I usually shop at Giant but today I was right near the Acme and it was not crowded (around 12:15pm on a Monday) so I gave it a shot. The fried chicken deal on Mondays is still available and the nice man at the Deli, Thomas, filled my order right away - no line at all. ZERO stars should be an option. This store is a MESS. Extremely dirty, mold in cases, aisles blocked and jammed with stuff. A lot of employees that stand around and ignore customers. Prices are insane. the Management of this store is about as qualified as a kindergartener. Not to mention i've met the District Manager of this location before and she was extremely RUDE. She shouldn't be in charge of a Lemonade stand, let alone an entire district of stores. Spend your money somewhere better. read more

Acme is 4 minutes from my house and I have nothing good to say about this store. Produce dept. is too small, lacks variety, outrageously priced, and produce is often moldy. Shelves are often poorly stocked. Employees seem miserable. I've complained repeatedly how the store is extremely cold. it is early Spring and I always regret not bringing a winter coat, hat and gloves. I've complained to staff. They only say yes they agree and they proceed to tell me how many layers of clothes they're wearing. I only go there now for the pharmacy, but plan on changing that as well so I no longer will have to enter this awful store. I can only hope with the arrival of Simply Fresh next year, Acme will be put out of business. read more

This acme is probably the last of a quality grocery store - what I mean by that is variety. The amount of things I can find in this store that none of the other stores around me have is phenomenal. We have tons of grocery stores around us but if you need a unique item or an item you've been buying for years and suddenly cannot find - I bet you'll find it here. They have a lot of staff and everyone is so nice! They also have a great rewards program via the app. I wish I lived closer because I would frequent this store much more. I gave this store another try, but it was even worse than my first review. There was one person at checkout with people in line, so I went to self check. The scanner screens were all dirty, I used a wipe to clean mine. The check out process stopped near the end and there was no one on staff to help. Finally I found someone and he worked on it. Acme needs address all of these things if they want customers. read more

Their self-checkout is the worst in town - an alley of screaming computers bombarding you from all sides. It's a nightmare for anyone with autism, PTSD, or sound sensitivity. Unlike every other grocery store in town, they refuse to turn on the function that allows a shopper the ability to lower the volume or mute it. I don't need everyone around me to know what I'm purchasing or getting cash - a big safety issue. And the obnoxious, triggering loud sounds coming from all directions when trying to check out makes me actively avoid the store. Most recently, they've gotten rid of all the smaller carts. These carts were perfect when you only need a few items or are a single shopper, especially if you're older or disabled and can't carry a basket. The big ones are difficult to control if you're physically limited. Once again, when numerous shoppers pointed this out to customer care, they shrugged. Where is the care for their older or disabled shoppers? They are within walking distance of an assisted living center. read more

Stood by the bakery counter waiting for help for about 15 minutes. The employee working back there completely ignored me and the other man waiting, making sporadic eye contact, then just looking away. If you're short-staffed, I get it. But at least have the common courtesy to let us know there's no one working the counter at the moment so we're not standing there like idiots. read more

I'm not sure if the pandemic is limiting this Acme location's ability to stock it's shelves properly or if it is just a general decline in both selection and quality, but I continue to be disappointed in this local grocery. Limited selection, produce that is clearly not in its prime, long lines and a general feeling that the best days are long behind this location are in abundant evidence. While their prices are higher, I am now taking my business to Wegman's in Warrington or Simply Fresh in downtown Doylestown for better quality, less waiting, more selection and healthier grocery options. read more

I have been going to this store since it opened I will now reconsider due to treatment I recieved. I asked about pricing on soda at register compared to labels in store told one soda was not included than why label everything in a row mix and match than I was told I needed a coupon never had to use before when I entered phone number price adjusted. Then the flyer was waved at and pointed in I don't look at flyers I go to store and look at prices. At the end response from employee was well all the stores do it. Not quite sure why the supermarket has such low ratings. I don't often get up to Pennsylvania and when I do I'm not usually shopping for groceries, but this place is convenient for me. I do agree with reviewers who say the parking lot is crazy - very crowded; lots of traffic and stop signs everywhere. Inside the store is clean and bright but the aisles are a bit narrow. They are also one way and well marked. I didn't get a chance to compare prices to my usual supermarkets in Maryland but it didn't seem outrageous. Just stopped in to Grab a few things and swap out my empty 5gal water bottles. I know from experience at this locations the water outlet station does not produce tickets. So I held onto my empties to show the sweet new cashier that I needed to exchange 3 empties for 3 fulls and get the discount. Poor cashier didn't know how to do it and had to ask "Joe" at customer service. He proceeds to get annoyed and act ignorant. I expressed my sympathy to the cashier for getting her involved and went to talk with "Joe" who proceeded to talk crazy. I went to the station dropped the empties and no tickets were exchanged. I was being patient with the cashier but this guy "Joe" is a problem he is not customer oriented. He needs to watch how he talks to customers. I have 4 options in the doylestown area to shop at. Choose Acme because I know the store from growing up in Pa. I'm not going to say I was silent but "Joe" is not who you want in the front of the store. Ownership should know this. I like this store. I've been shopping here for decades, and I like its familiarity and the availability of everything from baking supplies to batteries to deli meats and cheeses to frozen foods, canned goods and dairy products. The sales are great. I typically save $30-40 on a shopping trip if I pay attention to sale items. It's an old store, but it is periodically updated. Nice employees, too. read more

I like the smackme. it's higher priced than the other grocery chains in the area. the people on the front end have been there a long time and are very nice. it's the closest within walking distance and open 24/7 so it's easy to frequent. they have a decent health and gluten free section, including some frozen cases. the parking lot is a zoo. the walk from the store to the car is tricky sometimes as there is no buffer between the store and the lot. consequently stepping out into traffic is quite common, even though there are stop signs throughout. read more

I have shopped here for many years, but won't be returning, at least for awhile. After searching for an item for 20 minutes, I asked about it at customer service, where I was told that she didn't know what or where the item was. I described it again in detail and told her what it was called. She still said that she had never heard of it and didn't know where it was. Another Acme employee from the floor came to the rescue, walked me to the aisle, and there it was. Thank you, ma'm!! By the way, I very rarely write reviews unless I give them five stars! Friday, Jan. 2, 2019 tried to purchase 5 packages of Oreos that were on sale using "Just 4 U". "Just 4 U" did not have the Oreos listed so I told the cashier, who became very agitated and sent me to the Service Desk. Robin was the customer service rep, who also was agitated and very rude. The incorrect price also came up for the Tastykakes that were on sale. Per Acme's policy, I was supposed to get a free item if they ring up the wrong price. Robin refused to give me the free item and grabbed all my groceries and I then left without purchasing anything. Called the manager that same day to complain. I left a message for him but he never returned my call. They really need to work on their computer system as well as their customer service. read more

My mother shopped at Acme and her mother shopped at Acme. I want to shop at Acme, but I can not continue to throw away our hard earned money. We have been shopping at this particular Acme for about 3 years now since we moved to Doylestown. We have always been very happy, until about 2 months ago. Something changed. The department heads are not doing their job. We live about 20 minutes away in Solebury. The last 5 times we have gotten home from Acme, we have had to throw out either a packaged vegetable because it had mold and was rotting or a meat item that was too slimy to put in the refrigerator. Of course, we make the phone call and the girl says "oh I'm so sorry, just bring it back and we will replace it. REALLY? So.... you want me to either 1. stop my plans for the evening so we can drive 40 minutes round trip to return a $20 meat item? Does that make sense to anyone? So she says"just throw it in your refrigerator and bring it back next time you are in town.... REALLY? ..... you want me to put a nasty item in my fridge for a few days, then bring it back to you in a FEW DAYS? This is obviously the attitude form the top down. Yesterday took the cake. I ran in and grabbed a few things and grabbed a pack of roast beef. I had not eaten since 6 a.m. and it was about 6 p.m.(I was starving and my stomach wasn't feeling well), so I unloaded my cart and jumped in the car. I rifled through the bag and grabbed the roast beef. I was so excited. This was the last straw. Te roast beef was so slimy that after using the sanitary solution at the front desk, I still couldn't get it off my hands... GROSS!!! Come on guys... can we please get a Whole Foods or a company with some backbone. Not sure what happened in the last 2 months, but I have seen a huge decrease in traffic int hat parking lot! We run our own business. I can not fathom how a company could put a product on the shelf when they know it is rotten. What they need to understand is that although they may make $10 on that Roast Beef, they are now going to lose our $1,400 we spend there each month(4kids). Sorry Acme, you were a strong brand for years(not anymore), but I am now going to have to break tradition in my family and go down the street. read more

It's old-faithful Acme in Doylestown. The parking lot is a ZOO and the produce can really variable from great to "you're kidding?". Staff are generally friendly and lines move quickly. It can get crazy crowded on weekends - and now the SuperFresh of D-town is gone (yup - the recession at work) we are left with this or Weis. The self checkout is fast and convenient. But the store is not recommended! read more

Bought my Easter ham as usual from them but it was HORRIBLE. I had to cut off about 1/3 for fat and skin. The worst ham ever!!!! The store is OK and the people are always nice and helpful. Parking is a nightmare but they do have nice sales and nice selection. read more

In proper food rotation of ready to eat foods, putting new product on top of old and not changing over to a fresh container. The product I witnessed was some sort of cold salad looked like coleslaw. Fried tortilla chips stored in boxes food was received in. As we are all figuring out how to navigate these new restrictions because of Covid-19 I'm appalled by these practices of this company, if that level of neglect is done in front of the public what is done behind the "scene"? I have been shopping at this store for years, since my aunt moved into the retirement community nearby. Without fail, each employee greets us with a smile and is always patient and kind to the elderly clientele. The prices are excellent and the range of products offered is better than most other stores I have shopped in. Recently I have had bilateral knee replacement surgery and witnessed the store from a new angle. I utilized one of the electric carts and was very impressed with the mobility, ease of use and speed of the cart. I have used these carts in many other stores and they are usually adequate at best. On December 23 I went there in the evening only to encounter a rude butcher when the other butcher (not rude) asked her what she was looking for (for me). I saw him put his hands up like I was ridiculous for asking for lamb chops. Yes how dare I ask for lamb chops two days before XMAS-- give ME a break! It was only four o'clock and already out when it's a holiday. AND I am not referring to the young butcher because he is nice. This is a nice supermarket,usually smells of baked goods or roasting chicken when you walk thru the door. The fruits and veggies are displayed attractively. The employees for the most part are polite and helpful. I particularly think the deli counter always looks so tempting even tho its full of goodies of which I'm not allowed to eat. The parking lot can be a bit of a cramped nightmare but that's par for the course in older shopping centers. But this store is more than just a market. For it's sale of political literature in the disguise of gossip rags at the checkout, declares this store to be an organization of the political extreme right. The headlines on these tabloids are generally offensive to an educated individual of any political belief and in reality speaks to the lack of moral decision making within the management and owners. So,if you don't mind giving money to these types,this is the store for you. If you're a person of morality and values,there are several other great stores around that would never be part of this subversive type of behavior. read more
