I have never shopped here so I can't comment on that experience. Today was the first time I've ever been in this store. I'd made 2 appointments online for the Acme pharmacy and went here today with my grandmother so we could both get our COVID Pfizer boosters. My grand was in a hurry to get to the pharmacy, worried about not being on time, even though we were 45 minutes early. She was racing on ahead of me and from previous experience, I knew to just let her do her thing. She doesn't see well so I do worry about her when we are out, but I know not to fuss lest she get temperamental. She approached a man restocking shelves to ask where the pharmacy was. He made a point to stop what he was doing, elaborately roll his eyes, then he mumbled and pointed. I mentally flipped him off, took her arm to slow her down and led her to where we needed to go. There is no signage indicating where one needs to check in/wait, so I thought the best thing to do was to wait in the 'Pick Up' line. There are a few chairs in that area, so I got my grand seated and asked her to hold our paperwork. There was one pharmacist filling orders and a young lady working the Pick Up line. I don't know if she was a pharm tech or a pharmacist as well. One person was being helped by her and another person was ahead of me. All told, I don't think I waited more than 7 minutes in the small line before it was my turn. The woman who helped me was very polite and soft spoken. I gave her our paperwork which I'd filled out online when I made our appointments and copies of our vaccination cards. She asked for I.D. and insurance cards and then apologetically asked me to 'please wait a bit.' I said no need to worry; I was aware that we were very early. She said it was fine, we would be in and out in no time and asked me to be seated. While we waited, a family of 3 checked in at the Pick Up counter and the matriarch started a conversation with me and my grandmother. About 5 minutes later, the tech told us she was ready for us and ushered us to a small secluded area to administer our boosters. Everything was very clean though she was not gloved. I wasn't going to worry about that but it seemed a bit odd, considering the fact that she was wearing an N95 mask. We were both vaccinated in less than 2 minutes. The woman was very gentle and particularly solicitous of my elderly relative. She gave us our vax cards back and handed us both a 10% off coupon for any other shot-flu, shingles and so on-and said very seriously that she had time to talk to us if we had any questions or concerns about COVID or the vaccine. I declined. My arm started to hurt like it had been ripped at then bitten nearly in half by a raging T. Rex immediately after the shot, so I simply wanted to get the Hell out, get ice on it and get something potable and high proof down my gullet. My Nan wanted to 'take a peek' around the store so I bit my tongue and obliged. I get my groceries delivered so this little market tour was eye opening. The shelves in many aisles, like the pet food section, were nearly bare. Supply chain issues. Funny enough, the vast frozen aisle seemed very well stocked. Nevertheless, the store was clean and masked clerks were stocking shelves and rearranging merchandise. It did not seem busy for a Friday, but then I am more used to going to Trader Joe's or MOM's during 'off' hours than to a regular chain grocer like Acme to Giant, so what do I know? Bottom line-if a second booster is in the future, i wouldn't hesitate to come here again. The whole process was easy, quick and efficient. We were treated with care, concern and respect. I finally feel better and more confident being out and about, knowing that Nan and I have been boostered. read more

been ordering pick-up orders from this acme for about a year if not longer. the past 6+ months has been a nightmare trying to get a pickup order. From food being rotten and incorrect, to them delaying and canceling the past about 5 orders we have placed. I understand that it can be/get busy but if your employees can't keep up with the orders or pick food that isn't rotten maybe you should relook at how things are going or consider putting a cap on how many orders can be placed in a timeframe. Super disappointing as we have shopped at this acme my whole life and no other grocery store in the area. From now on I will be taking myself 10 minutes down the road to ShopRite or giant and suggest you do the same! read more

I love this ACME location, they always have what I need. The employees are always respectful and they actually walk me to the location of the things I can't find and ask them for help. Checkout is always a breeze. I love their freshly baked breads. The meats section has a large choice of cuts. This is the place to go if you want a respectful team to help out and have everything you're looking for. read more

Three ACME locations in Northeast Philly are using some form of AI‑based facial recognition. If you see guards posted up and they're acting intimidating or watching people closely, that's usually a sign something is going on. I'm not sure about the Roxborough ACME yet, but just giving everyone a heads‑up. read more

Sad ass Acme with a shit ass parking lot. The "fresh" fruit and veggie section is not good here. This last time I went was the worst. I dug through a bin of yellow onions and not one was good. Every one had some brown squishy spots. Peppers all looked like they were starting to wrinkle. Those at least had a few that were purchasable. I flip back and forth between this one and the other 2 star Acme. Grocery stores in this area generally suck. read more

Acme or should I say Albertson get CEO that can handle the job ?, why do you think we talked to the FTC about the merger and NOT to aprove that joke of a merger. Albertson and there private equity companies have done nothing yes nothing but raise and raise prices so your private equity people can get extremely large none earned pay .The best thing that could help this company is to get ALL of the TOP Executives out and put in people with a BRAIN , buying those stores in Connecticut, new york from A&P and Pathmark was a BIG blunder . You should stop your multiple sales tactics like pickup & Delivery, Giant , Aldi's , Wegmans and Walmart are out doing you in sales and customer approval . Keep up the great job the competition just LOVES you. read more

Check expiration dates. I don't know how many times I look at an expectation dates and it is days or weeks out.

To Brian at the Acme on Baltimore Pike and 252. Thanks for putting your phone down when I arrived at the Beer/Wine checkout. A "hello", "how are you", and "thank you" would've been nice. Thanks for your incredible customer service read more

Nice local market, clean and organized. Kind of small however they had everything you will need from the market.

Have to say that the specials really are not specials. I'll be driving just a few minutes more to save more $ at places like Aldi! i have had enough of price gauging and will be going elsewhere . Peppers on sale for 1.29 each from 1.99 each - REALLY‍ Large markets have got to lower prices NOW - I am so tired and poorer due to large companies making their $$$ and the rest of the population paying more $$$. Very concerned consumer read more

customer service has always been horrible, but even more now that they don't seem to have their registers up-to-date with their weekly ads it's so aggravating to shop there read more

very disappointing ... live in this town 39 years. every jewish holiday they have, if any , old, past dated inappropriate items Passover foods at Chanukkah.. Chanukkah candles at Christmas instead of in time for Chanukkah.. my son went in for a Bar Mitzvah card this week and they never heard of them Its absolutely shameful, in this community, that we cannot shop in our local store i am at the point where i try not to have to shop there and give them my money hoping this changes. never too late respectfully 1 star only because could not post without read more

I posted my original review in frustration; it was short and mean: "I love Roxborough, but there are no good grocery stores here. Acme is an embarrassment. Management knows / cares nothing about food. I leave here hungry and frustrated every time." A manager named Dawn commented on Yelp asking for clarification, so here goes. My biggest frustration is with the butcher section, where the quality of the meat is almost uniformly terrible. They carry "select" and only occasional "choice" grades, most of which is completely devoid of any marbling. All of it looks wet-aged in cryo-vac, which gives pallid flavor (but is standard for all but the best supermarkets). The quality grades are pretty broad; meat at the top end of choice can actually be pretty good. But I never see that. I rarely see anything with discernible marbling. The lamb all seems to be from New Zealand or Australia, which is cheaper but raises sustainability questions that I don't have time to get into. I once asked an Acme butcher about Pennsylvania lamb, and he told me they don't raise lamb here. Well ... some of the best lamb farms in the country are in Pennsylvania. Many of the best chefs in New York and the Bay Area specifically source lamb from here. I'd expect a professional butcher to at least know what's in his own back yard, but like many supermarkets, Acme does not seem to employ real butchers. The poultry is the saddest section. It's mostly Purdue, which I will not buy unless I'm starving to death. Purdue is basically the poster child of everything wrong in the worst corners of the agriculture industry. The worst chicken breeds, bred purely for fast yield and cheap feeding; the worst feed; the worst, most inhumane conditions for the birds; the worst, most inhumane conditions for the workers. It's a disgusting product. I understand Acme is just a supermarket, and probably doesn't currently have customers for heritage breed birds, but there are compromises. Brands like Murray's and D'artagnan offer similar breeds but feed them and raise them better. They taste much better, and you can sleep at night knowing you didn't support a poultry concentration camp. A step up would be a brand like Bo Bo (which has farms in PA), that raises a more flavorful breed for just a couple $ more per lb. The fish is a horror show, but no supermarket anywhere has fresh fish. Credit where credit is due: everyone I've talked to on the staff is friendly. The beer selection is pretty epic. read more

My local Acme! Acme, the corporation, has been sold over and over. I believe it is on owner number three or four in recent years. I feel this site has done quite a bit to improve their image. While I wouldn't say the place was dirty before, I feel it has really stepped up in this area recently. The place is just brighter! Selection is solid. Prices are a bit high for non-sale items, however, sales and their MyMixx program really make a difference. I trust the quality of the meats (I'm a big fan of Acme's Lancaster brand). The staff is friendly. I interact with them weekly to find the (usually free) MyMixx item of the week. I regularly use the self-check out lane and typically don't need to wait long to get a register. While there may not be a lot of other options for me locally, there are other options. Yet, I still head to this Acme often! read more

ACME Markets - Grocery Near Me - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

It's probably a 4 star but I'll give it 5 because everyone is hating on a grocery store. I go there, find what I'm looking for and get out. It's a corporate retail setting and the store can actually only control so much..."long line" mostly due to payroll issues (can't fix that), "assortment or aisle set up" also corporates fault. Also the customer is wrong about 95% of the time. This isn't 1990, and your "I spend a lot of money here" bs (which you don't) really doesn't mean anything for the energy that all grocery workers have to put in to shutting you guys up because the guest before you put something in the wrong spot after looking at it and now you demand that they give it to you for that price read more

i ordered a grocery delivery on 8/2/24 and $136 was taken out of my account 8/3/24. my groceries were never received and i let acme on ridge ave know immediately on 8/2/24. i have been going back and forth every since to get my money refunded. not my fault that the person delivered to the incorrect address. i even sent a picture of my front because they picture the delivery person left the groceries on was not my porch. i was told my money woudl be refunded within 5-7 business days from 8/4/24, it is now 8/14/24 and its day 8. i keep getting the run around to get my money refunded. not my fault that the dumb delivery person delivered to the incorrect address. i even have emails that the refund was approved. it took you 1 day to withdraw the money from my account but its taking you over 8 days to refund me. this is ridiculous. i could have had a check mailed to me all of this time. I HAVE BEEN GOING BACK AND FORTH WITH THESE PEOPLE FOR 2 WEEKS. I WAS TOLD MY REFUND WAS ON THE WAY, EVEN RECEIVED EMAILS STATIN THAT. Products: 6/10 Service: 7/10 Decor: 7/10 Value: 5/10 Overall: 6 out of 10 After about an hour of half heartedly studying for an engineering cert I decided my disinterest was likely caused my hunger. I peered through the blinds to take a gander at the parking situation. A few spaces remained after more adventurous (or less irritable) neighbors had gone out to lead the charge. I decided to take a quick trip to the Dunkin for my specialty drink (see my various Dunkin reviews) and to save a couple bucks (literally) on something to nibble on at ACME. In retrospect, I should not have been surprised at the almost empty ACME parking lot. Considering that ACME is well known in the couponing community for not being very high on the 'cost effective totem' I think people are willing to go a few minutes out for ShopRite, also on Ridge. As per usual the threat of parking further than the front door made me apprehensive and I wasnt planning to get much. This place is a bit, disorienting, if you've ever been to another grocery store. The lines drawn in the lot are at such a deep angle that pulling in is difficult from other than the very front (nearest the building) of the lot. The entryways are seemingly misplaced. The main entrance is in the far corner, the "other" entrance is more centrally situated but has steps, a door that swing outward, and enters through the bar (a sit-down wine and spirits area). The sliding doors at the Main entrance are "backwards" - you enter on the left, exit on the right. Once inside it gets better. The produce area is well cared for, same can be said generally for the meat and bakery areas. The aisles seem much more narrow than other grocery stores and I can recall any visits where multiple aisles werent obstructed in full or in part by large pallets of stock waiting to be ...stocked. I bought some oranges here that ended up being completely seedless (GMO, gross!) and one, just one, deteriorated into that green dust after only a few days. It was still in the unopened orange fishnets. Today, instead of paying $1.79 for a toasted blueberry muffin with butter at the Dunkin, I opted to buy a 4-ct at ACME. They were on display for $5 ($1.25 each) for a whopping savings of just over $2. I can't say it wasnt totally worth it since I got other shopping done *shrug* I have had good interactions with the employees here. This is important because I can only imagine how much it must suck to work in this kind of retail space and maintaining a disposition above apathy is high science. A manager took time out to explain the pricing system (read: lack of store discount cards) and how to understand the deals laid out in the weekly circular. On another occasion a lady working in the freezer aisle made light hearted conversation about how messy the store was the day after a holiday. This brings me to the cashier situation. As another Yelper mentioned, "I'm trying to look at my purchases as they ring up, not work a part time job at Acme." There are more self-check stations then lanes. Perhaps thats typical, but given the size of this store, experienced check out persons would alleviate their overcrowding issue. The station pauses and waits for help at every turn; chilled items with frosted over barcodes, the weight of a small item doesnt register as "in the bag," the pin pad shows my payment approved but no receipt prints. The supervising clerk is rarely ever immediately free since there does not appear to be "a station" for them to observe like I've seen at other groceries. So you wait. They assist and you try your best to move quickly as a line has most certainly formed behind you. Simply put, I dont love it and if not for it being so close to where I spend most of my time, I wouldnt even consider this place. I cant even recommend it in good conscience (maybe for Cheap Chicken Mondays, but thats hit or miss). read more

Every time I shop an acme the prices are much higher than all stores in my area. on top of that I clip their coupons and it never comes off my bill. I called corporate and they said they fixed my account. did not work just shopped today same thing had to point out to cashier and she fixed it. Worst company I worked them 50 years ago thr college philosophy still has not changed all about the company. moving to digital coupons has given them more money. By and large customers do not check to see if coupons were applie. onl reason i shop there is it is close to home and shop only sale items read more

Now that we live closer to an Acme, we'll probably be visiting on a more regular basis for their sales and their fried chicken! I stopped in recently to pick up some fried and grilled chicken for dinner. The staff member behind the counter was glad I wanted a mix of grilled and fried because I wanted the dark meat special deal, and there wasn't enough fried to fill the order. It turns out that there wasn't enough to go half and half either, so she threw in a few more pieces of grilled chicken, which I was appreciative of. After bringing the chicken home, I enjoyed all the pieces that I ate, both grilled and fried. The grilled chicken had some good flavor in the seasoning, and the fried chicken wasn't too salty, which had been my observation in times I've eaten Acme fried chicken before. read more

Generally this Acme is ok. The staff are lovely. My frustration is with the stupid way you have to buy beer at that tiny little back counter. You know people are gonna show up with at least 12 items ...give 'em some space. My biggest gripe though is that they have to scan my ID to purchase alcohol. First of all I don't believe that info is not kept somewhere and I showed up without my ID (in BF's wallet) and I couldn't purchase. I am 51 years old for gods sake! I know I look good but damn. The aisles are generally empty of the things you want such as iced tea in the summer. as everyone has said acme has the highest prices in comparison to other supermarket chains. it's out of convenience i'm forced to shop there. now that wegmens is up rt 48, i'm going to change my shopping habits. last minute one off items i 'll go down the street to acme. other wise i'm done being ripped off. one weekend i noticed every baked goods item was raised to the same price. every week their prices go up on everything. this is not employee programs/benefits/pay costs that's b's this is acme taking profit on our backs using inflation as their excuse. and one more issue beware of produce deals 2 for one buy one get on free, their fruit molds before you get it home. their cut fruit taste like their are chemical additives in it, my guess is to preserve it because it has to go on sale because it was overpriced to begin with it. shame on you acme 3 cookies for $6 shame shame shame read more

Hey guys if I come to customer service and say I need a replacement savings card just give it to me. Don't give me a pamphlet about an app on a website. Enough with the apps already. Or at least tell me all I have to do is give the cashier my phone number and it'll be in the system. I'm not hip enough to know about that in advance. This location is so trashy!!! The employees are always smoking cigarettes and loudly swearing by the entrance of the store. My boyfriend and I bought a house in East Falls. He's been here his entire life. I'm from the Northeast and until recently, I would drive up to the NE to do our shopping, but it's gotten ridiculous so to Ridge Ave I went. I went at 1 pm thinking that since the Eagles game started then it wouldn't be as crowded. WRONG!! Me and the car in front of me almost died because some jackass in an Audi SUV was going super fast around the parking lot. Next, why is everything so much more expensive down here? Gas is easily 20-30 cents more a gallon and I swear I spend $10-20 more than I have in the NE. So, my boyfriend has what I thought was a rude habit of leaving his cart wherever he wants and walking around the store. Today I found out that it's not just him but 90% of the people who shop here. The reason why everyone leaves their carts all over the place- because only one person at a time can walk down every aisle! The aisles are so small! If someone is stocking shelves you're screwed! Who approved the layout for this store? Aside from all of this, the employees are top notch and always have a smile on their faces and are always willing to help! read more

Yeah baby.... uh-huh! Roxborough Acme... Rockin' 2 1/2 stars. I aim to bring that number up! Went in there yesterday... My wife drove, because I hit them Pax Vape device a little too hard with some old school sativa. I am a senior citizen... But I like to operate at grocery stores when I am slightly buzzed. And went in there for one thing. Roxborough ACME served it up right. I bought three organic ribeye steaks. My wife and I worked hard in the garden. You're probably not interested in that and I get that. Nevertheless it was pretty bad ass to be able to buy quality beef which I rarely eat but it fortifies me greatly. I also bought sour cream for the mashed potatoes. I have a 30 year history with this ACME. I'm sure next time I go it will disappoint me, but in the meantime I appreciate what they are trying to do.
