I had an extremely poor experience with Ace Taxi Transportation and would not recommend them, especially for time-sensitive rides involving children. I pre-booked and prepaid transportation for my daughter to arrive at school by 7:15 AM. On both yesterday and today, I called around 6:20 AM to confirm, and both days my daughter arrived late. When I contacted dispatch, I spoke with a dispatcher named Sheldon, whose behavior was completely unacceptable. He was rude, dismissive, and highly unprofessional. Rather than taking responsibility or attempting to resolve the issue, he spoke to me disrespectfully and showed no concern for the inconvenience or the impact on my child. What was most alarming is that after I expressed that the service I received was poor, he called me back only to hang up in my face. He then told me he would not notify a manager and that I would need to call back myself at 10 AM. That response is unethical and shows a serious lack of accountability. If a company cannot reliably provide pre-scheduled, prepaid transportation -- and allows dispatchers to treat customers this way -- that speaks volumes about their management and standards. The car was dirty. There were smear marks all over the windows and crumbs all over the seat so I was literally sitting in crumbs on the way home and there is something that somebody had drop all over the floor and even the dash in between head like gross sticky like stuff on it. I used to have a decent experience with you but I guess I'm gonna have to look for a different company I really wish I had looked at these reviews before I came back to you. This service left my parents stranded in the rain and weather today in Enfield. My parents were in Enfield for a doctor's appointment. It was VERY difficult to get them there from Evergreen nursing home. The driver gave them a card and said "about a half an hour before you're ready to go back (to Evergreen) give us a call and we'll be here". Well, my parents called 4 times and each time were assured someone would be there. Each time they waited a half an hour, no one came. They'd call again, wait a half an hour, and no one came. This went on until the doctor's office had to close for the day. The receptionist at the doctor's office was alarmed with what was going on and placed yet ANOTHER call to this Taxi service. After explaining how long my parents had been waiting, this Taxi service promised they would be there in half an hour. Guess what? They never came. My parents ended up staying from 2:00 PM to past 6:00 PM waiting for this Taxi service. My step-father has had 2 toes amputated and has a serious infection on his right heel. He was there visiting the wound center. I am out of town on business, but you can rest assured that I will share this story everywhere. EVERYWHERE. The only reason I'm giving them two stars, is because I've been using their service for years. Unfortunately, it seems like lately they have been hiring nothing but drivers, who DON'T KNOW HOW TO DRIVE!!! This is the second time, they've had a driver run off the ledge, of my driveway. The end of the driveway, curves to one side. But these drivers, went straight. They've wrecked my new driveway, caused me to miss medical appointments, and cost me my place to live. They definitely need to hire drivers that know what they're doing, and they haven't bothered to try and condensate me, either. The absolute worst transportation service I have ever attempted to use. They were notified 5 days in advance for the need of a wheelchair car for transportation of an elderly patient from Riverside Health Care in East Hartford to Hartford Orthopedic Surgeons in Manchester. After not showing at the requested time, they were contacted four times. Each time I spoke with a different, slightly less-informed person than the time before. In Particular, Rachael and Diane (the alleged manager) were especially USELESS. I was given 4 different "alternate truths" about the lack of transportation, blaming everything from volume to driver error to heavy volume. As a result of their callous attitude and total lack of customer service, an already apprehensive, wheelchair bound senior was extremely late for her appointment. I didn't even want to give this company 1 star. I called 2 hours ahead for a taxi to take me from downtown Hartford to the airport at 4pm. At 4:10, I hadn't heard anything so I called - they said the driver would be to me in 2 minutes. Okay, great... I won't miss my flight. 4:20 rolls around and I call again. The can driver is only 1 minute away now... Hmmmm 4:25, I finally see the car - hallelujah! But... It drives right past my screaming and waving arms. 4:27, I get a phone call from the driver saying that she can't find it, and I tell her that I was waving and screaming at her. We response? "Sorry, I wasn't paying attention because I was on my phone." Wait... What? 4:30, I get picked up. It's POURING down rain. I have a heavy suitcase (I am moving out of state so it's heavier than usual). My driver rolls down her window and says "you need the trunk?". I reply yes... Praying that she would get out and help me put my suitcase in the trunk in the pouring rain.... But no. She doesn't. I even asked her if they don't help in this company and she ignored me. I am now in the back of the car sitting in unbelievable traffic that would not be a problem had she arrived at 4:00 like I simply asked. I swear.... I better not miss my flight. I can't say how prompt or courteous. I can't tell you the quality of the vehicles or knowledge of the drivers. I don't even know if the prices are the same, lower, or higher. But, what I can tell you is this is a terrible company who doesn't deserve to be used. I am an insurance agent and they have someone in risk management who it would seem has a job to not pay a claim that they are definitely responsible for. Police report in hand they decided themselves to try and make the person with whom they forced off the road responsible. Their driver even said they witnessed the car swerve to avoid contact. Great taxi service! We tried Uber for my daughter's early morning trip this morning from Storrs to Hartford Amtrak. No cars available. We tried two other taxi services in the area -- one said call back at 8am, which was too late; the other didn't answer. Ace was the last resort, and I was concerned about the low star rating. The dispatcher picked up on the first ring -- even at 5am. He was polite, gave me a time estimate, then gave me a flat rate quote that was 2x the Uber rate, but given the situation, perfectly reasonable. He was polite when I called again for an update. The driver showed up on time, got my daughter to the train station in record time, and provided great service. My daughter felt safe and secure. Highly recommended. read more

Terrible cab ride. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Needed a cab in Hartford and an Ace taxi just happened to stop when my friend and I tried to hail one, so I can't say much for the customer service as far as calling them in advance, but the ride was terrible. Once we got in the car, the driver's GPS system kept turning off and wouldn't work. I understand that things happen and technology fails us sometimes, so I tried to help by clarifying my destination (mentioned that it was on the same street as a major college in the area) and asking if he wanted me to use the GPS on my phone and tell him where to go, but he insisted he knew the way. Turns out he didn't, and he went past my destination's exit on the highway and might have even kept going if I didn't tell him to please take the next exit. And yes, I had to pay for the extra distance due to HIS mistake. To make matters worse, the guy pulled out his phone and was texting while driving, which caused him to weave and cross the center line of the road a little. And then we were met with very audible disappointed/ "tisk tisk" noises when we selected the "none" option on the "Tip?" screen while paying for our ride by card. We selected "none" because we planned to tip in cash, but the whole ride was so terrible and unsafe that I was tempted to not tip at all. read more

Highlights: 20 min late for pick-up. Got lost. Drove unsafely. The story: I called ahead for a 6am pickup to go 2 miles to the train station. 10 minutes is generous for this trip; but, for some reason, they wanted me to allow 30 minutes for it. No, I'd rather not be an additional 30 minutes early for my already early train. I asked directly "If I ask you to pick me up at 6am will you be there at 6am?" "yes" "Then I am still comfortable being picked up at 6am" The taxi finally arrived 6:20 (after I called them twice). My train leaves at 6:35. The driver could not find me because she was outside of the wrong apartments.... calling and saying to me "I am at 12 X street. Where is 30 X street?" Answer: I am down the street a bit! Just as you would expect. She also explained being late because she thought I was in a totally different town. Um, that does not inspire confidence. When we got in the taxi, the driver, understandably wanted to go a bit faster--- but was describing driving 90 on the highway (no thank you-- I'd rather live). And then she did this weird maneuver to go through a red light where she pretends to turn then goes straight... yeah, again, catching this train is important to me, but not life-or-death important. The good news is I caught the train by the skin of my teeth, the bad news is I nearly had a panic attack in the process. read more

I just used them to get from my hotel to the airport, and while they were there at 20 minutes when they said 15, I found the driver was great, very courteous and professional. No surprise they have a 1 star rating. I would give them 0 if possible. I called a week prior to a medical procedure to get a rate estimate and was told I can call the weekend before to confirm. My procedure was on Monday & I called Saturday to confirm the trip to and from. I was given confirmation numbers. I told the dispatcher 3 times the return was 12pm, noon. He kept saying midnight. Anyway, Monday comes and 1 hour before the pick up time I get a call saying they don't service my area! So weak! I was able to get a ride from executive so all was fine. I used this company for educational purposes, and they are always late (about 30 minutes everyday). I am late to and from school, and never have the same driver. Used ace a few times without a problem however last month i needed a taxi to the union station to get a bus to boston for a flight to europe. When they were 5 minutes late i called and the disptacher said the taxi is 5 minutes away. 15 minutes later i called again and this time the dispatcher said that they were very busy and were still trying to get a taxi to me, so the previous response was a total lie. I was now close to missing my bus but fortunately my neighbor saw me on the driveway and kindly offered me a ride. I can never trust this company again. read more

Highlights: Arrived 1 hour and 15 minutes early for scheduled reservation, stayed 15 minutes, left a few phone messages and left. When call to find out why this happened I am blamed for the incident and no taxi cab is sent to pick me up. No response from Manager. You should stay far away from this taxi service! They are about as unprofessional as they come if there is any problem and will blame you for the incident. They are also completely uneducated and can't tell one number from another. I don't how many times they have tried to show up an hour or more early and when I question them as to why they are coming so early they say "So what?" I tell them the pick up time and they act like they are doing the right thing. Basically this company hires people who don't even have a high school education and maybe not even an 8th grade one. Most of the incidents I was actually home ahead of time so it wasn't a major problem but it was an irritation. But this last time was a whopper. Showing up over an hour early and basically trying to harass someone for not being home to be picked up when they choose to be there. They left several messages and were angry I wasn't there. When I call up wondering why my cab isn't there when it is suppose to I am told they were there and left and that the dispatcher might not allow another cab to be sent out because of my no show. The woman I spoke to on the phone was rude to me and didn't care at all about helping with the situation. When I told her this showing up whenever they feel like it was unacceptable she didn't care at all. No apology. Just ice cold. She asked if I wanted the number of the manager but this proved to be pointless. Sometimes when I called it rang a few times before going to voice mail but twice it rang 10 times which I know indicates that the person is available and not answering. I did leave a few messages and got no response which was no surprise to me at all because after looking this company up on the better business beaurea I found out they had an F rating for refusing to answer customer complaints. The fact that they think they can arrive an hour or more in advance of a scheduled appointment and then blame the customer for not being there is shocking. They are the worst cab company in this regard. The worst! There were other incidents but me being the forgiving person I let them go. How about two months ago I made an online reservation that they never showed up for. I had the confirmation email and everything and even offered to forward it to the company to prove it. In their defense, the guy on the phone was very helpful and did send a cab right out for me so I just attributed this to a simple error. But after this incident happened I am beginning to wonder. How could I receive a confirmation email from the company if they never received my scheduled pick up in the first place? Someone there must have deleted it, probably by accident, but deleted none the less. I decided that the problem was due to relying on email and that by calling up for the reservations would solve the problem. Boy, was I wrong! I also made excuses for the one hour or more call ups for pick up thinking that if I hadn't been there to answer the phone they actually would have just showed up at the right time. Again, majorly wrong! They would have showed up, complained to the company that I wasn't there and that would have been it. I am surprised this company is still in business since they don't seem to care about there customers at all. They just do what they want. Or they can't tell the difference between one number and another, something that most preschoolers can do. It is hard to tell which it is since when it was pointed out to them they were coming at the wrong time before none of the drivers acted surprised. It is a shame the company has these problems because there were things I really liked about the company. The first few times I used them I appreciated that the drivers came 10 to 15 minutes early. I attributed it to being punctual and caring about their job. Many of the drivers have been friendly and professional. I feel bad for many of the drivers who work for this company because the dispatchers and people taking the reservations are mediocre at best. Not all, but many of them. It is the dispatchers who send the drivers out to pick up the customers so it is ultimately their fault. Many of the drivers are not that sharp because not one who came early ever thought it was strange they were being called out to pick someone up so early, but that again is not their fault. All the drivers have to be good at is finding their way to the customers house, get them to where they need to go, and be professional along the way. In each of these areas the company excels. But the dispatchers are the worst of the worst and the ones picking up the phones and dealing with the customers are a mixed bag. One time the guy who picked me up decided to interview me about my disability and kept turning his head backward while driving, almost causing an accident. It took us an hour to get from Rocky Hill to the airport at 5 am. Recently, I was outside waiting in my wheelchair for over an hour and despite 5 phone calls, the taxi never showed up. The dispatch lied about the location of the driver- he wasn't even in my neighborhood. I had to drive myself, find handicapped parking, and barely made my fight. This company should lose its license.
