Definitely not eating. This is not a Tokyo-style cyber café where someone can disappear for twelve hours, eat noodles, take a shower, and question every life choice that brought them there. This place said one thing very clearly: Gaming first. Everything else, figure it out in the parking lot. And honestly, I respect having a vision. The problem is that the vision seems to stop the second a customer gets hungry. They don't allow outside food or drinks, which would be understandable if they actually sold food or drinks like a real business. Instead, they have what looks like a snack display curated by a billionaire's child: tiny bags of chips for five dollars, candy for ten, and cans of soda priced like they were smuggled across a border during wartime. When you walk in, it's obvious the priority is presentation. And to be fair, the presentation is strong. The lighting, the computers, the gaming chairs, the whole setup--it looks like a place where any kid under ten would walk in and immediately think he had entered Valhalla. But once you start asking basic questions, the limitations show up fast. Can I print something? No. Can I do design work? Not really. Can I bring food? No. Can I buy real food? Also no. Can I at least get a reasonably priced drink? Apparently not unless I'm prepared to finance their next graphics card. So what you end up with is a place that looks incredible but feels weirdly impractical. It's less of a cyber café and more of a luxury gaming showroom where customers are allowed to sit down if they behave. The whole place feels like it was designed for a spoiled kid who has never heard the word "no," but somehow the business itself says "no" constantly. No outside food. No real food. No printing. No flexibility. No, you may not exist here as a normal adult with practical needs. It's a beautiful place. It's clean. It clearly knows what it wants to be. But unless all you want to do is game and pay theme-park prices for snacks, it feels less like a café and more like a very expensive waiting room for someone else's childhood dream.

I love that my brain still thinks I can whip out fouettes, when in reality, I'm far from even 50% as flexible as I once was. But finding the right studio is about getting to have fun and dance. I attended a Jazz Funk class at Play Studio and it was so fun! I appreciated that the class was a challenge. This studio is suited for people with dance experience. While there are likely people here training to dance professionally, there are also people who are just here for fun. But, I like that the classes are at a level that create a challenge and keep your brain moving as you move through the choreo. I hate a boring class and this wasn't the least bit boring at all. The class moved quickly! The vibe was good and it feels like there's a nice community here. I love the variety of options they have and I'm excited to try a pom class next. The studio is located on the second floor of the building. Parking in the area is tough. Although the studio has a parking lot, there are very few spots. There are paid spots across the street, but it's tough to find a free spot, so leave yourself some time.

Promptly seated & orders taken soon after this by Indica who also was performing & did an absolutely stellar job!! Bottomless mimosas or Bloody Mary's are served with brunch & they are refilled frequently. Jordan never let a drink get a glass go empty. Our host for this show Paris continuously kept the crowd entertained with lots of laughter! I have gone to many drag show experiences, but this was probably in the top 5 for me & I would gladly attend another one on a visit back to Sd. A few negatives are although every seat is good- the table we were at sometimes caused the show lights to hit me directly in the eye so I had to divert my attention to performances. Our meal (we both ordered carne asada breakfast) was not really seasoned. I just would try something else next time I go. Overall I had a lot of fun at Lips & it's something I would highly recommend if you're in the area! Thank you for keeping the drag experience available semi locally for me!

There's literally NO bad seat in this intimate theater. I'm not exaggerating. While the balcony seats at the downtown Civic Theatre might leave you squinting at tiny figures at premium prices, here I felt like I was practically part of the show regardless of where I sat. And at these super reasonable prices? It's almost criminal how much value you're getting. Walking into their production of "Hello, Dolly!" I was immediately struck by how the modest stage might compare to larger Broadway venues. This is a place where size absolutely doesn't matter here. The creative team masterfully used every square inch of that space, with choreography that had me wondering how they fit so much spectacular dancing into such a cozy setting. Those dancers deserve medals for their spatial awareness alone! What truly sets SDMT apart is the caliber of talent they attract. This isn't just "good for local theater"--these are performers who deliver professional-quality entertainment that had me smiling from the opening number to the final bow. The acting was so engaging that I completely forgot there wasn't a traditional orchestra. Did I miss it? Not for a second. The performers commanded the space so completely that any potential limitations simply vanished. While here are no actual curtains, it didn't detract from the experience, this adds to the intimate, immersive quality that makes this theater special. You're not just watching a show, you're part of its world from the moment you take your seat. For North County residents, this place is a revelation. The easy drive and FREE parking situation (though come early, as spaces are limited and you might need to street park) makes this infinitely more accessible than the downtown venue. No parking fees, no traffic nightmares, just straight to the entertainment. Walking out after the show, I found myself repeating "wow, wow, wow" like a happy theater mantra. I'm already excited for their next production.
