Grand Valley Home Insulation

Grand Valley Home Insulation

(1 review)

Our home was constructed in the mid seventies, and the original insulation was not keeping up…read more After a little research I determined we had about a R-15 level in our attic and our area requires a level of R-49 (in other words we had 5" and needed about 15"). I priced out purchasing cellulose from the big box home improvement store. All in it would have cost about $800, plus a full day of me loading bales of insulation into the bedroom and blowing it into the attic while my poor wife cut and loaded the bales into the hopper. (We did this in a previous home about 12 years ago and it is NOT a great memory.) I decided to call Grand Valley Home Insulation for a quote. I assumed they would charge well over a thousand dollars (since doing it myself was going to cost $800). Jim came out the next day and spent about 5 min in the attic. He explained the advantages of his product over the cellulose I was considering and took time to answer all our questions. The main advantage of his product is the fact that it doesn't settle like the cellulose does. It's also flame resistant so there's no risk of fire being started by a recessed can light. PLUS Jim was going to actually charge less than I would have spent on materials alone had I done the project. We saw Jim on Friday and he scheduled the job for the following Tuesday. He and his one assistant were in and out in about one hour. They fed a 3" hose through the window that connected to a trailer in the driveway where all the insulation was loaded. This means we had next to nothing to clean up after they finished, and we weren't breathing dust particles like we would have with the hopper from the big box home improvement store. So if you're furnace doesn't seem to be keeping up, or the snow on your attic roof seems to melt faster than your neighbors. Or your A/C doesn't keep up in the summer, please call Grand Valley Home Insulation for a free estimate. In the end the service they provided was fast, clean, professional and LESS EXPENSIVE than doing it myself. I'm attaching an after picture for your viewing pleasure.
