They are professional, patient (for those of us anxious about visiting the dentist), and very accommodating. Dr. Afshin is an excellent dentist and explains what he is doing and why. I very much appreciate that he provides all of the available options and doesn't try to "upsell" on the work that needs to be done. Dr. Afshin is very diligent and saved my life. That sounds dramatic but its true - he caught an aggressive cancer in my mouth at a very early stage and his proactivity about making referrals has resulted in my being cancer free today. I opted for the laughing gas rather than general anaesthetic because I didn't want the risk of being put under. Turns out it didn't matter, because I was out of it and didn't feel or remember a thing. Healing time was FAST. I only missed one day of work and the swelling/bruising was hardly noticeable. The T3's prescribed probably weren't necessary, but I took them for fun anyways because they made me a bit loopy. Honestly I can't comment on his bedside manner because I was so out of it, but technically the job was done very well with zero complications.

I went to Dr. Braverman because he accommodated my insurance AND general anesthesia which was important to me as I have had negative experiences in the past having teeth pulled with localized anesthesia (freezing). Too say I was a little reluctant would be an understatement, everyone's heard the wisdom teeth horror stories and me, I'll overthink and panic on just about anything. To this day, my procedure with Dr. Braverman was one of my more positive experiences, in life in general not just dental work. I STILL have the T3 prescription he wrote me. I had very little pain if any post procedure, the procedure itself was quick, the anesthesia they used was calming, I felt no pain and I woke up feeling like $1,000,000. I was so anxious I got NO SLEEP the night before and I had an early 7:20am appointment coming from Richmond. I went with so many preconceived notions and every single one of them was completely shut down. It was a learning experience for someone like me.

That said, I would like to commend Dr Hua. He has been my dentist for the last few years, and while I expect that I will never again find a dentist as cheap as my previous one, I haven't felt that Dr Hua or Brentwood Dental has over-charged me in any of my visits. I don't carry any dental insurance, so I must admit that I do tend to only visit the dentist only when I can no longer avoid it. Most recently, I visited Dr Hua for the extraction of two wisdom teeth. The initial consultation included a 3d x-ray and a very clear explanation of what was needing to happen, and the range of what it would cost. One of them had disintegrated and I knew that I could not prolong dealing with them any longer. The procedure took under an hour and I wasn't even aware that Dr Hua was wrapping up, he was that smooth. It was as painless as can be expected for local anesthetic, I have no doubts about the quality of work and, happily, came in at the low end of the cost estimation. All in all, I would not hesitate to recommend Brentwood Dental, assuming that all the dentists there are of equal quality to Dr Hua.

The damage this time? CAD125.00. That's for one single tooth filling on a tooth that had no cavities. Which means no major drilling was needed. Yet I was charged the minimum fee for a standard filling. I think there should be a discount for small procedures like these. It's too bad MSP doesn't cover dental because the actual costs are not regulated. And if this is left alone, it could be dangerous and may be too late if an intervention is realized and the costs have skyrocketed. And what about those with no dental insurance by their work or on their own? I'm not happy with the pricing at all.
