Action Audio & Visual gets high marks from me for a number of reasons. They have a great selection of lights as well as camera mounts, etc. Even better, their staff really is on top of their game when it comes to knowledge of when the equipment is booked, how it all fits together, as well as what other equipment you may need for a given day. The folks over there are pleasant, hard working, and take the time to show you how to assemble and disassemble gear if necessary. They are generous with their time and service. The gear itself is in good shape--a few dings and scrapes, but definitely a cut above some of the more "mainstream" rental houses out there. And their prices are fair. Even better, their staff won't give you any sort of "attitude' if you're not renting out $100,000 worth of gear. I have picked up one cassette recorder from them in the past, and they treated me as if I had just rented a warehouse full of stuff. That's great customer service, and you can't get that just anywhere. Even better, the location is in North Hollywood, which is incredibly convenient for most of us to shlep equipment back and forth. What's really nice is that you can drive almost right to their front door. No hauling gear across a huge parking lot. Great experiences with this company. read more

My first contact with Action was on the phone with Sam. He was able to provide me with clear and precise information on a variety of projectors and recommended a super In Focus unit that did the job. The quote and paperwork were seamless and he even told me about Genius Scan, so I could get the paperwork back to him quickly. Nice touch! I met Andrew when stopping by to make sure my laptop was completely compatible, my own worry, not theirs. He showed me the set up, let me test it myself and even provided an extra cable if we had to jump to another laptop. The screen he recommended was perfect. I was a day early but they let me complete my pick up in that one trip and saved me an additional stop, which was appreciated. On the work site, the unit worked smoothly. Had a great rental experience over the phone and in person. Sam was patient with us and our changing equipment list due to last minute production decisions. When asked, he happily threw in little extra bits and pieces to support the audio side of the production and to make sure the job went smoothly. Nothing worse than wasting lots of time and money due to one link in the chain going missing or overlooked. When finished, gave him a call and returned gear a few hours past deadline; he kindly didn't impose extra cost. I'm not a pro or in "The Biz". I just needed a couple of pieces to allow me to transfer a lot of home-recorded tracks and kid stuff from old audio cassette to CD. I had called and e-mailed around, and Action was the only company willing to support my small potatoes needs. I found Action Audio & Visual online when I was in desperate need of audio and visual equipment for an art gallery exhibit. The gallery itself had equipment available, however, when I tested it out none of it worked. I scrambled to find a speaker system and projector for the event. First off, I'd like to commend the agents at Action for being so helpful. I called in panicked when some of my equipment went out on me and I probably wasn't the easiest person to work with.
