I have been to DuoTones three times. Twice for a hair cut, and once for a lash lift. The hair cuts…read morewere fine, well worth the price even if I didn't quite get what I was looking for. But I was surprised by my negative experience when I went for a lash lift. When booking, the website lists the price as "starting at $60". Understandable, I figured there would be additional charges depending on what services you choose. No where in the booking process was a final price listed, nor was one provided to me when I arrived for my appointment. After my appointment, I discovered I had apparently be assigned a high level lash tech who would cost double what I had been expecting at that $60 price. When I sent an email to the manager, uncomfortable with the sudden switch up, she wrote me and admitted that they only had one lash tech at the moment. So no one was ever going to get the $60 price listed on their website - every single person who booked would be paying that higher price, without ever being told this was the case. Not only is this bait and switch illegal according to the FTC, it's just plain crummy business practice. Too bad, since all the ladies working there seemed lovely. If you go, just practice good Buyer Beware strategies and be aware a fast one might be pulled on you.

I booked my appointment two days in advance with two specific nail technicians who were recommended to me, but when we arrived, they didn't honor our booking and assigned us to different technicians without telling us beforehand. I went with my niece, and while her nail tech did a beautiful job, mine was absolutely horrible. I booked because I fell in love with a nail design that was featured on Lux Nails & Spa's own website. I showed my nail lady the exact photo and asked for that design on both my nails and my toes. She told me she couldn't do it on my toes because the flower was thick or something of that nature, so I said that was fine and agreed to a French pedicure. I was under the impression I was still getting the design on my fingernails. We spent about two hours in the salon. It wasn't until my builder gel was already finished that she finally told me the girl who created the design didn't work there anymore. I even suggested changing the design to just half yellow half pink like the pinky on the picture and she said they didn't have that yellowmake it work, and that I should just do plain pink. At that point, I felt completely stuck. If I had been told before the service started that they couldn't recreate the design they advertise on their own website, I never would have agreed to any services. The workmanship was just as disappointing. I paid for the # 2 pedicure and she brought out the hot stones for 20 seconds on my leg. There was no cuticle care on my hands or feet, my heels were barely touched, the builder gel is thick and uneven, the French tips are sloppy, and there is polish on my skin. The photos speak for themselves. We spent $263.96 at this salon.
