Act II sells inauthentic bags. They do not authenticate anything and pass on these bags to their customers as if they are genuine. I purchased a "Coach" bag there and later discovered that it was a fake, not a genuine Coach bag. (It was not a knock off that was purposely made to look similar, as it had "Coach" tags.) When I complained to the store, they refused to give me my money back. It is illegal to sell knockoff bags, but they do not care if they are ripping off their customers. I won't ever shop there again. Buyer beware. read more

Over the years I've been both a consignor and a shopper. If you're taking consignments in, the wait line can get long, but it moves fast. The ladies who take in consignments are always very friendly and efficient. If you're a shopper, there is a nice selection of men's, women's and children's clothing and shoes, as well as handbags. Act II is more like a second hand store than what I would call a thrift store. You can find some great buys in here if you look. Some clothing is NWT. Today they had American Eagle jeans that were NWT for $9. I also found a new A&F sweater for $4. They do have clothes for all seasons and every size. It's hit or miss depending on what they have, so stop often. read more

Unfortunately had a bad experience recently at this store with rudeness of a cashier. I went in to take clothing for consignment. I had some of my daughters ti drop off and some of my own. They explained that they were unable to take any more than 10 items period. I was hoping to take 10 of my own and 10 of my daughters going to college, putting it in her name of course. Yes the quality you get can be good (But I have found some items that weren't) and yes the prices can be somewhat good. But it does not override the rude behavior that you receive while trying to turn in clothing. I had my high end boutique clothing turn ed down because they didn't "recognize" the label but Walmart clothing was accepted. They "pride" themselves on knowing labels but clearly they do not. They act superior to you and make you feel like you're bringing them trash. When you try to use a credit card, suddenly you are a felon with stolen money and are trying to use someone else's card. They make you sign it in front of them which is pointless since they don't check it against another signature. Then snear at you as if you are low class. I avoid this place like the plague. No amount of good pricing is worth this kind of treatment. read more

Other then over pricing some named brand items, they have a huge selection of women's clothes that's very affordable. It's a great place to get good jeans under $5. They don't have very many men's clothes. They are weird about credit cards, so make sure you have cash. Half the time, don't expect good consumer service. But they are getting better. Just went thru a doctor overseen weight loss and move to healthy living. This place literally helped me through many phases of clothing sizes. I have gone from XXXL to a large. Literally through all that change I may have spent a net of $100 dollars...that is a high estimate. How???? I take clothes in, they sell, I use that money for the next sizes. Yes you have to wait for the money you make but if you are patient you can fund your transitions. They are fair, yes picky about what comes in...you want that when you are buying! If you are looking for a cheap then go to good will. I use to, but this place gives super quality. As far as comments about "rude" experiences...EVERYBODY ...has bad day on occasion...let them know personally and give them a chance to respond in person...they will. Very happy today as I went in there looking for some fleece pants for a very picky 7-year-old. Although I didn't find fleece, I walked out with two pair of sweats, three pair of jeans, and pajamas with his favorite cartoon characters all for $13. Your dollar will stretch and the quality is very good. Definitely recommend! I would have given 5 stars but the lady who rang me up lacked in customer service skills. She wouldn't allow me to use my husbands debit card and then when I paid with cash, she asked another employee how to tell if my cash was counterfeit. read more

The Hagerstown location is definitely bigger and has more of a selection than the Marion, PA location. However, with more selection you get busier waiting lines and the employees at this location are generally not very friendly. I have had mostly negative experiences with somewhat rude employees and have found that that is just the way they operate (everything is very efficient and orderly- they do not emphasize friendliness). The store is organized and has a lot to choose from- women's, men's, kids, shoes, purses & jewelry, etc. and most items are great quality, so don't be surprised if your items are rejected! Depending on who you get to go through your consigned items, they can be quite picky. I enjoy going here simply for the selection of clothing and accessories they have to offer, (which is usually great) but nothing more. read more

Although when I first heard about this place, I expected the prices to be at least a small fraction higher than our local Goodwill, I was pleasantly surprised to find that they weren't. Everything is organized by size and although I have heard that they can be a little picky with donations, it shows. None of the clothes are ratty or stained in the slightest. My boyfriend even bought a brand new pair of Converse low tops for just $20. I found three or four pairs of jeans for myself and walked away without spending $30. A good friend of mine also bought quite a few outfits for her baby for less than $20. Its also notable that this is the only consignment I have ever been to with a clearance section- just an added bonus! read more

I have been going to Act II since the 90s when I lived in the area. I usually have bought dress and casual shirts and the prices have always been reasonable. They have clothing for women (largest selection) and men. I usually don't find any pants, jeans or suits I like or that fit me, but name brand shirts are decent. I moved to PA nine years ago and I still make the 80+ mile drive to Act II one or two times a year for the good deals, because of the affordable prices. This review is for the Marion location. I have been going here for years. As a consigner and a shopper. The woman who manages this location is very rude. The girls taking the clothing continuesly take items back for her to check them. Many times they are only taking 6 items. It is not worth the drive for 6 items. Also they advertise when they take Winter and Summer items. That is not true. If you take a sundress in to consign in March they say no bring it back another month. Same goes for other items. I have had very nice things passed on only to find something worse hanging on the rack. On a positive note the girls taking the items are for the most part friendly. But they do seem to have to get permission frequently to take items. It wasn't always this way. read more

This is the best place to find clothes at a very affordable price. I wear conservative clothing (ie long skirts, long dresses, tops, etc) and I always have a lot to choose from. I also find many Laura Ashley dresses and skirts for my 2 yo daughter. The staff is extremely professional and has a lot of patience. The hours are fine, especially since you can only consign 10 items per week with them anyway, I just plan to go on Mondays every week when they are open until 7pm. read more

07/15/2016 I found my way here after postponing driving here for the last 2 years. The place and the clothes are better than I anticipated. They have a wide selection of everything, neatly arranged so no trouble finding whatever suits you. Clothes are in mint condition and they are very reasonably priced. I was with my mom and sis and we all agreed this was an ideal place to shop. They got very good quality clothing at a bargain price. Only reason am giving this one star is the treatment I got at the cashier. This little girl needs some training/ education on customer care. She had the nerve to say my credit card was fake and even went as far as asking for my DL. I was asked to sign the back of my credit card, she didn't even compare my signature on the DL and the one she made me do on the CC. I stood there and watched people check out before me and nobody was asked for ID. Guess being black automatically means am a thief. I drove over 50 miles just to be humiliated. Young girl, I know you felt like you were displaying some sass, you must have slept well last night having made me feel like something am not. Well played but I'll be damned if I ever set my foot there ever again. You have lost not only me but my entire family and all the friends that shop here. Went here the other day with my sister for the first time since we were little. I cannot believe the nerve of some of the cashiers that work here. As we waited in line there were only like 2 people in front of us and 3 other women working who were just standing around waiting for the one currently helping the other customers to wait on us. We were called up next, and the woman working looked at us and just said "hey" in a very rude tone. I believe that the woman ahead of me gave her a hard time but as a new and fresh customer, she should not have taken her anger or frustration out on me. She threw my items I was purchasing into a bag, didn't fold them or anything and when I handed her the cash to pay for them, she snatched it right out of my hand. When she handed me my change and receipt back she was rushing me out the door and shoved everything in my hand, dropping change, and didn't once apologize or tell me to have a nice day or anything.
