DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR SAN DIEGO HOME HEALTHCARE!! The San Diego VA contracts with this company for home health care for veterans (in my case my 95 year old father). I would give them 0 stars if I could. Here's what is absolutely horrible about them: - They cancel last minute and you are left with no care. This happened frequently so it was very frustrating. - You are not notified in advance, they are just a no-show. Then we call to complain, and they state that we called to cancel service, which is not true. - They sent a young man to help us, and he would not touch my father. How do you care for an elderly person without touching them? He said he was trained by "watching a video" but didn't have any hands-on training. He was there for night care, and left earlier than he was supposed to without telling anyone. We also discovered he may have taken items from the house, and was snooping around in the garage (the security latch was not on when we awoke in the morning). Completely unacceptable! read more

Although the on call nurse was very rude. Andrea is a 1 in a million nurse. Even after my mom was discharged we had an emergency. She called after hours to see if she could help. We definitely need more nurses like her. Thank you so much you are truly amazing! read more

I broke my arm in three places and was hospitalized for a week. I am in my mid 70s and required significant encouragement and care when I first returned home. I had the benefit of home care services by ACCENTcare from the moment I returned from the hospital. Because at the beginning I was having three shifts of helpers per day, I had the opportunity to meet quite a number of the staff employed by ACCENT. They were uniformly well-trained, pleasant, and able to meet all my needs in full. Among the responsibilities I had them engage in was hygiene, bathing, assistance with ambulation, dressing, and rising and lowering from a chair. These marvelous staff members were also able to engage in meal preparation, light house work, and accompanying me to Doctor appointments. I am quite pleased to recommend this company to those who need caregiver services. read more

I was barely hanging onto this job because of pay, now that we are being bought out, I feel like I am getting paid for nothing and I know I am worth more. In my over 25 years of nursing I have seen a lot of nursing companies loose us. first, it takes forever to get someone to answer the phone and I do mean forever! I've had to call five and six times in a row to get someone to actually answer the phone. The who came out to do a sterile dressing change on my midline IV never once changed her gloves and did a sterile technique. I know what it is because I was a nurse for over 40 years. The second time she did it I had to get it changed by a different nurse not affiliated with the company because it was all bloody underneath and it looked nasty and disgusting. She said I intimidated her because she knew I was a nurse.. That should've indicated to her she should've been on her best skills. I'd look around before I go with this agency. I'd never use them again. Poor communication in the inability to get a hold of them when you need them because it takes forever. I'd give one and a half but I couldn't figure out how to do that. read more

My dad received care from the Accent care team after hospitalization for PT/OT. They were so on top of it! Unlike other HH agencies that we were referred to in the past who would just blow us off b/c it was difficult to obtain a PA from his HMO insurance, this team worked with his PCP to get everything in place. The physical and occupation therapists communicated really well with us and were very compassionate with their patient care. They made my dad feel motivated every time they came. Phenomenal team, we are grateful. Laura, Tarja, Nick -- those were our therapists so far and they have all been amazing. read more

They called at 9pm wanting to schedule an appointment 12 hours later. Not even close to business hours for the call. How rude to assume a) we were going to answer the phone at 9pm, or that b) we were available to accommodate their schedule 12 hours later. Further, they didn't identify which doctor referred us for home health, nor did they identify the services they were going to provide. Last time we dealt with this company, everything was last minute. Rude and short on manners. Why UCSD Healthcare is affiliated with this company is a mystery to me. read more

I had the best experience with the staff at Accentcare. I felt so overwhelmed when it came to organizing a course of action for my grandma, but I got to work with the most patient and understanding team. They took the time to go over every option I had, and it was so refreshing to feel a sense of empathy every step along the way. They connected me with caregiving for my grandma, and I was blown away by the level of service she received. And this high degree of personal care management was consistent throughout my entire experience. Brad (RN) and Vinnie (PT) took amazing care of my Dad when he was very sick with Parkinson's. Brad went above and beyond to help my family. He made himself so available to us and answered all of our questions when we were struggling to figure out end of life care. We are so grateful for everything Brad did for us. He really helped my family. Vinnie is a big guy with a big heart! He created a better quality of life and gave my Dad hope to keep moving. Finally, April was a fantastic ray of sunshine in my Dad's care. She was a wonderful nurse. We will always be grateful to the Accentcare home health and palliative team. read more

Horrible experience here. The staff for the 1st 2 days were great, however my brother-in-law passed today and the staff would not let more than 2 people in the room at a time to see him. We had 7 family members that wanted to say their last goodbye as a family and couldn't do it. Worst of all, my wife who is the sister of the deceased was not allowed to sit in the room when the Chaplin came in to give him his last rites because there was more than 2 people in the room at one time. Absolutely ridiculous and disgusting rule that hurt her deeply! Should have said screw them and went in anyway. When someone passes, a Hospice should be much more accommodating then this and because of it, I would never recommend this place to anyone! read more

My family utilized, or should I say, attempted to utilize, resources from this company for only a few short weeks. And that was all it took to make me a lifelong advocate AGAINST them. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT use this company! They will say they can deliver competent, caring personnel for your family member, but that is just the very beginning of the lies. They will send 20 year old kids with one day experience, or minimal training, who stay on their phone more than they pay attention to anything else. They will say they can cover shifts with very short notice-WRONG! I ended up working more shifts than the caregivers did. Most would show up late, leave early, and in some cases not even show up at all. They are unprofessional, ill prepared, and they LIE! One person actually argued with my family member saying that she had to stay in bed. Lazy! She just didn't want to take care of an ailing, elderly person with medical conditions fully disclosed prior to signing any contracts with this company. The after hours staff have their hands full with having to cover up for the shortcomings of the office staff that can't seem to get a simple schedule straight. During the sit down assessment, we were actually told to lock up all of the valuables as some people may be 'tempted'. Don't they screen their employees? Do they really need to warn about theft? Please, if you ever do one thing for your family member or friend, pass up AccentCare in San Diego. They simply do not CARE at all. read more

My dad was put on Hospice Care with AccentCare after a bad fall due to worsening brain cancer. From the very beginning the people who called and texted prepared everything for my dad, were accommodating and fast. They immediately had supplies, medical equipment, and a nurse and caregiver schedule set up when he returned to his assisted living facility the next night. They have amazing on-call nurses and SWs who are helpful and understanding. The assisted living facility called Accent Care many times and nurses and hospitalists came out immediately to evaluate and provide care to my ailing father. The SW was kind and resourceful. My dad loved all of the caregivers. And any time I voiced my needs for my father, they did everything they could to make it happen. My fathers rapid decline had many workers interacting with him and I got a call from them each and every time to update me. They provided chaplain and art therapy resources to my father as well, which he enjoyed. After my father's passing, a hospice nurse called me immediately and stayed at the facility until my husband and I arrived. He gave us hugs and provided sincere condolences upon initial meet. He explained everything that happened and that he was even there when he passed because he had come to hang out before he left the facility. He was helpful with the after process and quickly finding a mortuary to send my father to even at 7pm. The same nurse called us the day after and asked how we were doing and asked us to call him if we needed anything or had any questions. These people hire the best individuals for these positions and I can't thank them enough. They made the sad and quick process of my father passing more manageable. They also provide after death care and call you to offer support in counseling and other areas of grief. If you have the unfortunate need for a hospice care, you'll be lucky if they are your people. read more

AccentCare provided caregivers for my companion for the past several months. What stands out about AccentCare is the quality of their caregivers. The caregivers are experienced, kind, and caring. They focus on the needs of their clients and ensure they are kept safe, well-cared for and comfortable. AccentCare obviously has a good process for screening potential caregivers. If an unplanned problem shows up and a caregiver cannot keep their assigned appointment, AccentCare makes every effort to find a replacement caregiver in a timely manner, even on weekends. And they called my caregiver to not attend work because she put too many hours in already and left me with a caregiver that night! Accentcare no you do not work professionally. Hired them for my father for 24 hr care but they missed close to 1/3 of all the shifts. The weekends were a total mess. Never really knew if someone would show up or not. Over a 2 weeks period, 3 different aides showed up but had to leave before their shift was over. They schedule too many 16 hr and even 24 hr shifts resulting in aides that are too tired. And if the aide doesn't show then we were out of service for long periods of time. Pretty much never heard from them unless I called them. read more

I wouldn't recommend Accent care services for any one looking for good quality caregiving. Also I don't recommend as a good company to work for. As a caregiver who was employed by, I observed them to not have real heart, things were often done in a careless and cold manner by the office staff. Once I and other caregiver reported abuse, it wasn't taken seriously at all. I felt that clients were very often left in dark about what was going on with their care, and communications about who was going to show up. One client reported a lot of anxiety to me due to their not communicating and miscommunications. There are other agencies that have true heart, things are done in a warm together manner with the client's needs at the fore front. Accentcare is not one of them I am sad to say. read more

When I needed round the clock care for my sister after a devastating injury I didn't know where to turn. A family friend recommended Accent Care and I couldn't been happier with the service provided to our family. The care she received was excellent, the caregivers were attentive and patient, and whenever I needed anything Dana was always there to help day or night! My mother was a nursing home patient placed on hospice care in April 2021 with Seasons Hospice. I was contacted by the nurse, the social worker, the chaplain & the music therapist. The Seasons nurse visited & called with an update weekly & the aide came in to bathe Mom regularly. During periods when family visitation was shut down or discouraged because of a Covid outbreak, this was especially important to us. Communication stopped. I called & said we hadn't heard from anyone for weeks. A supervisor called & said the regular nurse was off, but Mom had been seen by a different nurse TWO WEEKS AGO & SOMEONE would see her this week. At some point, Seasons changed to AccentCare. A few weeks went by with no calls, so I called Accent again. Mom's weight went from 113.4 to 99 in the interim. We received subsequent calls from the nursing home: Mom had a pressure sore, Mom had slipped out of her chair, Mom had a bruise on her face. Accent finally gave Mom a regular nurse again the middle of March. Mom passed away on 3/23/22. No one from hospice (even the chaplain) contacted us. read more

I have been using Accentcare for the last year and now I have decided to finally write a review. They are horrible and have the worse care givers. I wish I could give them zero stars. If you care about your love ones don't use this agency. I have had care givers steal from my home and management doesn't even care. The manager Liz Saenz does not know how to hire good people and she has no empathy for the individuals who really need the care. If they ever send someone named Tina make sure you request for someone else. She is lazy and doesn't want to take care of of people she is supposed to provide services for. Tina had a bad attitude and she complained the whole 15 mins she was at my house. Also beware the employees only receive one week of training and they are supposed to be taking care of seniors or terminally ill patients. They are not CNA certified and have no business taking care of anyone who is sick or ill. Don't use this agency. I highly advise. read more

If you have tried the rest , it is time to experience the best. I have three of the most qualified care givers in San Diego . 1 Girl during the week , ( Cynthia ) who just saved my life yesterday when I chocked on a piece of my breakfast and it got stuck in my throat , she knew exactly what to do and she saved the paramedics a run to the hospital because I was ok . I chocked , I could not breath and Cynthia got it dislodged and literally saved my life . I also have Abbey who is the worlds best friend and companion, she cleans and cooks , and does really good things for me . We talk all the time as a companion care giver does . Cynthia is weekdays , Abbey ius Saturdays and Olivia is Sundays as she makes my home shine when she gets done , and she cleans and she does lots of things for me . Olivia is with me on Sundays . Never a problem with any of them . The one and 2 stars for accent care does not sit well with me and is disrespectful . If I could they would get a goild star and 100 stars but since I cant 5 stars plus tells you who ACCENT CARE IS.I dont know what the problem is with all the negative comments about the accentcare office staff , I have had dealings quite often with Liz , and Julie and have found them to be helpful and they help to schedule my care givers around my appointments at the VAMC all the time and very understanding . Accent Care is contracted with the VA and I am glad they do. Accent Care is the reason a disabled veteran can feel respected . I have power of attorney for my mother thus handle all of her affairs, and hired this company when she came home from the hospital and needed afternoon and evening care and medication reminders when she was at seacrest village retirement home in Poway Califonia recently. This company is not only poorly run, unreliable, but dishonest in that they did not disclose to me when first accepting my mothers credit card to use only for services rendered- they took $770.00 to hold as a deposit for care!!!!!!!!!!!!! Without permission or notification . Now, in addition to this infraction, they also missed a medication reminder after she had come home from the hopital one evening the medication missed was her Metoprolol for her Afib, and an antibiotic- . Need I say, I call Bank of America contested the charge of $700.00 stated this was never authorized-. I had been dealing with GINA McDowell in billing a vey rude person! She even hung up on me. She should be fired. In addition the operations of Accent Care is Hanna Schultz- obviously not doing her job well if customers/ clients are not informed that a depost is held- and also assistant Elaine Dolante also poor at her position- they all need re education in people skills . They should attend A NORDSTROM WORKSHOP They lied to seacrest village HR personel when I called to voice concern- they told them that I had received an email stating that a they required a deposit- I would like proof of that email with a back date on it please- show it to me!!!!! Print it out- I spoke with Catheryn at Seacrest Village - in HR who clears all companies that come thru seacrest. This one is NOT recommended- use another BEWARE. Try seacrest at home- I was pleased with them. This does not reflect well on seacrest village communities if they continue to endorse this business. read more

My husband recently had surgery and was assigned a home nurse from AccentCare to clean and redress the wound. Before he even left the hospital, AccentCare was a nightmare to work with! They told him information that ended up being for another patient (HIPAA violation), they would not get back in a timely manner and were not easy to work with. He was not even able to be discharged from the hospital before they scheduled with us, which due to their negligence extended us another day in the hospital! Once he was home, the nurse did not call to schedule, we had to call them to schedule. When the nurse finally came, she made an inappropriate comment about the location of my husbands surgery wound. She was unprofessional from the start. Her name is Yohann, not sure about the spelling though. The surgeon required the home health nurse to come every other day to change the dressing, but she came every two weeks!! She never once taught me how to change the dressing, and due to this left my husband susceptible to infection. One of the times she came, her blood pressure monitor was out of batteries and she had no replacements. My husband offered to let her borrow some. She never gave them back and when my husband realized she still had them, he ran out to the car and asked for them back and she said "Oh I should've driven off!" SO UNPROFESSIONAL. Finally, Yohann repeatedly did not call to confirm the appointments with my husband and would call about 30 minutes before hand and say she was on her way. As you can imagine this is a huge inconvenience. The two times we did schedule with her, she never showed up. Overall, this experience was sub-par and AccentCare should be ashamed of the service and staff they employ. I am so glad I received the survey from DHHS in the mail... read more

We had one of the best experiences possible with an Accentcare caregiver. Her name is Sylvia. She took care of my 101+ year old mom for close to two years while she recovered from a bad fall and had many months of recovery. She was unable to feed herself and take care of any of her daily activities of life for a number of months. Sylvia was loving, patient and was her companion for 6 hours a day encouraging her to get back to feeding herself, playing cards and enjoying life in her assisted living facility. She was an angel and for that we sincerely appreciate Accentcare. During the almost 2 1/2 years we were with Accentcare they provided several wonderful caregivers. We were sad to lose Sylvia but happy she could go onto other things that interested her and allowed her to be near family plus higher compensation. We miss her still and are fortunate to have had her. Thank. you Accentcare. read more

I have nothing nice to say about this home care service. They honestly have no idea what they're doing. I had them for eleven appointments, within that time I had three physical therapists. The first one in my opinion was a guru! The second one a Ph.D. In the field he was released by the company with no explanation to me. The third no different than the others in their education in Physical Therapy. They wasted five weeks of my time showing no progression in the recovery of my total knee replacement. Time and time again I tried to contact Colette never once did she return my calls. It took another person, Gayla, to make contact with Colette before I got a call. Oh, by the way Colette is the Supervisor for AccentCare. I will never ever ever work with Accentcare again. I went with another company who fulfilled all the requirements needed for a complete and successful TKR recovery. That's Gentivia!!! They're wonderful!!! read more
