You would think they would mentioned that I needed a covid test prior to coming in. I mentioned that they should please consider what it takes to take time off to see a doctor (and I live remotely, so an hour to drive) but was dismissed and said to comeback when I had my covid test completed. They're located in the AK Regional medical buildings. They have a lovely facility, clean, bright and friendly. Their office staff is quite nice and we enjoyed friendly conversation with them. The doctor's had a great sense of humor, which we both thoroughly enjoyed! We've been there a couple times and for the most part, felt taken care if. The annual physical was very different from what we have been use to over the years. That may just be a change in the time and a way that doctors differ in their care?! Bedside manner was excellent from everyone... medical assistants and doctors! Lab work was done in-house, the day of the appointment rather than in advance and results discussed... neither of us cared for this method, but we were informed we can do them earlier in the future. They're fairly quick to return calls and they utilize a web based portal to get messages and lab results to you, which is nice. Overall... I'd definitely recommend them for your everyday family practitioner needs!

They often didn't fully listen, assuming they knew what I would say and not really hearing me or addressing my concerns. Then they started charging for questions or follow up communication through the portal - that was the final straw. They made the excuse that "other places are doing that too" and "you probably didn't realize since it was in the fine print on a form we had you sign." I'll take my business elsewhere.

The nurse receptionist was very pleasant, took husband's details, and took him back immediately. I was invited to go with him, which I most assuredly wanted to do, and see him get a needle in the arm. She examined the puncture wound, after taking all of his vitals. She was very fast and efficient. I expected to have to wait for a doctor to come in, which is kind of standard in any doctor's office, in my experience. The doctor was there within a few minutes, and he had a good sense of humour, which I liked. He told husband to rest the foot, and keep his weight off it. ( "that ain't happening" I muttered under my breath) He also said that tetanus isn't in Alaska. I found that curious, and I googled it. So whilst it's rarer up here, in my opinion, I would venture forth that if anyone was gonna get it, my husband would be the one. He's quite an unlucky fella. Anyway, the tetanus booster shot was prescribed, and the doctor left the room. Seconds later, the nurse came back in, and administered the shot, and put a bandaid over the puncture wound. No antibiotics were prescribed at this stage, however she said they'd be in touch in two days to make sure it was healing well, and to contact them should any signs of infection become apparent. We were in and out within 20 minutes. Now yes, this is a smaller office, and I personally prefer it, due to how speedily we were seen. I had a wait of over 2 hours when going to the one where REI used to be. That one is large, with lots of receptionists, and we had to wait in the car, till we were called into the building for an examination. I prefer this small office approach.

I think she was Filipino. I don't remember her name but I gave her my new patient forms. She was rude when talking to me and I was confused because previous doctors I've had to do labs I've had to go another facility. So I didn't realize I had to go to the lab across the hall before turning in my form. She then had to raise her voice slightly and it really didn't sit well with me. I work in customer service and it really makes a difference when you talk to a worker who's respectful and nice to you. Every other point of contact at this place (receptionist who checked me in, doctor, nurse, the lab workers across the hall) were very professional except for her. In fact after I came back to turn in my form and give a copay, she was on the phone and her tone of voice was completely different and very nice to who she was talking to. Because of the excellent care from everyone else I will continue to come back.

The front desk staff will put you through to the medical assistants voicemail which says they'll call you back within "72 hours" which apparently in medical terminology means "never". This has happened to me on 3 separate occasions now. Moral of the story: if you have a simple question for your nurse or doctor, just make an appointment for that day. That's the only way you'll get an answer. Extremely frustrating!

My mother spoke so highly of her and swore if anyone could help me, it would be Sara. I walked into my first appointment feeling so overwhelmed and I left feeling like a complete idiot, only because I had not gone in to see her sooner. I felt silly for being so overwhelmed, not because she minimized my problems, but because she made me feel like I could finally start managing them. She's incredible. I've been through so many different health care providers, and she is one of a kind. She truly listens to you, she truly cares, and if you have any health concerns she's going to get to the bottom of it, almost as though she takes it on as a personal challenge and will not be defeated. She is your biggest champion and advocate. If she can't sleep, she goes down rabbit holes reading about how to solve problems for her patients. She does that shit in her free time, and it shows. She's absolutely brilliant, kind, and going to the doctor has never been more of a delight. I have now been a patient of hers for almost two years, and she has absolutely turned my life around for the better. Her husband and co owner is also wonderful, and together they make quite the dynamic duo. She's a busy woman with lots of patients, children of her own, etc., but if you need her, she will absolutely make the time for you, and that is a quality unfortunately uncommon in the healthcare industry. Our most recent encounter was tonight when my toddler needed staples from a (boy injury) on his head. Dr. Jessica was so amazing. She ushered us in a room And was so good with my 3 year old. (He did better for the staples than the vitals lol) They are always so quick and so helpful with wonderful bedside manner. I'm glad we're only a few minutes away in case disaster strikes and they will continue to be my go to urgent care facility.
