A couple games weren't working right in the arcade, but everything else was fantastic. I'm so glad we came. The kids had a blast jumping and playing a few games. We tried the laser maze and at first had some trouble, but we pushed the call button and an employee was over to help us quickly. He was very nice and reset the game for us, it worked fine after that. Since we'd never tried this before, we went for medium, that was way too easy for us. If we tried again, I'd set it at expert for the adults. Need a bit of a challenge. My favorite thing was the go karts. They went so fast and we were going around the track for a bit which was nice. Seriously, I've never been on go karts this fast. Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. And everywhere was clean, including the bathrooms. Aside from the couple games not working right (blue games that are included in the play or combo pass), I think everything was up and running. I loved that they had a spot for parents to chill too, there's lots of places to sit too. Really cool place with something for everyone. read more

Went to Metropolis for a night with my family, enjoyed the water activities. The next morning we checked out of our hotel room, and went to Action City to jump on the trampolines. Not only was it extremely spendy, there was a sexual assault that took place at the facility. We informed the employees, who said they were managers. they escorted the man out without calling police or letting anyone know what happened. when we asked to help file a report about what happened they told us they would not help. The one worker actually said "he didn't touch me, so I don't need to call to file a report" we are paying customers in your facility. You should care enough about the women and children that paid to be there. So overall. Not thrilled with the experience and lack of compassion from staff during the assault that took place. So now that man will be walking around probably doing this to other people because Action City let him get away by walking him out the doors without calling the police. read more

Nice little day trip from the Twin Cities! My son and I took our Friday MEA day and drove the 1.5 hours from the Twin Cities. Parking is very easy and the employees are very helpful. We played arcade games, VR, go karts, mini golf and the trampoline park. My kid enjoyed it all! The go karts are quick and lots of fun for being an indoor track, they do get busy so be prepared to wait. The trampoline area is huge and they even have a ninja course! They have outdoor go karts, a zip line and lots of things to keep your kid and most adults happy for hours! Food is good at the restaurant and they have a DQ, so you can satisfy that sweet tooth! My kid said he wants to go back so I'll call that a win. read more

I went with a group of friends to action city on July 16th we were having a good time until we decided to go to the go carts around 8:45pm. The person running the area said we would be the last group. When he said that a group of boys also waiting those boys said to my group "hope your ready to get hit we are not going to stop" During the entire time they were purposely hitting each other and us causing multiple crashes. The carts where stopped multiple times. Once while the ride operator was walking past I said this was not okay and he replied that they where just having fun. They also were hitting a different group which was a father with his young son. After all that when the red light finally showed the people that it was time to stop my friends and I pulled into park like we were supposed to but the boys kept taking laps with the ride operator not saying a thing and laughing along like it was okay. After waiting a bit in the pit stop they where still taking laps so we just stood up and left the building. Overall, my friends and I had a good experience at action city other than that altercation at the very end which ruined my friends and I's night. read more

DO NOT GO!!! We spent $100 and could only do around 3 games. We were told "you can do all games", but we could only do "blue games". Those "blue games" are about 2% of the games they had and they were always full. The go karts were decent at best. Highly recommend going somewhere else. read more

For what it is, Action City is a decent arcade. Features include go-karts, a batting cage, a rock wall, lazer tag, bumper cars, mini bowling, mini golf, and a bunch of different arcade games. The system for purchasing games is a little different: where you pay to load a card, and then swipe it for games. I've had good and not-so-good experiences here. Good: my best friend's wedding was in one of the rooms adjacent to the park, and we got full run of the arcade and go-karts. The staff was pretty friendly, the place is usually relatively clean, and we had a good time. Not-So-Good: came here once for a trip with some friends, and there was a drunken bachelor party, where everyone was visibly wasted, riding go-karts. They should have been cut off after they began smashing into one another, and at one point, one of the groomsmen passed out in a go-kart, effectively shutting down the track. Also: I think the prices for arcade games are through the roof. You're spending $2.00 average for everything you do. read more

Go-Karts? Check! Laser Tag? Check! Mini-Bowling? Check! Arcade Games? Check! Climbing Wall? Check! Skeeball?!? Check! Every which way I turned I was met with action packed adventure! The evening was truly a night of non-stop excitement! When we walked in, each member of our party applied for an authentic Action City Fun License, which is basically a pre-paid card that eliminates the need to haul a cup of tokens around to play the games. To play a game, you simply swipe your card and go to town! It is super addicting so three of us blew through $130 scary fast. These kinds of places always seem so expensive to me for what they are, but since I don't go to them on any sort of regular basis, I have no real basis for comparison. Granted, it was a fun, random night out and it was a fun alternative for 20-something people who felt like skipping a night at the bar. I think it would also be a blast for kids' parties, as Action City had a number of private "theme" rooms where groups could stake their own private claim for pizza consumption, coat storage, and tired mom resting zone. It looked like these required a reservation. Otherwise, there were open tables available for smaller, casual groups. I have to add that the highlight of our night was cashing in all the tickets we'd accumulated within the group to purchase a crockpot from the Action City store. My family and I LOVE Action City and will continue to go. That said - there's some real neglect happening here. The batting cages need to either be attended to or shut down. They do not work. One side is completely broken and steals any balls the functioning side can use making them a 20 minute ordeal to just hit your share of balls, or you abandon it out of frustration. The staff does NOT CARE when you tell them it's broken - they do however give you money back. I don't want my money back - I want to hit balls! Same goes for the rest of the arcade - if a game breaks, they are not interested in fixing it. The Dairy Queen inside is a great feature and we partake almost every time. The staff is nice, if not dismissive and not particularly interested in solving any of the ongoing issues. There is so much potential here - please take the time to repair or replace the machines that don't work. It ruins the experience! read more

I use to love going to action city for the mini golf course. They have let it fall apart. The bricks are no longer secured down. There is metal railing the should be in places but no longer is there. The green turf is turning black. The water is green and has chunks of something in it. Lastly all the holes either have junk in them or are full of green water. This place is ok. It's the only arcade in the area so we have to make due. Their arcade games are over priced...but I guess they can get away with it because they ARE the only one. (I go to the Dell's now and then and their games are less $!) I'd like to see some competition. However, their mini-golf is fun and reasonably priced. If you've never been here before, let me take you on a journey of a horribly managed, misadventure-land. First, you walk in to a pricing board that might as well be written in a foreign language. You can spend all day trying to figure out what is included at what price. After feeling like an idiot, you finally get to the counter where a 14-yr-old tries to help you while your 6 and 4 yr old are already cranky from waiting in line. After finally determining what you're going to buy, your kids run off to have "fun". Oh wait. Only some games are included the "pass". So, even though you paid more than $30 for a 3hr pass, 85% of the games are excluded from the price. Those are cash games where you have to put money on a separate card. Don't worry, though, you can win tickets for expectedly awful prizes. Ok, so maybe most of that is par for the course for these types of places. But wait, there's more! The indoor go kart track had ONE available car that could seat two people (adult and small child). So that meant waiting in line, eating up large portions of the 3hr pass. In addition, one of the air hockey games didn't keep score. The fooz ball table was unlevel, which meant the ball kept rolling into an unreachable corner. There were multiple coin operated games...like actual coins! Why have card swipers AND coin operated??? This doesn't even count the multiple games that were out of order. Look, I get places like these are money pits. But this one is particularly frustrating because of how it's run and managed. Maybe if they had one person on duty each day that that could legally vote, it might help. read more

The only arcade in town (maybe a few small ones in game shops if you look hard enough), and thus, the best option. It can sometimes be packed with a lot of people running around, which means you may have to wait a while to play a game in particular. They seem to have gotten better at keeping machines repaired, employees properly placed, and the place now seems to run smoothly. Besides the Arcade, there's a hotel with a bar/eating area, water park, mini-golf course, go-kart racing, mini theater, and now, a trampoline park . They seem to be doing a good job of keeping the place relevant by adding these new features/attractions. read more

Came here with a large group of around 15 adults on a Wednesday night in April. We were the only ones there. We started off with the go-karts because we are all huge NASCAR fans (Dale Jr. to be more specific). The indoor track is a nice track but not too difficult. The staff was very strict to use an appropriate term, on every little bump or contact they would turn the go-karts off and not say anything before turning them back on. So I wasn't pleased with the go-karts. I don't even want to get into the laser tag, all I'll say is that is was "lacking". The arcade games were just that, arcade games. Recently (02/09/14) visited here for a birthday party my boyfriend's nephew was having and I liked the variety of games and fun attractions they had, but I feel customer service wise they didn't do a good job. Because we were there a total of 3 and a half hours and the garbage cans were extremely full, there were tables left with garbage on em for at least 2 to 3 hrs. And no guests were seated there. (This is referring to my experience visiting the arcade for the first time). Complete rip off. My boyfriend and I were looking for something new and exciting to do.. so why not the arcade? Sounded fun until halfway through we realized we got completely ripped off and did NOT get our money's worth. First off, they do not do the classic token machines, instead you purchase an X amount of "tokens" and they get placed on a card.. this technique makes the amount and worth not at all equivalent to what you should get. So for example, we put over $20 on a card assuming that it would give us an hours worth of arcade games at least... we were there for half an hour if not less, and only got to play 10 games on it. Each game COSTS money, not tokens.. and each of which is over priced for a single game. Furthermore, the games are limited beyond belief.. this isn't a genuine arcade. Again, for example, a game that would originally give you 4 balls to toss per game, only would give 1 or 2, limiting your game and ticket winnings, and costing you extra money (multiple machines did this!!). They may have had a great selection of games but that does not outweigh the cons of this place. Definitley not coming back, even if it is to try other parts of the park. read more

Where the fun never stops!...until your card doesn't work. I used Groupon to get a deal at this place, luckily I did or else I would have demanded some money back. We got to Action City in the morning, so there wasn't a lot of people. The first time on the go karts was good, then we went to the maze. Next, we decided to do laser tag, my card wouldn't work. Mind you all 3 of us got 5 hour unlimited play (expect laser challenge we could only do twice and only the blue arcade games). The person at laser tag let me go since the other 2 cards worked. That was really fun! Then we went to laser challenge, again mine and my daughter's cards wouldn't work, took 2 times to go up to the counter to make them work. We couldn't understand 1 of the games, nothing special there. Then we did mini golf, you can tell they don't take pride in their mini golf. The batting cages my fiancé did on and off, at the faster speeds there is no accuracy for where the ball should go. After a couple of times you have to go around and kick the balls towards the machine. There were a couple of arcade games that were broken. The food wasn't a horrible price. The rock climbing was good, we did the go karts again. I wasn't happy the second time, there was a kid driving before our turn that was bumping other people and running into things, they let him go again during our turn. So, when he hit someone everyone slowed down. I understand why they slowed everyone down, but why does that kid get to go again and again? The prizes I wasn't happy with either, a lot of candy, I wish there were more toys my daughter could have chosen from. All in all, I would never pay full price and only would go back for a really good deal. read more
