Located in America's heartland, Lee Smith and Associates works their magic all over the United States (we're based in New England). Lee Smith and Associates' shining star (in my humble opinion) is a young man by the name of Mitch, whom we consider to be our companies greatest resource. Mitch is the very image of professionalism, knowledgeability and integrity. And trust me when I say, he knows the 'who's who' in the medical and pharmaceutical industry. Whenever we have an opening, Mitch is front and center with a roster of celebrity-status candidates (I'm talking crème de la crème) with lightning-fast speed. This companies followthrough is just as impressive as their network of employers and candidates. Not once have I had to ask for something a second time. Not once have my calls not been returned. And not once have they provided less than what we needed. If there's an award for excellence in the recruiting industry, Lee Smith and Associates deserves top honors.

I felt compelled to write this review about ER Select, a staffing firm which has an office in Des…read moreMoines, IA -based on an experience that I had with them while I was looking for work (I've since found permanent work and don't need them anymore). I applied to a job listing in early May for a marketing position, and shortly after I was contacted via email by a representative of ER Select, or, Employee Relations Associates. Of course, the first order of business was for me to come in and meet with them. They instructed me to bring two forms of ID, and to dress business casual, which I obliged. I was set to meet with ER Select on May 7th at 1pm. I ended up meeting with Lacey, the director of recruiting operations for their Des Moines, IA office. We talked at great length about my previous experience in Marketing, what positions ER Select had available, as well as what career I was looking for. I felt we had a great rapport, the interview went great, and I was generally excited to find out what positions I could potentially be placed at; after having spoken to Lacey about all of the Wells Fargo positions they supposedly had upcoming. Everything sounded very promising. Lacey stated at the time that ER Select obtains positions pretty much all of the time, but when I met with her it was the end of the week, so I probably wouldn't hear anything until early next week when they usually hear of new positions. I never heard from Lacey, and so I followed up with her a few times; on one follow up, the overall tone of the call was if I was disturbing her, or she was too busy to talk. I got the impression that I probably shouldn't call back to check if they have any positions available. Ever. Lacey told me that whenever they got something in, they would call me. I probably made a total of three follow up calls at most, maybe not even that many. In any case, I wouldn't waste my time with ER Select. It's much better to deal with more professional, well established staffing firms who already have a solid footing in the Des Moines, IA metro area. According to ER Select's website, they've only been around since 2011. This is probably the reason why I had the experience that I did? And if ER Select doesn't like this review, then they need to take better steps EVERY TIME, and make a reasonable effort to be a resource for a job seeker. I would NOT recommend ER Select to anyone. They are a waste of time and space in Des Moines, IA.

A few months later, I was hired into a full-time position with this bank. ER Select helped me so much in getting me ready for the interview process for this position. Every few weeks, the agent who hired me from ER Select would come to the bank and check-in with me and see how I was doing. ER Select cared so much for me throughout my time with them and I cannot say enough about how much they mean to me. Absolutely AMAZING staff and incredible passion from all of their employees. So many that determining the right tools to achieve the outcome that you specifically are looking for is near impossible and certainly overwhelming. Not only does Jen know the tools available, but she also knows what to use and when to use them for her clients. She masterfully determines what you need even if you are not quite sure yourself... even more, Jen has wonderful personal experience in business and life and is a student of her craft and clients. The results I have achieved working with Jen are beyond what I expected. She holds me accountable and knows when I need a softer approach. The Energy Leadership Index was a great tool for learning and was fast to take and gave me helpful feedback on my strengths and ways that I approach life and work, especially how I handle stress and challenging situations and relationships. What I liked best was that it was very thorough and to the point and quickly helped me become aware of things about myself that were good to have pointed out. These insights and understandings helped me find better ways to handle challenging situations and people in my life. After the tests were complete, they told me the position I applied for was no longer available. They told me they would call me if a similar position opened up. Two weeks later, I was checking their jobs website and found another position that would fit my skills set. When I called and asked about that job, they said the job was no longer available, but they would call me if a job became available. I haven't heard from them in four weeks. I hope they weren't trying to give me the brush-off. Why have jobs listed that are not available?
