He told me it was the first time in 40 years he's had to have this conversation. So rude. It's the first time in near 50 years I've had to try to justify why I am unhappy about the sweatshirt. Of course no receipt - wore it out the door as it was raining. Resolution was keep it in a bag and bring it back next time I'm in San Diego or mail it for a new one with prepaid packaging to mail it back. If you know you are selling items that commonly do this, warn the customer, put up signing or remove the item from your store!

Inside, the place is packed with every kind of recreational gear you could want; bikes of all kinds and sizes, surfboards, rollerblades, wetsuits, and more. It's clearly a well-stocked shop that caters to just about anything you'd want to do near the beach. What stood out most, though, was the staff. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, making the experience quick and easy from start to finish. Kiernan (and the gentleman who worked the next day) were awesome -- welcoming, upbeat, and made sure we got exactly what we needed before heading out. If you're staying near Pacific Beach, Ray's Rentals is absolutely worth checking out. Just a heads-up -- they do require a deposit for rentals, at least for the bikes.

Thankfully when we called the guy at the store he did a FaceTime and helped us figure out what was going on with the lock. When he walked us through on how to unlock the jammed lock, he knew exactly what was going on. Overall it was a great experience and very friendly service at a very good price. We rented the beach cruisers which is the very basic bike you can get at $15 an hour, and then helmets and baskets are extra. It was worth it and we'd rent bikes here again!
