Because of the location of the leak, Oscar and I agreed that installing an access panel would be a better long-term solution than simply patching the drywall, especially in case there are future water issues in the same area. Oscar contacted the warranty company again, obtained approval for the access panel, purchased the necessary materials, and completed the repair the following day.
