I have been a patient at Charleston Oral and Facial Surgery since before 2022, and I want to…read morerecognize Dr. Strauss, who has been my doctor, and especially Hannah. I have had family members with disabilities around me throughout my life, but I was always able to work and support myself. That has changed dramatically over the past few years. I now provide full-time care for my disabled aunt in my home. I cannot leave her alone long enough to maintain a job, I receive no SSI or disability income, and I am not paid for being her caregiver. I wouldn't have it any other way because she is my family and this is where I need to be. However, at 61, when I realistically have only so many working years remaining, suddenly being unable to earn an income has had a profound financial impact on my life. That is important to this review because it explains why I have probably required far more patience from Hannah over the last two or three years than I ever did before. Trying to determine when I can leave my aunt, when I can come in, what dental work I can afford at that particular time, and what needs to wait has sometimes made me admittedly chaotic and caused me to change plans more than once. I have had close to $100,000 in dental work and surgeries over the years. To be very clear, those expenses did NOT all come from Charleston Oral and Facial Surgery. Quite the opposite--they have often been the ones trying to help repair or correct problems from previous dental work. I sometimes joke that I would probably own my house outright by now if I hadn't spent so much on my teeth. Through all of this, Hannah has shown me what seems like endless patience. No matter how many times I've had to ask questions, reconsider something, change plans, or figure out the financial side before moving forward, she has never made me feel like a problem or an inconvenience. She is incredibly professional, but what stands out most is simply how kind she is. Hannah doesn't know every detail of what is happening in my life when I call or walk through that door, yet she has consistently treated me with patience, compassion and dignity. There have been times when that kindness has made something that felt overwhelming suddenly feel manageable again. Dr. Strauss and the entire Charleston Oral and Facial Surgery team deserve recognition for their professionalism and care, but I especially want Hannah to get the recognition she deserves. She has probably had no idea just how much patience she has extended to me during one of the most complicated periods of my life. Thank you, Dr. Strauss, and most of all, thank you, Hannah. Your kindness and patience with me have meant far more than you probably realize. Sincerely, Connie

I don't have enough space to share my unpleasant experience …read more The surgeon was unsympathetic to my serious intense pain that was making me think of doing crazy things to get myself out of pain vs calling in a painkiller they are all warned against using ! I had to BEG for what I needed and when I got to the pharmacy there were an anemic few! There is a data base with a users listed that's their job to check before they disregard one's pain SEEING THE TOOTH WAS INFECTED. The second day I called saying I was still in excruciating pain ( the infection persisted and was spreading unbeknownst to me. How could they know, they hadn't bothered to give me a courtesy call to see how I was after the digging out of the tooth!!! I left a message saying I needed more pain medication immediately. Not only didn't I hear back from them but 3 days later A RANDOM DENTIST CALLED SAYING SHE RECEIVED A CALL FROM the oral surgeon for pain meds for me! He phoned THE WRONG DENTIST!!! Concerning ! Furthermore, why would he call the dentist to phone in pain meds for me when he was the one that dug into my head to pull the pieces of this infected tooth out! It was a total shit show. I am furious with all of them and would never sit foot in there again, neither should you.!

The staff was so kind & accommodating during this emergency, I plan on switching my dental care to Dr Ware at Shelbourne & Associates. Everyone at this office was competent, efficient & so helpful. Well, today is the day and while we wait out in the car he is inside getting all looped up and hopefully sleeping through his removal of those pesky room stealers in his mouth. I fully trust they are caring for him like he was their own because honestly that is how the staff made us feel on our first visit and at checkin today. If you find yourself needing any kind of reconstructive or wisdom removals I highly recommend giving them an opportunity to discuss it with you and have a little fun in the process! Why fret when you can laugh!
