I chatted with George & Irma for a while, which led to George customizing the original design to be closer to what I perceive as my wife's style. The earrings came out perfectly and my wife loves them! Communications along the way was perfect. The price was very reasonable. You can easily tell that George & Irma truly enjoy providing custom jewelry that meets the buyer's vision. The earring were not expensive, but I feel that I received the same attention & care as if I was purchasing a 2 carat engagement ring. I can't emphasize enough what a great experience I had! I had a watch repaired here, and it's kind of alarming (literally) when you walk in. You need to push a button then someone lets you in and an alarm goes off. There's clutter all over the place and bowls of old candy. I got a watch battery replaced for a reasonable price, but then found that during the replacement, the water resistant seal on the watch was compromised and a tiny little rubber loop was now hanging off of the bottom of the watch. I didn't realize that's what had happened until I took it to another place and they informed me. I can't speak to their products, but if you get a repair here, at least check your repair before you leave the store. And don't eat the candy.

Richard Kenneth is an estate jeweler and has more items than you could ever try on in any one day. His front window is not so much a display as a collection of gorgeous baubles - art deco pieces from the 20's and 30's, delicate cream cameos, and fantastically creative settings for stones of all sorts. I had no intention to buy any jewelry but I couldn't resist squeezing into the store (don't mind the buzzer as you ring to be let in) to browse and try on several pieces. The shop is tiny and cramped and holds a tremendous amount of history in the items on display. This is a one-of-a-kind establishment so only go if you've got a few hours to spare. Items do not carry price tags, nor are they arranged in any discernible order. If you know what you want, Mr. Kenneth can locate it within his store within mere moments. He can also price any item for you based off of his long history in the antiques business and extensive knowledge of metals and stones. The man keeps meticulous records! How he keeps track of them, I will never know! I was present to overhear a conversation between him and another gentleman in the business and it was interesting to hear about the complex world of antiques. You'll also find an abundance of silver, watches, brooches, and more. He may come off a bit gruff at first but this is only because he is a no-nonsense man who isn't into haggling or dealing with shoppers looking for a cheap deal. I also imagine that it is exhausting having to be constantly vigilant of those who may try to sell stolen goods. I quite understand Mr. Kenneth's protective nature as I am sure his little shop has been a target of theft at one time or another. He isn't the only shop owner that discourages photo-taking and it would have been polite for Dona T. to ask before snapping away. Mr. Kenneth is very knowledgeable about the care and keeping of jewelry as well and can teach you about proper maintenance of your purchase. Mr. Kenneth gave me a very fair price on a flawless madeira topaz in a unique gold setting, flanked with pristine diamonds. He had it sized by his jeweler and back to me within one week. This would be the perfect place to find a unique engagement or wedding ring, especially if you are looking to stand apart from the Tiffany/Tacori crowd. I have no doubt that I will return.
