Dr. Raskin was professional, communicative and personable. I had been going there for a while then suddenly in a single conversation I was simply dropped as a patient. I never understood the reason nor the cause I was just dropped. After thinking about it for quite a long time I decided to just file the experience away under "I don't understand WTF just happened" it was pretty jarring and confusing. This is not an office dedicated to getting you out at the first possible instant and their adding both facts from a law brochure, to the uses of known components of the herb, and of web sites to deepen information further exceeds expectations. I discovered Dr. Raskin at four or five years ago and have found him and his staff to be always compassionate and professional. A couple of the negative reviews I have seen here seem totally weird. As a medical cannabis provider myself, I have probably referred over a dozen people to this office and have had nothing but gratitude from folks I sent there. the ratings scale would not let me go lower than this. upon entering his office, i noticed dr. raskin lacking in a comforting manner, already looking past the visibly upset patient he was escorting out of his office, to welcome me with a big smile. the questionnaire i was handed made me uncomfortable. i felt the the questions he wanted me to answer were unnecessarily intrusive and i wasn't comfortable divulging so much personal information for a prescription for medical marijuana. i wrote down that i have a primary doctor elsewhere. during our conversation, dr. raskin drilled me with questions, talking "at" me vs. "to" me. when i felt bullied and refused to submit to such intimidation, he SLAMMED my questionnaire down, telling me he would not help me. he stormed out of the reception area, went into his office, slamming the door behind him while yelling at one of the women, to come in here; i want to talk to you. i worried about her. he was obviously going to bawl her out for something he thought she didn't handle right with me. i was relieved that i was never alone with him. his anger was frightening. dr. raskin showed no respect to me, his staff or the patient before me. i would not recommend this practice and have since found a different facility where the staff and doctor are welcoming and the questionnaire, very thorough, but not intrusive. the interview with this doctor was 'give and take' and she respected that i know my body and what ails or doesn't ail me. i'm thrilled someone recommended them to me after this fiasco. read more

I got an appt for the same day, was seen on time, no one else in waiting room so no crowding or feeling like I was at a cattle call or an audition for a cat food commercial. This is one of the most accessible and reliable doctors I have been to in the 5 years I have been a medical patient! The staff was efficient and friendly, the atmosphere was clean and very doctor-esq. The doc himself was amazing knowledgeable, friendly and led me to believe he is a patient himself. I made an appointment the day prior to wanting to be seen, and during my call I was disconnected. The front desk person called me back super quick and finished helping me set up my appointment. Fantastic staff and service--scheduled an appointment for me within hours of my first phone call, had my papers in hand less than two hours after I scheduled. The doctor was VERY helpful in explaining my potential drug interactions with my prescriptions, very personable and concerned with my individual case. I could feel right away when I walked into this office that the tension was thick. Dr. Raskin asked "You even have an appointment?" in a gruff voice. I answered "Yes." as his receptionist came rushing in from somewhere & finding my folder as I gave my name. I was given a form to fill out as I gave them my ID. Somehow you could still feel the tension in this office between the staff. I had a question about the form, so I asked the receptionist, who then asked the Dr. who then came out of to the lobby to be as rude as rude can get to me. All he needed was a few forms from my Dr whom would have faxed him them in a heartbeat but he chose to be rude & belittling to me about the whole thing. My adult son was with me and finally couldn't keep out of it anymore and told the Dr what he thought of him for behaving so badly to one his patients. Dr. came at him and called him an idiot and slammed the door in his face. I feel sorry for his receptionist & would not recommend this Dr. to my worst enemy! read more

Astonished because I've been a lawful medical marijuana user since 2010. Brought my paperwork, and never was asked to being in my medical proof, other than list of medications. I started in surprise staying I've never had to do this before, and the front office woman was trying to help me, as I was going to my phone to get to my medical records online. I hear bellowing from the doctors office saying he's under no obligation to see me. Talk about compassion. I then tell him, as he strides out to give me a piece of his mind, that I have proof, I'm on social security disability and I'm on medicare for my disabilities. He didn't want any of it and wants me to leave, staying he will not be my doctor. Yes, I cursed him out. I'm a senior citizen, and did not need to be treated the way he was treating me--like a criminal and drug abuser who's more concerned with himself than patients. DO NOT give this place your money. I'll go to oakland and take my chances with some who may not really need medical marijuana and get my license there. And after his reply to this review: Oh. And no I was not told. There's a Web page with a list of what to bring. Like every 420 doctor. I've NEVER had to bring actual medical records. I relied on my license from last year from a different doctor. And that crap about laws changed, requiring more documentation? I was able to get my license elsewhere today with what i was going to present to this sheister. I wanted to show him my communications with my doctors on my kaiser doctor email pages, but this guy would not even allow things to get to that point. My elderly mom has been going here for a couple of years to get help with her very severe arthritis condition. The staff at this office is kind, compassionate, and helpful all around. They gave her priority to see the doctor the last time she was there as it was obvious that she was in pain and had difficulty moving around. This office also makes the process easy and fast. Dr. Raskin and I discussed my health history (which I printed out and brought with me) and the various ways marijuana could help with my issue. Dr Gordon is an excellent, well qualified professional and treats his patients in a pleasant, polite and professional manner as is his job and won't give everyone what they want just because they ask for it if they are medically contraindicated. I called this place just awhile ago and lady sounded rushed and said just come in. That the doctor will see you so I jammed down there and there was no one in there, I could here someone yelling at there kid or something in the back room? I was early by like 6 mins so I just sat down waiting for hollering to stop. All it did was get louder and louder some kid got in big trouble or something I was tripped out and felt very uncomfortable .after about 5 mins I cut out and left , very un cool for doctors office scary wow yikes !! I had a similar experience to smokey. I went in for a renewal and Dr. Raskin said he maybe let it slide last time because I worked at a medical dispensary. Then told me to have a nice day because he didn't want to "risk" his licence considering there was nothing wrong with me. Since having a baby 11 months ago and trying every remedy out there, the best and most natural remedy has been the cannabis topicals. Thankfully I found a doctor who could tell just by looking at me I've been carrying around a 30lbs baby on my right hip and had serious neck and shoulder pain and prescribed me the medication I needed. NO THANKS to Dr. Raskin! He was rude, un professional and recommended Bengay and Tylenol...I'll pass. I'm back to work at the dispensary and will be recommending NO ONE. I called late on Friday and Dr. Raskin answered the phone he told me that they did not have any available appointments for today but he had some availability on Saturday. He asked if I knew were they were located since they had moved and if I was aware of what to bring. I told him I was looking at the web page and would bring what was required. I have used this doctor 3 times and he has always acted professionally. Yes he expect you to bring proof of your medical condition which truthfully was not difficult to do. When I arrived to the building the office was closed so I called them and a nice lady by the name of Libby let me in she was so helpful. I witness Dr.Ranskin having to tell another patient that he needed to bring more information and that he wanted to help him. The patient said he'd be back before he left Libby tried to give him helpful advice on obtaining his needed documents. My visit could not have gone smoother. My husband has been seeing Dr. Raskin for two years. I have been very ill, and I have chronic pain due to laying in a hospital bed for 10 months. What I love about Dr. Raskin is that he really looks at all the medical information and then provides information about the risks and the possible benefits from cannabis. I was not sleeping, I could not sleep because the pain was so bad. Now, I take a small amount at bedtime, if I have pain. I sleep so much better. Because I get better sleep my overall outlook is much better. I am hoping that some of the regular medications I am on (there are more than 10 of them!) can be reduced or eliminated because of cannabis edibles. Traditional medicine was not helping me with the pain. After discussing this with Dr. Raskin, I had a good idea of what type of cannabis to use, and how much. I highly recommend him because I could see that he read the information I brought him and made a careful assessment of the value of trying cannabis as a remedy for my insomnia and pain issues.
