There was one professor that I didn't love but overall the classes were great and I got so much out of the readings, assignments, and meetings. To give you a short summary of my Capstone presentation assignment, I was supposed to design an animal-assisted therapy program and present it in front of our peers, school advisor, and capstone professor. I loved presenting in front of my class and thoroughly enjoyed it. I've always loved working with animals and working with children and this is my first step toward living that dream!

She has been accepted, and is going into the International Baccalaureate program at George Washington. I did not like that the TAP kids were segregated from the IP kids at Hamilton. I did not like that the 6th grade and the 8th grade shared personal space. When I was in "Jr. High" it was 7th and 8th grade. The 6th-8thgrades provides an age range of 11-15 - kind of weird (still don't like it), but I realize this is the trend of the state, not the school. What I did like was the strong parental involvement, the strong academic IP program, and the fact that most of the kids Maddi was going to school with came from the stronger DPS elementary schools like Slavins, Cory and U.Park. What I now love is the teacher involvement with students as they move from middle school to high school, preparing them for an amazing academic program no matter what high school they choose. I love the parents who are moving from Middle school PTA partnerships to High school PTA partnerships. I love the friendships that my daughter has formed with a hugely diverse group of kids. And note: I love love love the Hamilton Middle School girls soccer team which has been ranked #1 in DPS for years now. My daughter plays sweeper :)

I've been going to CCA on and off since the spring semester of 2012. While I've done most of my…read moreclasses online; this semester I am taking a couple classes on both of CCA's campuses. Here's my takeaways so far: The Administrative Staff: Just like any other college out there, they get super busy the couple weeks leading up to the start of the semester. Especially in the Financial Aid department. So you'll probably have to leave a message and wait for a call back. That can often take a couple days. However, every department there has email and I've noticed that I get a clearer answer to my questions and it's a faster response to go that route. The staff is always very helpful and able to answer all the questions I have. The Teachers: To date I've had great experiences with all my teachers! The ones for my previous online courses have been very prompt and thorough answering my questions. They all have realistic expectations of their students. Which is awesome since I've been working full time and a part time student simultaneously! The Campus: It's a really nice simple campus. There's a selection of outdoor seating and a few sculptures/fountains mixed in the greenery around the outside buildings. This campus only has four buildings and they aren't spread too far apart. That makes it nice and quick to get around. The parking lot can get busy, but I've never had an issue parking. The Classrooms: The classrooms seem like they could use a little updating. Since this is my first semester on campus I can't help but notice how worn the carpet is in the classrooms. Also that the classrooms are filled to their absolute max with desks. If I sit next to a wall I literally have to ask my seatmate to get up and let me out, because there's not enough room for me to push back my chair and move behind them. While they do have ceiling mounted projectors to connect with teacher's computers, they still have old school ones present as well. I am a student at Bel-Rea and want to first acknowledge that many of these negative reviews are…read moreexceptionally old. I don't know what the school might have been like before I began, but my experience has been incredibly pleasant. The program itself is projected at 24months (two years for an associates), but it is essentially four years of information and can absolutely be difficult to keep up with. You can extend the program for up to 36 months to make the program more bearable. The staff is very friendly, especially the registrars Jennifer and Casey, and they are more than happy to work with students on developing a course plan that accommodates all of your needs. For myself, I will be extending my course by taking only 3 classes per semester, rather than 4. My tuition will still be paid at the same rate, so when it is time to do my internship I will have my tuition fully paid off and will be able to use that semester's financial aid to cover all of my living expenses, allowing me to focus solely on my internship. The school also offers a ton of free tutor opportunities, but with somewhat limited availability (the tutors are volunteer) so you should apply as early as possible for classes you know will be hard for you. It can be hard to work while in the program as some classes do have funky schedules, getting into a 24/7 ER clinic is certainly easier since the latest classes end at 2pm and most local GP practices close around 6pm, but you can speak with the registrar and move around your classes a bit if necessary. The class times themselves are locked but they were willing to move classes back a semester or forward a semester to accommodate me. They also are happy to help you find work, and in my experience working in ER vet clinics, many places very much prefer Bel-Rea graduates. Some of these reviews speak to the contrary, but in my own anecdotal experience I have found that Bel-Rea graduates are generally sought after particularly in specialty and emergency clinics. Yes, the tuition is quite hefty, however with a 80% plus success rate on passing the VTNE on the first try, to say that they don't prepare you is simply not fair. The internship options they have at the end of the program are numerous, even including some specialty options such as working with exotics, large animal, or wildlife rehabilitation (although some of the best internship programs do require a 3.5 GPA or higher). The program is also 100% vet tech focused, meaning that all of your professors are knowledgeable in the field and all of your classmates are there for the exact same reason, lending itself to a lot of support and opportunity for growth. The truth of the matter is that this is a medical program, and yes some of the professors can be very strict (especially regarding tardiness and attendance), but they are still much more accommodating than professors in most human nursing programs. As for continuing education, if you would like to pursue a bachelors degree (which is not necessary to be a registered/certified vet tech) they do have colleges listed who accept credits from Bel-Rea including a college partnership that accepts FULL credit transfer. All in all, the staff cares very much about their students, the whole faculty has a great love for animals that they show exuberantly. The resident animals are well loved and well cared for. The program itself is difficult but you can absolutely make adjustments to accommodate your lifestyle and needs. There are completely free tutoring opportunities if you choose to take them and if you communicate your concerns with the registrars and your admissions advisor, they can help you find a way to make it all work. I work two full time jobs alongside full time enrollment and it is opening up lots of opportunities and I am learning a lot of useful information rapidly and effectively. I think it is absolutely worth the high tuition.

It's a medical field, it's supposed to be hard. Angela, Tammy, Scott, all of the teachers were absolutely so wonderful. I want to specifically highlight Angela, because she is the sole reason I had the confidence and the interest in her specific classes. Not only was she a huge support system, she was also brutally honest and told us exactly what we needed to hear, and her curriculums were not confusing, she made it very clear what our expectations were. I wanted to be out so badly the entire 2.5 years, and now it's been almost a year out and I would do anything to be learning everyday again.

The academy fired our instructor with only one class left in the 8 weeks, which was extremely disruptive to our progress. Regardless of their reasons for firing him (which they shared with the students), I think they should have waited to let him go after our sessions were completed. We were left to review the material and take our final with a completely new instructor. I would not recommend this facility for phlebotomy training because I found them to be very rigid to work with and not flexible with student's schedules. I also think they are expensive compared to other facilities. The most important piece of training is a great instructor and Aplmed let an incredible instructor go.

My favorite teacher was Rachel (who taught micro and chemistry) who do a phenomenal job of active teaching!! I love her teaching style and she was knew her stuff. Jen Jones and Mr. Kesier were the best nursing instructors. Dr. Cannon was very scattered brain but nice, couldn't say I learned a whole lot from her. I did a lot of self teaching and asking a lot of questions to her because she would change what she wanted day by day. Ms. Ricker, read out power-points the whole class period and would just like to listen to herself speak the entire time, which was not informative or helpful. Therefore in class I would make the most of the time and just read the textbook to myself. She also played favorites. Riley- was probably on the bottom of the list, she did not know her stuff. For example when asking why I missed a question on exam and explained why I chose a certain answer and found the information from the textbook word to word, she could not back up why my answer was still wrong or give me my exam point back. I did learn a lot from Platt even though a lot of it was self taught, I did have good clinical experience because I took advantage of it and made the most out of it. I was not scared to jump on things, advocate for myself, and ask a billion questions. I passed the nclex in 75 questions and was very ahead as a new grad when starting my first nursing job. The price of the school is ridiculous. There is a lot of hidden fees such as textbooks, lab fees, online ati, ect. Therefore you need to be very conscious when looking at your bill, and ask for the breakdown. You should just buy textbooks outside of school. Also, I would recommend transferring a lot of general credits into the school (even though there is a fee it's still cheaper then taking the entire class).

I completely disagree with the previous review, as graduate degrees from a accredited school that is highly respected, as DU is, will set you way above people that just hold undergraduate degrees and even some graduate degrees. I have a Master of Professional Studies with emphasis in Organizational Leadership and Human Resources Administration, and have been told by recruiters that this degree ranks equal with an MBA with the same concentrations. I work in HR and I 100% degree. Just Google how many other big name colleges offer a Master of Professional Studies. A lot! University College gave me the flexibility to work full-time and attend school full-time and I graduated in under 2 years. It is also a substantially less expensive program compared to other graduate schools, and you still get a degree from reputable private school (University of Denver). Also, without this degree many doors that weren't open to me before have now opened. I had great instructors, fabulous advisors, and an all around great experience. It is not an easy school, but your hard work will be rewarded at the end when you have that piece of paper. I am a huge supporter of DU - University College. I got a Masters degree in computer science because it was close to work and offered evening onsite courses. Had I known what I know now, I would have gone elsewhere like Metro State. The instructors are barely qualified, they rely on powerpoint slides and don't seem to know much when you ask questions off script. Their recruitment is very aggressive and pushy, definitely over selling their product. They really push you to finance and their lending rates are high end. If you have any questions or need support once you are enrolled, good luck...very slow to respond, you have to continually follow up. Once they have your money they don't seem to care about much else. This school is a rip off, pursue other options and get more for your money, especially when it comes to technical subjects.
