There is a bar and strip club right opposite the hotel and that makes for a somewhat unsavory experience. My wife reported waking up on at least one of the two nights because of people leaving the bar noisily in the middle of the night. One can also tell that this is not a great area by the number of panhandlers (beggars), the "shady" businesses (think pawn shops in the U.S.), and the lack of nice sit-down restaurants in close proximity of the hotel. 2. The hotel is also quite old and its age shows in many things including the quality of floors in the lobby and the breakfast area which look completely beaten down. The elevator is also quite slow and we were surprised by how tiny it was. 3. Although they claimed to have free wi-fi, the wi-fi was slow and unreliable. The hotel does have some positives too. 1. It is very close to the main train station - Hauptbahnhof. If you leave through the correct exit, it will literally take you less than 2 minutes to get to the hotel. 2. The staff was generally quite helpful. We particularly liked the fact that they let us check in at around 10:30 a.m. when our flight from the U.S. landed. That enabled us to sleep for a few hours before going out and touring the city. For that accommodation, we are quite grateful.

When I was in Germany on a business trip, I asked my coworker to take us out to dinner in a good…read moretraditional German restaurant. It seems that the city we were in was a small town and there weren't a lot of dinning options, unless we drive into the city (Munich). I was pretty tired with jet lag, so instead of a 45 minute drive, he suggested we come here instead. The restaurant is actually located inside a hotel. From the looks of it, it seemed like a pretty pricey joint. As we proceeded inside the restaurant, I noticed that most of the restaurant patrons were..shall we say elderly? They were dressed up real nice which made me feel kind of out of place since I was only wearing a t-shirt. The decoration seem nice and elegant, which explains the ages of the guest. But its nice to be dinning in a place like this once a while. The menus were in both German and English, however, I still have no idea which ones would be considered a traditional German dish. So I had to ask my coworker and he suggested I get the Spanferkel, or Suckling Pig. It sounded delicious and I was so glad I went with it. The dish had crispy skin on the outside, and inside the pork was cooked very nicely. It was juicy with a lot of flavors. And the sauce served with the dish was rich and yummy. As for the drinking choice for the evening, I had to go with ordering a beers while I am in Germany. The waiter suggested I go with their house brew beer Brau Weisse. As it turns out, the entire establishment is a family owned business. The same family who owns the hotel, also owns this restaurant and the beer brewery located on the same property. And the waiter said they paid a lot of attention to their business. They are constantly on the property managing their business. Sure enough, moments later a woman walked by our table, asked us about how's everything so far with a big smile. Even though I felt like I was dinning in some German grandparents dinning room, the food and service was excellent. The dishes we order might be a bit expensive by me, but i had a great time and enjoyed my dinner and beer a lot. And I was very glad to be able to experience some German culture.

There is about 15-20 rooms here I think located on one floor. The rooms are pretty small and the big bed takes away most of the open space in the room. You have to squeez things in and space is at a premium. The curtains are not the best and it gets bright early. The rooms back onto a long balcony with a nice view. The room has most amenities and the bathroom was tiny. The shower was also very small and it just felt cramped overall. It was ok for one night but I would recommend a bigger room for a longer stay. Breakfast here is very nice with homemade muesli, nice bread and organic spreads. They make you nice coffee and I loved the breakfast. A nice hotel in countryside Bavaria.

One of the big advantages for me was having free wireless in the room, which had an adequately strong signal. There is also an ALDI and a McDonald's cross the street for those looking for cheap drinking and eating options. During our 1 night stay, we had dinner and breakfast buffet the next morning. For dinner, everything was already arranged ahead of time by the tour. So, everybody had pork knuckle entrée with potato and coleslaw sides. Personally, I didn't enjoy eating the pork knuckle because it was difficult to cut the meat and it wasn't tender (it wasn't fall of the bone type of meat). It was a huge portion of meat that I had to share some with my dad since I couldn't finish it. For the breakfast buffet, it was great. This was probably the best breakfast buffet from my entire Europe trip! There were the typical bread rolls, deli meats, cereal, yogurt, coffee, and juices. I remember that there were a few selections of teas and a few different types of German sausages. I remember the white mini chicken/turkey sausages were the best! :) Nice experience at this hotel.
