I'm not sure what the reason could possibly be but it may be the last time stopping here. I will have to check to see if there are any nice local thrift shops or go in to the down town area. This was my first stop on my thrift itinerary from Thurmont to Springfield VA. It's located in a…read moresmall town right off the main highway. As an experienced thrifter and reseller small towns are usually the best places to score vintage. I went in with high hopes of leaving with lots of goodies. I took my own bag but surprise, Maryland and Virginia Goodwill's do provide bags unlike Pa. Once inside I was greetly warmly by a lady probably in her mid 80's who was welcoming and rattled off the specials. This location was on the smaller size and had a room full of clothes, shoes, and a shelf of seasonal and just when I thought there was nothing else to see I discovered a room with everything else. This space felt unheated and was a little rough, like it was once a garage but it was full of housewares, electronics, linens, toys, and and small amount of furniture and bigger items. Along the walls were bags of misc and like items bundled together in bags. I've seen this done on thrifting videos but never live. Each bag was around $5 give or take depending on size. While the store was neat and organized this unheated space felt like an afterthought and wasn't as nice as the main store. Prices were alot higher than I'm used to in PA, but the quality was decent. I didn't see any damaged items. I also didn't see alot of the vintage I was expecting to find and walked out only with a goodie bag of crocheted doilys for $3.49 , taking a gamble that none were stained. Upon checking out I encountered the sweet older lady again, who was just as warm and friendly with her goodbye as she was her welcome. The world needs more people like her. SIDENOTE: I did not see a dressing room and other thrift stores in the area had theirs closed. Masks were also required.

My friend brought my kid a little mystery gift bag from this place and I've been meaning to visit for over a year. The mystery bag was probably only a couple dollars but it had actually some great vintage transformer toys. I finally got the chance on a day off to go today. It's a small shop but it is packed with really fun things. So let's start with the fact that they're adoptable cats and kittens here. As of today there are about 13 adoptable kittens and with a five dollar donation, you can sign up to sit with the kittens in the visitation room. Adorable. Also, I am very allergic to cats so I do plan to do this when I load up on Zyrtec, but today, I was only searching for vintage toys. What I managed to find today for under $20 was a transformer Batman car, Spider-Man rockets that were new in the box, a new bumblebee transformer Halloween costume, a toy chainsaw, several toy rats that I could use as an office prank, and the most adorable radio flyer wagon. I did also buy a mystery bag. Had I had more time to dig there's actually a very huge book, record and DVD collection too. This place is just fun to look around and they have some great vintage stuff and everything is so affordably priced. The staff is extremely friendly and I absolutely cannot wait to get back here again. The best part given the recent passing of Dolly Parton, this weekend they're giving a free book to kids who stop in.
