I always feel a little bit weird about writing positive reviews for little places that I really like. My fear is that word will get out and that so many people will start going there that either I won't be able to get a room for my next visit, or they'll get sloppy. Too bad. I can't help but say really nice things about Bluehome.
The check-in was simple. I told them that I would be arriving late on a weeknight and they had someone wait for me to arrive. The room was more than what I expected. A nice kitchen area. A kitchen table. A comfortable bed. Two TV's (one in each room). A large dresser. And, a giant bathroom. I knew I had chosen wisely. There is also a heater/fan in the room that I didn't need.
The best part about the place is the staff. From the front desk to the dining room staff to the cleaning people; everyone was very polite and patient with me. They helped me find things in the neighborhood and even arranged for a rental bike to be dropped off. I felt very welcome there.
The hotels are on a quiet street a few blocks north of Alexanderplatz (as you could probably see on the map). If you sleep with the windows open there could be a bit of a noise issue. There's an elementary school across the street and a bar on the corner. The sound of the kids was really nice to wake up to. The sound of the drunks yelling up and down the street was annoying, but it wasn't the fault of the hotel.
I'll be returning to Berlin someday and will definitely stay there again... if I can still get a room. read more
