I called numerous Chiropractic offices before going with this one. I actually didn't know that my insurance had any coverage on this. My insurance coverage allows twenty visits and my co-payment is $30.00. (I used to pay out of pocket on my Chiropractic care, thousands of dollars!) I hurt the right side of my neck a couple of weeks ago (I couldn't lift my right arm without feeling pain), and then my lower back, also the right side, was in so much pain, that I felt it with each step (did a bunch of things, such as icing it for 20 min, took a few pain pills- it's just temporary, and it was almost better, just not 100%). I carry a heavy bag, and sometimes my dog pulls me when I walk her. I also did a bunch of different squats last friday night. So I hadn't been here in a while but I did love going on the stretching machine with ice, low pressure, though. And a few minutes later, I saw the doc, told him what was going on, he used a big tool, up and down my back for a few minutes, he felt the tightness, and did some work on my neck and back. My back felt better. He said I might need another adjustment next week. I really like the doc and the staff is very nice too. I am compelled to share my unfortunate experience that unfolded during my visit to Active Health Chiropractic on April 21st, an incident that has left me in continuous pain and triggered a frustrating dispute with the chiropractor and their insurance company. My aim is to forewarn others about the perils I encountered, in the hope that no one else has to endure the pain and hardship I now face. On that day, I sought treatment at Active Health Chiropractic for discomfort and muscle spasms in my middle back. Dr. Don Vuong was the chiropractor entrusted with my care. Regrettably, my experience at the clinic took a negative turn when Dr. Vuong not only adjusted my back but also chose to perform an unwarranted neck adjustment. It is essential to underscore that I had never experienced any neck-related issues before this incident. What is particularly concerning is that two other experienced chiropractors I consulted following this incident, with over 30 years of experience, expressed their disbelief in adjusting my neck in a situation where no neck issues were present. They rightly pointed out that every procedure carries risk, and the question arises: why, without neck-related complaints, would a neck adjustment be administered? As the days passed, the stiffness in my neck escalated, leading me to seek medical attention a pain management specialist. Despite earnestly adhering to the Dr's prescribed treatments, my condition showed only marginal improvement. I then proceeded to spend over $2,000 on Physical Therapy over the course of two months which definitely helped but I seem to have hit a wall and am not getting any better now after 6 months post injury. The repercussions of the unnecessary neck adjustment have been far-reaching. I now grapple with daily pain, a severely restricted range of motion, and the inability to engage in the physical activities I hold dear, such as mountain biking and gym workouts. These activities, which were once a source of joy, now cause me pain for days following any strenuous activity, something I had never experienced prior to Dr. Vuong's adjustment. To add to my ordeal, I experienced a severe vasovagal syncope episode during my initial attempt to work out post-adjustment, a distressing experience that was entirely foreign to me. Further exacerbating my concerns, I discovered that Dr. Vuong had administered an adjustment to Melissa Turney just one day before my visit. Tragically, Melissa experienced a vertebral artery dissection and stroke following her adjustment. Her review detailing her ordeal can be found here and on Google. I want to make it clear that I am not insinuating any ill intent on Dr. Vuong's part, but my grievance arises from the fact that both he and his insurance company deny any wrongdoing. I am not seeking to lay blame; my intention is to hold them accountable for their actions. All I requested was for them to cover my insurance deductible so that I could undergo the recommended cervical facet joint injections, a request that was regrettably denied. This experience has underscored for me the importance of carefully considering any neck adjustment by a chiropractor, especially in the absence of neck-related concerns. If any mishap occurs, it appears that you are left to fend for yourself, as the chiropractor and their insurance company may not extend the care or support you expect. In closing, my hope is that by sharing my story, others may be more cautious in their choices and that chiropractors and their insurance providers may be more mindful of the consequences of their actions. My wish is to prevent others from enduring a situation like mine, I implore you to do some research regarding neck adjustments. I have been a patient for about a month now. Dr. Don is kind and during the initial session he starts with a consult and treatment. He is busy and has many patients, however, you feel that your time is worth it for each session. I have seen other chiropractors who see you to waste the first session with consult and a few more sessions mostly talking and 10 minute treatments on a machine. I feel like I am rushed in and out. They seem to waste your time and money, but I feel that my time is valued here. I'm glad that I found this facility that is in-network with my insurance and close to home! He had great manners because he would know about me and ask if anything new was happening in my life. My first ever Chiropractic visit, due to intense back, hip shoulder and knee pain all on the left side. It was debilitating! I'm a pretty active person, but I could not even stand long enough to make a cup of coffee. We knew it was all down to our mattress( only 5 years old ! ) It has sunk and misshaped so much that both myself and husband abandoned the bed and went to the floor. After seeing Dr. Vuong twice a week for 3 weeks my back was finally back aliened to the point I could walk again. The new bed arrived a week later and I have not had one issue since. Everyone was extremely kind, the office was clean and efficient. The reason why I am giving them one star is because I went in 3 weeks ago for an adjustment and ended up in the ICU for three days. Immediately following my neck manipulation I was extremely dizzy and lightheaded. I kind of stumbled out of the office and I was told I needed to drink lots of water because I was going to feel a little "off." I was a little concerned about driving home but I didn't express those concerns at the time. However, upon arriving home safely my symptoms became worse. Over the course of 2 hours the dizziness became unbearable to the point where I couldn't stand on my own because everything seemed to be spinning. I was vomiting non-stop, I started seeing double, and the left side of my body went numb. I called Active Health Chiropractic, and told them what I was experiencing. Their instructions to me were to rest and hydrate. That because I hadn't had an adjustment for 3 years this extreme reaction was expected. I followed their advice. The next day a friend heard of my predicament and immediately demanded that I go to the ER where I received two CT scans, an MRI, and earned myself a three day stay in the ICU after experiencing a vertebral artery dissection which led to a stroke. Thank goodness for my friend who knew the signs and symptoms (after another friend of hers experienced the same thing after visiting a chiropractor). The neurologist told me that they have seen this time and time again with people who have had chiropractic neck manipulations. The reason I am giving one star is because when I called back and told them my symptoms I believe they should have directed me to the ER instead of telling me to drink water and lay down. I have since learned of many many people who have had this same experience. I think all chiropractic offices should be prepared for emergencies such as this. Were not for my quick thinking friend I was told I would have been paralyzed or dead if I had waited any longer to go to the ER. read more

This place is fantastic. I went to a couple of chiros in the valley a few years ago but this place is by far the best. Small little office in a strip mall, nothing fancy, very professional from the equipment to the staff. I haven't ever waited more than 10 minutes. Their hours are extremely flexible and it's fairly easy to get an appointment last minute. I have been told they have a massage therapist on staff but she is booked the next two weeks. You can use the traction table prior to your visit if you desire, and are offered heat or ice therapy which is very nice. I had a shoulder muscle issue the last several days and the ice was awesome and much needed. Dr. Don is a great chiropractor - very personable, professional and knowledgeable. My personal trainer referred me to him and I'm glad I took my trainer's advice. The first time I was here was over this past summer for a lower back issue, and after an adjustment from Dr. Don it felt a lot better. I have experienced quite a bit of pain and muscle tension headaches since last Monday. I tried a deep tissue massage on Saturday from another establishment but the massage didn't seem to help. So, I turned to Active Health Chiropractic and finally have some relief from the pain. I went here twice this week for adjustments to my shoulder and neck, and they have improved significantly.
