without really giving you time to digest it all. I had let them know that I didn't intend to purchase on the spot this evening, and that I'd like to weigh my options. At this point, the older gentleman gets a little visibly upset, and basically says that I'm wasting his time. I explain to him politely, that it's my right as a consumer to weigh my options, and that it would be irresponsible of me to make a decision on the spot without talking or viewing other types of windows or companies. We continue.. They bring in large windows, heat lamps and trim options, similar to what Stephan G. experienced in these reviews. We went over pricing options, financing etc. Everything seemed pretty in order, and pricing didn't seem too bad. They offer an additional percentage off that "...goes away as soon as we walk out that door". I said that I wouldn't really be making a purchase today, as I'd like to find out more information and weigh my options. They started to pack up, called their manager for one final push, and then headed for the door. The older gentleman thanked me for my time, the younger gentleman got a little pushy and hot headed. He basically tried to goad and pressure me into making the purchase on the spot before he left. Two and a half hours later in total, they left. I didn't really appreciate being goaded by a window salesperson in my own home. I most likely won't be doing business with this place in the future regardless. If I do, it won't be on the account of their sales team. Good customer service and manners go a long way.

I originally was going to replace only two sets of hated vertical blinds...but Laurajean's selection caused me to "upgrade" to doing all of the windows in my town home (all of the other window treatments were builder's grade vinyl mini-blinds. Harrison Street is easy to work with...and fast delivery!'' There was a problem from the manufacturer with the width of a few of the blinds...and another manufacturer's problem with imperfections in the weave of one set of blinds for a patio slider. Laurajean and her installer (husband) Jim took care of everything to my satisfaction. Be sure to hold your sample up to the light - some of the blinds aren't as "view blocking" as I expected from the outside when the inside lights are on, but fortunately my town home is situated where there's next to no foot traffic passing by those windows.

JAS added a major addition to our house about 25 years ago. Over the years we've had many windows…read morefail, which isn't really on them; we should have bought better windows. But one failure that has recently been repaired to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars revealed wholly inadequate waterproofing around the installation of second story southern exposed windows. All that had been used was tar paper and expanding foam, where waterproofing membrane such as Tyvek would have been appropriate. Extensive and not at all typical rot was the result, to the point where water was coming in and leaking into walls and coming out the ceilings below the windows. Hopefully the problems around the installation of our long ago job have been since addressed, but I still have a bad taste from the experience. JAS had a chance to find these issues in the intervening years, they did do minor window repairs, but we didn't find the extensive damage until they'd told us politely that we didn't have a basis for doing business any more, and referred us out.

He kindly knocked on our door to let us know it was at risk for moisture leaks, but instead of giving us a high-pressure sales pitch, he simply left his card and told us to call him in the summer if we wanted a bid. We had already received a different bid that felt incredibly high, so we decided to call Zoom. His quote--even with several added upgrades like a brand-new leaf guard gutter system--came in way below the competitor's price. Throughout the entire planning phase, Zoom was incredibly thoughtful, hopping on multiple calls with us to seamlessly coordinate the schedule. When it came time for construction, his hardworking crew knocked it out of the park. They completed the entire tear-down, structural decking and sheathing replacement where needed, composite fascia installation, and new shingles in just over a day and a half. The new gutters were installed a couple of days later and took only two hours. We are so grateful for the speed, efficiency, and incredible work ethic of the crew, but above all, we appreciate Zoom's genuinely caring, flexible, and zero-pressure approach. I needed my 80 year old basement garage floor epoxied. I had a bunch of companies provide quotes…read more Some actually provided quotes without even coming out and inspecting my garage. I didn't trust these quotes at all since I knew my old garage floor was not in great shape. Obed showed great knowledge with epoxying floors. He pointed out a bunch of cracks and pits that would need to be opened up and filled. My garage also had something strange where someone had extended the footing with additional concrete. This caused extra concrete ledges around my entire footing. Obed said he could address all of it. I also needed trim installed and he said he could do that as well. Even with the trim install, his quote came out competitive with the other quotes. Obed did an amazing job with the garage floor epoxy and the trim work. I was very impressed with the end result. I know he went above and beyond to take additional time to fix issues so that the end result would be good. For example, we agreed to have one small part of the extra concrete ground down so the floor would be flat. As they were prepping the other extra concrete for epoxy, the concrete actually started cracking and falling off. Without charging me extra, they also removed this extra concrete so the end result was an entirely flat floor without any additional concrete ledges. After grinding the floor, Obed realized that it would best to level the floor. Again, without an additional charge, he leveled the floor. He also filled in a bunch of concrete holes and voids on the concrete step by the door leading into the house. When installing the trim, they took the time to specially contour the bottom of the trim to match the many dips in my old garage floor. While leveling did help with the dips, my garage floor just had some extreme dips. In the end, I was beyond happy with the end result. I originally hired him to epoxy my floor, but he ended up fixing so many different things and made the entire garage better because of it.
