I just completed a 4 month treatment for a difficult broken elbow injury (recovering from post-surgery), to get a normal range of motion and strength restored.
I was very impressed by how effective the treatment was - at Hyde Park Accelerated, they place a big emphasis on "manual (hands-on) therapy", more than other places some friends of mine have gone (with lesser results).
I had a great experience with all of the staff there -the two therapists I primarily worked with were excellent. They always provided a lot of good medical info to help understand what was going on.
The home exercises provided through an Accelerated partner site (with animations, and smart phone app) were easy to follow and effective.
Although PT by its nature can be a grind, they continually introduced new exercises which kept it interesting and challenging, adjusting for what worked best. One of the therapists was even gracious enough to accept my challenge of a one on one basketball game, after I'd set a self-imposed recovery goal of making a 3 point shot (while guarded).
The surgeon was impressed by how much range they restored for me at the end of the 4 months of PT. I continue to do the home exercises they provided which yield additional progress every week.
I am very grateful for what they did for my elbow - I believe they made it is as good as it could possibly be during the critical post-surgery 4 month window. It feels bionic! read more
