Here's why I say all of those glowing things: This room is tall, but small in square feet. There are bookshelves that align the walls. They are covered in books that face backwards, so the pages soak in the sound. It's a noise canceling solution that was just too dang obvious for anyone else to figure out. At times, the ticket prices might be steep, but it's worth it. It means you get to see one of your favorite acts in an intimate venue with people that care. Think about it... you won't have to deal with the drunk dude at the bar talking about who knows what, while your trying to enjoy a show. so good.

Yes we have plenty of places to see rock shows and indie shows but a true listening room where music is front and center and not the whole "hey look at me I'm at this show and you're not" thing we just don't have. I'm rambling because it's hard to convey the excitement I have for this place. It's the type of room that you can go to and the artist doesn't even have to be mic'd up for it to sound amazing. From what I understand a bar area is coming and there are more renovations to be done in the space but really the aesthetics don't matter when it comes to this place. The facility straddles a ridge with amazing views of the surrounding countryside. With parking for 100+ cars and hookups for 8-10 RVs, they are well equipped for crowds. The grounds are well maintained with beautiful landscaping. The bandstand in the pavilion is an excellent spot for live music and mingling with friends. The grass area between the pavilion and shop are so inviting and a perfect place to relax in the sun while listening to music. The true star of the show is the hospitality shown by Tim. As they continue to make improvements it will just get better and better! If you're looking for the perfect spot for a wedding, corporate retreat or reunion, you'll want to consider this awesome venue. Can't wait to see what the next few years holds in store for Whiskey Hill Lynchburg!

Several good food options - all very expensive - but that seems to be the nature of most concert venues. In the Amphitheater courtyard there are several food trucks. I got a relatively small quesadilla from the Fire & Spice food truck for ~$20. There are also more food and alcohol options at the numerous counters built into the venue. You're allowed to bring an empty reusable water bottle to fill at a water station once you enter the venue. Or if you purchase water (~$5) it comes in a reusable cup that you return before you leave. The bathrooms were clean and the staff directing people to their seating were nice. Parking seems to vary by popularity of the artist. With Lana Del Rey, we got there about ~1 hour before the show start and we were directed to park at an office building past the Amphitheater parking lot (~5 minute walk to venue gates). For Lord Huron, we got there ~45 minutes before the show start and we were able to park halfway up the main parking lot (~2 minute walk to venue gates).

The schnitzel bites were fabulous. I would get those again for sure. There were a few guys walking around playing Christmas music and some guys hopping around on stilts. It was very festive! Lots of German beer to try. They also have wine. There are cold and hot drinks. Another surprise were the rides that were added. They have a Ferris wheel, a merry go round, kiddie swings, and an ice skating rink! If you haven't been, go!
