The pricing was competitive, the service was responsive, and I felt like I had found a local insurance partner that truly cared about its customers.
Because of that positive initial experience, I referred several friends, family members, and professional contacts to Ty. Unfortunately, many of them never received follow-up communication. Some of my closest relatives attempted multiple times to connect and ultimately had to move their business elsewhere because they couldn't get responses.
Despite that, I continued my relationship with Farm Bureau and carried both my home and auto insurance through them. Several months ago, I was involved in an accident with an uninsured driver. While Farm Bureau ultimately handled the claim appropriately, the level of support and communication I received during the actual incident was disappointing. As I sat waiting for law enforcement and trying to understand what steps I needed to take, I received very little guidance from the local office. Once the claim moved beyond the local level and I began working directly with an adjuster, the experience improved significantly.
Recently, I decided to move my insurance coverage to another carrier that offered better rates and with whom I had previous positive experience. When I contacted this local Farm Bureau office to cancel my auto policy, I was unable to reach anyone by phone and left a message and requested a callback. Monica eventually responded, but only through email. The communication felt beyond impersonal and transactional, with no acknowledgment of a customer leaving, no effort to understand why I was moving my business, and no appreciation for the relationship we had built. (Making me feel all the better for moving on) When I replied, I got no answer, I followed up and never received a response.
My policy was ultimately canceled as requested, but the overall experience left a sour impression. Looking back, the exceptional service I experienced at the beginning feels more like a honeymoon phase than a reflection of the long-term customer experience. While I have no complaints about the initial setup or the eventual handling of my claim, the lack of consistent communication, follow-through, and customer care ultimately led me to take my business elsewhere.
