Once at our house, he installed the keypad lock we talked about, and helped rekey a bunch of locks around the house so we only had to deal with one key, instead of many (you can do this!). He was also just generally super nice and helpful and happy to work around my kids and my mom. He was efficient (in and out in about an hour), and the work seems like exactly what we wanted, and nothing we didn't. I don't have a ton of experience with how much these things should cost, but I do know that he did a great job and saved us a huge hassle with all the work he did. He restored several mortise locks in our 1907 home which had not been working properly in over 40 years. During that time no locksmith was able to help nor even want to tackle a lock that wasn't new. For decades we had Jerry-rigged multiple workarounds and he fixed all of the four locks in 2 hours. When he discovered that to make one lock work even better, he would have to go back to his shop and return the next day with the proper tiny part, that's precisely what he did. He arrived when he said he would, was cheerful and professional. And the cost for this service was more than fair. One word to the wise: If you have to go to his bricks and mortar location for any reason, follow your GPS faithfully. His store is tucked behind City Glass and there is no sign out front of that building advertising City Locksmith.

I scheduled an appointment, and we checked in once or twice before the scheduled appointment time. I met up with Ryan at a predetermined location. Upon greeting him, I could see that he was a really nice guy too. He had everything he needed in order to program new key fobs for me on the spot. He also helped me out by letting me know that I did not need to have new keys cut, which would have cost even more. By the way I was told by "others" that I would need to cut the keys as well....sure. Ryan was able to program two key fobs, and my original keys still worked. The whole transaction probably took no more than 10 minutes. I was able to pay him with a mobile payment, but he accepted all forms of payment, which was really convenient. We have now proceeded to file an action in small claims court to get our deposit back. The long version: We hired Ulster Overhead on May 5th to install a new garage door. They deposited our check on May 13th. They informed us it would take about two weeks for the project to be completed. When we tried to call to get an update on their status, their mailbox was always full. Their voicemail says that you can text them, but they would not respond to our text messages. By mid-July, Wyatt reached out to us, only after I made a Facebook post asking for advice on how to get this company to respond. He said they were still waiting for a few missing parts and would update us soon. We never got an update, and he never responded to our texts for THREE MORE MONTHS. By this point, I started reading other reviews of people who have experienced a similar situation with them. On October 3rd, I sent a certified letter which got returned for an "invalid mailing address." October 7th, Wyatt finally responded after multiple other texts saying he would get the door installed "this upcoming week." He did not come nor did he respond to multiple requests for him to give me an install date. October 17th, Wyatt texted that he would come Thursday or Friday, and would get back with the exact date after he could. He never came and never texted back. I gave him one more chance and said he had until 10/31 to install the door or we would file an action in small claims court to get our deposit back. He wrote back saying he should be able to get it done by the weekend. He did not come and did not communicate with us again since then. Anyone who recently wrote a positive review for this company is probably a buddy of this guy trying to help him out by burying the honest bad reviews. There is no excuse for the lack of communication and stringing us along. The level of frustration we have experienced in dealing with them is beyond description.
