I was skeptical as a first time customer. They did not have good reviews online. However, there was a beautiful jacket in the catalog that someone in my family really wanted. We called the catalog but the customer service team wasn't very knowledgable. I think the customer representatives work for various catalogs and don't have much knowledge of the product merchandise for any of them. This really frustrates me when catalogs do this as I can read the details of the item and make my purchases online by myself. When I call up customer service, I really would like to talk to someone who has knowledge about the products that cannot be found online. We waited as we weren't sure about ordering from here and also didn't want to pay for shipping if we were unsure about the product. Acorn bases their shipping charges on the price of the item and they don't offer free shipping no matter how much you buy. I knew that the price of shipping this jacket was way more than it would actually cost to ship a lightweight item and that did not sit well with me. However, we did eventually see a promotion for free shipping so we decided to give the catalog a try, just once, because we were so in love with the item. The timeline for the delivery of the item was quick. When we opened the package I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the jacket. It was a really, really nice piece. The material was so soft and silky. The construction and workmanship was excellent. It fit true to size and was absolutely perfect in every way. My family member was very pleased as it was exactly what they had been looking for. We only had one experience with this company so far and we didn't have any issues with the order and didn't have to deal with customers service or returns. I also didn't place the order during the winter holiday season so I can't comment on what that may have been like. However, the quality of the merchandise exceeded my expectations. It ended up being worth the gamble. Beware, this is a scam operation. They have a slick catalog that looks like it might be connected to PBS, but it is not. I tried ordering online and stupidly gave my email to get a discount, then allowed texts on specials for another discount and got neither. So before I submitted it, I tried calling on the phone. The first number from online isn't connected, and the number on the catalog connected me to a scammer trying to get more information from me for a 100 dollar coupon to something else. WORST company to deal with. I ordered a t-shirt in November of 2023. Apparently, they KEEP your credit card information and then use it to make reoccurring charges to your credit card. They charge it is to as a "VIP Insider." I never joined this or authorized these charges. I have been calling and have been hung up on 5 times today. I've gone online and haven't had a response. They are a SCAM and have very fraudulent business practices. I would NOT recommend buying anything from ACORN or ACORN Online. read more

I contacted Acorn via their chats to ask 2 simple questions about the hat. One was whether the bow on it could be easily removed. The other was whether the "ribbon" band itself could be easily tied. I was told both were true. After the order was placed, there was a notice that I was entitled to a shipping charge refund. Maybe because this was the first time ordering from them? Anyway, there then appeared to be many hoops to go through to get the refund. Finally I got a message that it would be handled after the next regular time they'd do that? (Had to do with paid membership, I think!) So I've gotten no refund and don't expect one. NOW, the hat arrived and though the so-called "bow" can be pulled out of its holder, the hatband itself would only be able to be removed by removing all the stitches holding it in place AND the stitches holding the strap that holds the "bow" in place. read more

I ordered from acorn they double charged my account saying it was a pre authorization charge thst drops in a few days well it double charged me and wiped out my bank account . when I order items online you order it you get charged one time not this pre auth lie. do not use this company they took all my money and left my account in the negative I had to shut it down for fraud read more

I placed an order online to be shipped to another state as a gift for my son. After I placed the order, it came back with my address as the shipping address. I immediately called the customer service number listed which ended in 68. After explaining the problem, I was told to call another number which was the same except for the last 2 numbers which were 66. I called the number and explained the problem and was told they could change the shipping address but since it wasn't in the system yet, I would have to call back in an hour and they would correct the problem. When I called back an hour later, I was told it was too late and the item was already done and being shipped. When I told the representative what the previous representative had said, they then blamed Paypal saying they had to ship it to me because I paid with Paypal which I know is not true! This company is horrible...instead of any help, all I received were excuses. Now I am told to send the item back when I receive it but the return postage will be deducted from my refund! Please save yourself a lot of heartache and avoid doing business with this company at all costs! I also checked the reviews on Acorn's website and they look bogus. Many are written by the same name several times such as Gary. He wrote three separate one line reviews about a dvd on 12/13/22 or Betty who wrote three two line reviews about her sweater on 12/13/22. My opinion is that Acornonline.com is a scam on old people. For example, they sell DVDs which most people don't use anymore. They sell stupid sayings on t-shirts and sweatshirts made of poor quality. They sold a sweatshirt to an older family member where you personalize it with a "verb" like teach or read. They sold her a defective product and then put in a proper noun which made the saying nonsensical. They should have assisted the order. They did not. They would not. They will not refund. Two hours on hold. They just hang up. This is a scam. It's a money trap. No customer service; just lip service. NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM Acornonline.com. They are based in Ohio. HORRIBLE. Save yourself and your elderly. THROW THEIR SALE BOOKLETS IN THE TRASH. THEY ROB OLD PEOPLE. IT IS A GAME TO THEM. They send sale booklets to old people in the mail and try to sucker old people who don't use computers. RUN FAR AWAY. It's simple. I ordered a shirt on November 30. Two weeks later, I called to find out when this (Christmas gift) would arrive. The chat operator said this item was back ordered, and would not arrive before Christmas, although the website indicated I could expect it in time when I placed the order. Complaint about Acorn, and their inept if not unscrupulous service. (Jan 21st) I ordered 7 items from Acorn. Only 5 were correctly handled and delivered. one item I was told was out of stock and they did not know when it would be in. THAT SAME DAY I FOUND ANOTHER COMPANY THAT HAD THE BOOK IN STOCK AND RECEIVED IT THE FOLLOWING DAY. I called Acorn and told them to immediately cancel that book and refund the price of the book from my PAID order. (which they still have not done) Fyi - it turns out it was another 2-1/2 weeks for that book to arrive at Acorn. I thought this matter was settled as I gave them ample time to cancel this part of my order. But, NOOOOOO they kept sending me postal packages of the book which I immediately returned to sender without opening and called my CC company to avoid this charge. They also kept sending me ads of different sale items which I called them and told them to stop, but emails continue to this day. Then there was the 3 pairs of socks from my original PAID order, that were the wrong size. I complained to Acorn and they told me to return them following a very convoluted system. I decided to keep them and use them as gifts, since I already PAID for them. But Acorn was not through with me. They sent me the SAME WRONG SIZE SOCKS AND ARE TRYING TO BILL ME EVEN THOUGH I NEVER AUTHORIZED THIS PARTICULAR ORDER. Acorn is by far the worst mail order company I have ever experienced. I will never order anything from them again, and I intend to follow up on this complaint with other complaints to consumer affairs. read more

Put in my Christmas order a couple weeks ago, and was assured it would arrive before Christmas (because otherwise, why bother). On Monday 12/18, having heard nothing at all, I called customer service and was assured my order would go out that very day and I would have my items before Christmas. On Thursday, still no email and no way to track the order, so I chatted with customer service and expressed my frustration. Customer service said she would "try" to get the order out and said it would be overnighted. I tried to pin her down on the use of the word "try" and told her I wasn't reassured, and she terminated the chat! Today, Friday, I chatted with the same person to see why there was no email confirmation of the overnight shipping; she said the notice had gone to the warehouse and that's all she could do. I said someone in the warehouse must be able to tell us what's going on. In the end, she admitted that I would not have my order for Christmas. I will not be ordering from this company again.
