The server was patient w our English and our orders were exactly what we thought and were hoping for. The food was wonderful, but you will need to tell the Server at what times you want your food served because Europeans enjoy and eat slowly unlike a majority of us Americans. Fortunately he spoke some French, because the owner/waiter didn't speak any English. The menu was about 8-12 things written on chalkboards and the entire place had a very hole-in-the-wall feel. I got the pappardelle with mushrooms, bacon and blueberries, which was quite good and different. I wouldn't have thought to pair blueberries there and while it didn't blow me away, it was really good and different. The mozzarella with vegetables appetizer we shared was also quite yummy. The meat was tender and delicious, and the noodles were thick and delightful. The gnocchi kind of tasted a little, bland and repetitive. To be honest, I wish we could've shared like five tiny plates. Felt like I was eating way too much gnocchi and didn't get a lot of diversity. The bacon on top did help a little. The dishes were about 25 a piece, but they definitely tasted homemade. We opted for the bruschetta as a starter and I would've skipped that. The tomatoes were super fresh and the bread was good but the olive oil was playing. Don't think it was worth $10. The wine selection was brilliant. Generally pretty affordable for the quality. Some delicious wines there that night. Love love, love the aesthetic. They truly have trapped magic in a bottle. The menu isn't large but they do also have a rotating seasonal menu that accompanies it. All the dishes on the main menu are Italian classics done right. Most dishes have pork or beef. The pasta tasted very fresh and the portions were what you would want of a good Italian restaurant, plentiful. My "white" ragú was packed full of flavor and the beef was tender. The pecorino cheese used was perfect. All in all, this is the type of place that is always busy and with good reason. Since they don't take reservations lines do form at the front of both sister locations on the same block. Make the line, it moves fairly quickly. And if it doesn't it is still well worth it.
